Wanted to invite anyone who will be in San Francisco to my art opening Wednesday, February 4 from 5-7pm, in the first floor of the Hobart Building, 582 Market (at Montgomery). There will be wine and music and a pretty fair amount of eye candy -- cute guys of a variety of types, some escorts, some not. Can YOU tell who is and who isn't? Oh, and there will be some paintings I made hanging on the wall. :*

For those of you unfamiliar with art reception etiquette, please know it is not necessary to buy a piece in order to attend. When not making a purchase, however, it is customary to make a point of being overheard saying that your friend the New York art dealer told you to snap up my work while you can, that my career's about to blow up, and you're just trying to decide which two or three to buy. Try to sound natural. :+

Wish I could be there, babe. I could *absolutely* sound natural talking about the Devon that already hangs in my home. ;-) (And won't future art historians puzzle over that? "It's from his Devon period.")

Good luck!

The two best things to spend money on are art and escorts. In this case you could have both. What could be more perfect?

Dear Devon --

I so wish I could have been to your art show. Of course, I would have insisted on perusing the event wearing Rollerblades, most likely dragging a few pieces of luggage and a bellman behind me, so I may have embarrassed you. Knowing you, however, you likely would have laughed and used it as another amusing anecdotes in your diary.

Of course, being a proud American and a Texan to boot, thus lacking any sophistication, I would have continually been wanting to know where my favorite art was -- Art Carney. I only hope you did not have a female breast in your show or I know I would have been offended as I am sure most people in San Francisco would have been, assuming only a few have ever seen one unless they happened to watch some silly game on Sunday. Being outside the USA, the few people who even knew about it find it amusing the horror of seeing Janet Jackson's breast. Personally, I wonder how much it looked like her brother's nose.

Seriously congratulations! I am confident your exhibit was as interesting as I think you are. I hope the people in attendance appreciated that they were breathing special air.

Love to you.

You could never embarrass me, Hoo. And even if you did, knowing your taste in bellmen, I'd get over it pretty quickly. :9

Actually I'm afraid that due to a logistical snafu, there will NOT be an oxygen bar at the event after all, so we'll all be stuck breathing plain old ordinary air. But there will be wine and snacks on hand, as well as, I hope, several CBPs (cute boy posses). By the way, the show isn't till 5 to 7pm PST, so anyone in SF reading this still has time to make it down to 582 Market St!

As I write this I'm printing up snazzy new business cards for my new "respectable" website that's just for my paintings, not for the stuff most of you know me better for. Feel free to pass the link on to your big-spending, art-loving, art-world-connection-having friends -- or to anyone else you think might like to have a look. The domain name just came through last night so there's not a ton of stuff on there but more will be added, included an artist's statement (which I really should have already had done, but this was all fairly last minute).

Thanks to everyone who posted kind words above and to all of you who have subsidized my painting, directly (by hiring me or buying a piece) and indirectly, by contributing to an Internet climate vis-a-vis escorting that has allowed me to thrive on a number of levels. And that thank, of course, goes quadruple for Garbo the Hoo, both for running a site that has made such a difference in my career and for giving an obscure diary-keeping ho a platform for a wider audience. I am grateful to you all.

I had to do a double take when I read that, deej...it's a little surreal to hear someone with as big a cock as yours talking about "Devon hanging." :p

Wish you could be there too, deej. Just promise me you'll make it to the retrospective. ;-)

Hmmm...I thought the Academy Awards were still a few weeks away. :p

Yes, but the Golden Globes are behind us.

Err ... some more golden than others. :+

Garbo Talks

From the perspective of another art fag, as well as a collector of art, I can personally vouch for the interesting and diverse quality of his art. I had the chance to look through a number of pieces to potentially purchase, but unfortunately due to some unfortunate circumstances, I only ended up with one of the pieces I wanted.

I look forward to looking at the "non-escort" site.

Which, I think, is a diplomatic way of saying I goofed and sold the other one before getting down to LA... :D Sorry, Franco! The funny thing is I never really liked that piece (the one that got away) and was so glad someone was willing to give me money for it that I snapped it up before the ether wore off.

dear Franco,

do what I do...

go to Wahl Mart and buy their frames.

they usually have a nice selection of art already in them...and the prices are much cheaper than you'll find at at the Van Gobaby in Amsterdam.
