These are really extraordinary and touching, particularly the earliest.

It's difficult to imagine how strong the feelings of love must have been to have a photograph taken, given the atmosphere of the time, so that you could carry with you a small remembrance of someone very special.

I love seeing old photos like this. I've heard that in the 1920's, being gay could be out in the open, but something happened (i don't remember) happened to where we had to go back in the closet. Not sure if it's really real, but I would love to find out.
