The Internet is full of pics of gay brothers. But last night was the first time I've ever seen two gay brothers standing together in person. And in their sexy dancer bikinis I might add. So I thought about the ramifications of having a gay brother.

 

Now we could talk about the heavier issue of moral support and not being isolated from gay people. But why don't we look at the lighter side to this. We've certainly have had plenty of heavy duty conflicts in a number of threads in recent months, and I think we could all use more fun threads.

 

I would assume that some members on this site grew up with a gay brother, or knew gay brothers. Well the obvious comes to mind. How convenient to have a gay brother around when you're both in the mood! And you don't even have to sneak out of the house, or make up excuses for parents about where you went or what you were doing etc.

 

My main question is this: How many gay brothers "do it" with each other? I would think a very high percentage, but I may be wrong. I honestly have no idea. Also does the physical attraction factor play the same role as it would if the guy wasn't your brother, or does it matter less? Perhaps, some members on this site could fill us in.

 

Would anyone care to share his own experience, or comment on the first-hand knowledge of others?

Probably about the same number of straight brothers and sisters who have sex with each other - almost none, except in West Virgina, Kentucky (and maybe Maine). It would be called incest, and most folks aren't interested in it for a multitude of reasons.

 

If there is a genetic link for being gay, as some folks theorize, it is often common to have more than one gay sibling in a large family. I personally know of a family where there are two boys and one girl, and both of the boys are gay. I know another family with six boys, five of whom are gay. I know of another family with 17 children (honest), with three gay boys and a lesbian. But I don't think that there is any tendancy for gay siblings to have sex with each other. I don't know where such an idea would come from.

I did not author this topic to provide an opportunity for people to express the usual inflammatory nasty comments. I did it in good faith. It was not a stupid question, and it was intended to be a lighter thread than those provoking the usual personal feuds and conflicts. There is a difference between gay brothers, and heterosexual brothers and sisters. The issue over incest is more about pregnancy than it is about sex, which does not apply to gay brothers. The gay world has different norms than that in the str8 world.

 

Now would you please go somewhere else if you get off from wrecking other people's threads!

I strongly disagree. I don't consider the question to be "a non-controversial simple question". It is a stupid and insulting question, which implies that gay people are more inclined to incest than straight people. It deserved the rebuke that I gave it. It helps to re-inforce the misconception in this country that gay people are perverts, child molesters or incesters. So yes, I was offended by the question, and answered appropriately. These are exactly the types of unjust stereotypes that we need to combat.

You're really overreacting to a question that did not imply anything negative about gay culture. If I knew the answer, I wouldn't have asked. I really don't know. As for "re-inforcing the misconception ... that gay people are perverts," I had no such intention and don't view it that way at all. "Child molesters?" Don't be absurd. There's a quantum leap from gay brothers having sex to the stereotype of "child molesters" and the like.

 

If the answer is yes, I don't believe it implies any of the sterotypes you listed. If that were true, just about everything in the gay culture would support stereotypes. This web site would support stereotypes. In case you haven't noticed, gay culture is very different from str8 culture, including the way people meet for sex. If more brothers are having sex than brothers and sisters, it would be very consistent with everything else in the gay culture.

 

You seem to have an ax to grind. Go grind it someplace else. If someone said the sky is blue, I'm sure you would have a scathng reply to that statement as well. Or, maybe you just got up on the wrong side of the bed. BTW: Weren't you supposed to go warn the colonists that the British are coming?

 

Meanwhile, I hope to hear from people who want to address my question without making a federal case based on imagined stereotypes and blown out of proportion implications.

Tristan, you just made the assumption that the orignal questioner did. You are both saying that because we are gay, we are more likey to have incest than straight people. Yes gay people and gay sex patterns and gay dating and trysts can be very different from straigt people. But dont't make the leap that because gay people are different than straight people that we are more likely to engage in incest! That makes a very negative assumption about gay people and who we are.

 

I think these questions and comment couldn't be made by anyone who has siblings. Most people who have siblings don't ever even consider incest or discussion about it.

