Has the "management"at Air Canada gone compltely insane?I followed a link for some "sale"fares to Montreal for late spring/summer and the "sale"fare is around $500!!!!

The good thing is they have added another nonstop in both directions.

No wonder they are in bankruptcy.Raising fares is no way to attract customers, and while I would appriciate the added nonstops, they should fill the planes they already have going out.

I wish there was a US flyer who had a convenient sched(or a non-stop)to Montreal from LAX.sorry for the rant

There are quite a few US carriers that service both Montreal and LAX. You might want to look at United and Northwest, at least.

If you do your search on [a href=http://www.orbitz.com]Orbitz[/a], you'll see a good comparison between rates and carriers.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input BG,I have flown the fitingly renamed NWA(again-an example of airline execs being payed WAY too much for stupid ideas-where do they find these people?)And I can get great deals on them-I just don't care for the airline.

United codeshares with AC(star alliance)so they don't get much better prices.

And most of the connecting flights are at really bad times.

I will just keep watching the skies!

USAir services both but have no idea what the connections through Philly would be like-they do have a decent MTL LAS connection. They also aren't noted for low rates-but with Southwest entering the Philly market that will have to change if they are to survive.

Funny someone brought up airfares. NBC nightly news did a segment on the only three ailines that are making money....and yes...you guessed it..they are the discount carriers Southwest, Jet Blue & Air Tran. I'm an exclusive NWA flyer because of those frequent flyer perks....but I still endure my share of gouging. Hmmmm...I may just jump ship soon!!

So true! What a poorly run airlines.

I had a major seating fuck up when I had bought US$1,500 in tickets for six of us.

They were months in responding and then gave a weak apology and explained that they don't owe the flyers anything and tough.

100 frequent flyer miles would have made me happy. Now I'll never fly that godforsaken excuse for an airlines again. x(

I am flying to Chicago for the weekend on Southwest for $95 Roundtrip. Too bad they don't fly to Montreal.

I have gotten decent fares to Montreal on Continental, NWA, and Delta using Orbitz. But, I am not flying all the way across the country. You just need to keep on checking every few days. They will also e-mail you if the fare drops below a rate you can set for a specific trip.

If time is not a huge issue, you could always fly into Toronto, then take the nice Via Train to Montreal. First class tickets on the train is not that much, and they serve alcohol free with that ;-)

Sorry to hear fares are high for your locaton. Keep an eye on their last minute websaver fares though, they have some pretty good deals if you want to go at the last minute.

I know a lot of people have had problems with AC, but I have always found their service to be very good from here in DC. I have flown them numerous times to Toronto and one return from Ottawa. I will be flying to Montreal on them in the spring. If you have Star Alliance FF miles you can always cash those in on AC.

Big guy, you might want to log on to travelocity.com and go to their fare watcher feature. They will email you every time the fare changes, the idea being that you can snag a low fare when it's out there. Oh the things we do for love..or should I say lust.

No, they have been there quite some time and apparently refuse to budge. Not the shrewdest of marketing types but then they belabor under the fantasy that they have a monopoly -- the only Candian carrier to originate flights to the states out of Montreal. (And Orbitz reinforces this attitude because they wont let you book flights with a Canadian origination. ) I also suspect that they are at a competitive disadvantage with the onerous Canadian taxes.

Having received their web saver notices for a couple of years now I find them mildly amusing when I take the time to read. Having said all of that they are the only airline that seems to operate full-size aircraft between Montreal and the Northeast corrridor.

And on rare occasions when the full moon and planets align they offer a fare that is actually competitive. I recently had the occasion to seek a RT fare between Montreal and NYC. Expectiing to get raped by any air carrier on a short fuse 10-11 day advance I was pleasantly surprised to find a real competitive fare for even a 21 day advance purchase and much better than the US competition on those dates. Over the few days I was finalilzing arrangements the fares actually dropped another $40 dollars. The planets must have been in alignment. I supsect the management is unaware of this bug in their booking software. :+

Great Things Cum in Canadian Packages

BTW, speaking of things Canadian... rumour has it that Matt Vancouver will be invading the East Coast mid to late April. Known lovingly has Matt the Impaler among the Bottom community, it is said that the ravished are left with a :7 transfixed on their countenance. Those residing on the other side of the tracks may be seduced by the siren calls of his welcoming side. -- speaking from experience. }(

Dear Big Guy,

I have the home page on my compute set to "MY Yahoo".

One of the many features they offer is air fares.

I have them track all my favorite cities. (They use travelocity.com)

The advantage is that Yahoo posts them in a calendar format, so I can see which DAYS the discounted rates are even on airlines I do not fly.

I only fly on Continental because I play the affinity game to remain at the Platinum level simply because I fly so much. But I know which days the flights are discounted.

Assuming you are a big guy as you handle implies, you may not be interested in flying coach, but at least it will give you an idea of who has the lowest fares if you do not mind sitting in the back of the plane.

On Continental, if you fly on 777's and like to use a computer, rows 1 - 23 have power ports (except the coach bulkhead, row 16).

The best seat in coach if you do not need a computer is 32. There is no one in front of you, so you don't have to crawl over people to get to the bathroom for a quick jack off.

Continental 776's have power ports on rows 1 - 23 including the bulkhead coach seat 16. But you can't snag that till you are at the airport and sweet talk the gate agent. They save it for crying babies.

My dearly departed and beloved sister preferred Gulfstream V's.

The chairman of Warner Brother's once had to fly commercial and his young son looked at him and said, "daddy, why are there all these other people on our plane?"

On my recent 16 hour flight to Hong Kong, I actually spoke to the person next to me, but only briefly. The power port plug that goes into the back of my laptop fell off and under my seat. We spent about an hour tearing the seats apart trying to locate it. I found it, but then the top of the flight attendant's flashlight popped off and knocked the plug further under the seat, which is like looking under the hood of a Mercedes 600SL.

I lost the power port plug and the flight attendant's flashlight, but the guy sitting next to me was amused that I was adamant about finding it and I loaned him my Sony headsets for a few minutes to keep him from trying to make small talk.

But when you're on an 16 hour flight, any diversion is better than watching "Legally Blond" for the fifth time or listening to the Broadway show-tunes channel when they're are featuring songs about marriage.

I'm sure you realize that flights on Northwest and Delta contribute to your Continental elite status as much as flights on Continental itself.

In fact, since Continental is now cutting down elite qualifications for some discounted fares (assuming you ever fly on a discounted fare!), you might want to think about moving to Platinum on Northwest or Delta. Either one would give it to you automatically, I think, with a simple phone call, because of your Continental Platinum status. And then all flights will count equally toward the 75,000 mile requirement.

Thanks to all for the Input.Hooboy-the Image of someone serching for something on hands and knees for an hour-and popping up between passengers legs is wonderful!Reminds me of a time an actor friend of mind(regular on David Kelly's shows-he is now sober)Was in the Tom Kat theatre, very drunk, and lost his phone!Hours were spent on his hands and knees with a little pen-light looking for it!Classic!

I have signed up for all of the alerts.Waiting for my discount certs on Northworst. That usually brings down the fare to under $300-but you have to fly at wierd times(think of leaving LAX at 2 am!)and connecting in Detroit(Can I tell you how emberassing it is that Detroit should have a nicer airport than Los Angeles!-Too bad they have to staff it with such horrible people)

I have never been to Montreal during this time of year. They have an incredible firworks show that I want to see.I also understand that a muchloved LA boy will be doing an internship at the Taboo around then-can't wait!