 

This would be like a straight guy saying to his best friend, "Gee your sister is hot. Did you ever do her?", and then wondering why he was upset.

My partner and his next younger brother are both gay. However, there is a six year age difference between them, and neither came out sexually until his late 20s, so the issue of sex never came up for them.

I have a gay brother and we have never come close to having sex. I admit there is ten years diference in our ages and we both were in complete denial into our thirties but I still don't think we would have ever had a sexual experience together. The closest we come is a big hug and a "I luv you", but then our entire family does that!

My brother and I are two years difference in age. We both realized or admited to or whatever you call it later in life maybe around 40. I don't think I was attracted to him or him me. But we can now talk about the gay world and culture much easier. He is out and I am not but mostly because of my profession. HUGS Chuck

hey charlie how do u like living in palm springs? was it a good move for you? me and my asian twink friend just came back from there and it was pretty fun. i lost a fair amount of money at aqua caliente but other than that it was a good time. i miss him already, it has been 2 days but i like holding him and kissing him. he is the only guy i ever kissed becaue i hated kissing till i met him.

 

about the gay brother thing i don't think it was meant to be a stupid or insulting question because it sounded like it was more out of curiousity than anything else. it could have been asked more differently but whatever. i am gay my 3 brothers are straight so i can't answer from that view point. i did have a lot of sex when i was young with an older cousin who turned out to be fully straight. i was like 7 and he was about 12 or so and it went on for maybe a year. i think he found a girlfriend then, so i guess that is incest. and i don't even live in KY just kidding KY Top.

 

so the pics u see of gay bros on the internet are usually not brothers and probably some are not even gay guys. i know the woods brothers have been posted here and other places but i don't think they are really bros let alone gay from my friends in socal who apparenty knows one of them.

 

so i guess not too many gay brothers have sex together. maybe like all brothers they might experiemnet a little bit when very young but i think that is more just boys being boys not gay or straight, just horny

Well,as a horndog right from the age when puberty first hit,let me say that I know quite a few guys that have had sex in one way or another with a brother/cousin.

Since most guys don't consider this stuff "reall sex"just messing about(or at least that was the case in my experience)I would think it happens with the same level of frequency among gay siblings.

It's possible that there are as many str8 brothers just doing it as a guy thing in a safer context as there are brothers who know they are both gay. Guess I didn't have this perspective because my only brother was one of the last people with whom I would experiment. I always had a feeling I was different. As for my brother, he was always super homophobic.

I as a gay man, saw nothing the least bit offensive in regards to your question. I can only guess at why PR finds it in anyway a derogatorial stereotyping of gay men, but I assume he has his own issues to deal with.

 

The only issue I have with your question, is why it is limited to gay siblings? Early puberty is a time of exploration between people, even siblings, and it is often just that, early sexual awakening explorations, regardless of whether it is with a brother, sister or cousin and whether the participants are any combination of gay, heterosexual or bisexual. Doesn't matter at all, as a lot of healthy people do it and those who do so, just move on with their lives and recognize it for what it was at the time.

 

When I hit puberty, I had some sexual escapades with my year older brother, who is 100% straight, and my year younger sister, also 100% straight, wanted to do it, but I was always a faggot, so no go there! We were all in the throes of raging preteen puberty! My brother was also getting it on with my first cousin Betty, who was the same age. Not to mention that I was doing it with my cousin Bobby (bisexual), 4 years older and Betty's brother. AND TO THINK we didn't even have to go 2 hours west to cross the West Virginia border or 3 hours southwest to cross the Kentucky border! But I guess that's close enough for PR!

 

I guess, I'm just trying to say that sexual exploration with anyone, of any orientation, in the throes of emerging puberty can be taken as just that, exploration, with no long term effects one way or the other.

 

To the best of my knowledge, I'm the only gay person in my family, and I have 8 siblings and 45 first cousins. I WISH I had a gay sibling! But then again, me and Bobby still got it on whenever we ran into each other (but the last time was 20 years ago). After all, I wasn't worried about getting knocked up and giving birth to a mutant!
