Because you all were behind me (no pun intended;)) during this past year, I'm happy to return the favor with another $100.

That's wonderful as we appreciate you too, Oliver.

Wow Danny - your on your way to GREATNESS, my friend. What a kind, and sincere donation by giving back to everyone based on support.

Outstanding Oliver!!!

Wm yes your contribution can be done anonymously. You can declare that on the contribution site.

That's not anonymous "enough" for me. IndieGogo would still have a lot of my personal information linked to a project in an activity which I need to keep secret.

Seriously tip my hate off to you, sweetheart as your awesome. It's true what Steven said " You are the best"

Maybe that was just a typo, but if you actually are feeling hate, maybe you need to get your ass over here, JD, and I'll heal you with some lovin. With all due respect to Danny, YOU are the best, JD.

Opps!! Yikes.

Sorry guys I goofed as I meant to say with all sincerity and upmost respect "Tip my hat off to you". What a dumb-ass I am to not proofread it.I just corrected the error. :D.Thanks for catching that, Steven.

I would love to get some luvin from you, Steven anytime. :p. The moment I feel hatred I'll run to you immediately. ;)

Hope this isn't butting in, Danny, but I have a few practical suggestions.

I made several donations to the Obama campaign basically by having clients I trusted donate for me. My main motivation was on those donations you have to give a name and a number for public disclosure and I didn't want the endless campaign fundraiser phone calls. If you know an escort you trust (or anybody else) give the money to them and they can donate for you on their credit card.

I also did the same with non-electoral contributions to groups like EQCA on same sex marriage where clients who are not out wanted to help but frankly didn't want to have their names publicly associated with an LGBT cause. I just made their contribution in my name, and showed them a record of it. After you make a donation on the IndieGogo site you get a receipt.

Also FYI as Epigonos said on the donation page you can check a box that says you don't want your name listed so it shows up as "undisclosed" and it says "Your contribution will appear on your credit card statement as a charge to INDIEGOGO."

Hope this helps. Thanks for wanting to help and please, please donate.

Unfortunately, all the c-funding sites require this info. Would you allow donors to send well-concealed cash? Sending cash through the mail is not illegal, btw.

Folks,

I understand your concerns. I guess I'm now flying above the radar now

And while it was not my intention, I believe that I've been there for quite some time.

If there is way you would like to make a donation and would like to keep your privacy, I might be able to help.

I'm an honest guy, with no need to take money away from a cause I believe is promoting something beneficial.

I suspect that a couple of people on this site will help eliminate any concerns that I would ever divert any of your contributions.

If you want to make a contribution annomously, I may be able to find a way.

I believe that Danny has the inspiration to make a positive difference here. He also does not have my 'burn out'.

If you want to help him, I hope that this community can raise a thousand percent of his goal.

Perhaps even get the attention of others who have underestimated how powerful we are(Albeit, in the closet we would like to remain). We are a very powerful group.

I believe that there are people who could use our help. I don't pretend to know the best way to give that, but when I see someone inspired to do the best they know how, I want to see us support him.

I believe that Danny's intentions are sincere

Okay guys,

It is time to pony up. Or not.

A $100 would make a small, if any dent in how we live our lives. However, it could make a difference here.

I understand being frugal. I just spent $300 to fill my motorcaoch with fuel, and I am staying at a rest area, because I don't want to spend the $40 for a nice RV park.

If you can be supportive here, please considering doing so.

It appears to me that Danny has the intelligence and inspiration to help here.

I have issues with some of the terms that have been used to describe the folks in this industry, but I will do my best to get over myself.

Please don't let your issues stop you from making a donation.

Thanks!

Mike

Oops. I took that text I wrote above not off my actual credit card statement, but what it said on the receipt when I made the donation. Thanks for the clarification VHC. I just looked at my credit card statement online and you're right, it says the same thing as you wrote.

As I said above, it's kind of the same set of rules everybody in this game knows anyway. If you are in a position where you need to be discreet, be discreet. Easiest way to do that I think is ask an escort or somebody else you know and trust to donate on their credit card and then give you the receipt to verify. Seriously, if anybody wants to donate but is worried about being compromised private me and I'll put it on my card and scan and send you a receipt, and Danny can verify it to you privately on his end I'm sure.

While we're at it, Danny do you know are these donations tax deductible? The language on the payment page says this: "This campaign has been designated nonprofit and can only receive contributions via credit card. If you are a United States taxpayer, your contribution may be tax-deductible. FirstGiving will send you a tax receipt directly."

My donation appeared on my card statement as a charitable contribution to "SEXWORKERSOUTREAC".

Not a problem for me, but FYI.

Thanks for posting this. I was about to say "fuck my fear" and donate but this really gives me pause. Sorry. :(

Mr. Clarke:

Absolutely. I've had lots of clients who are not out and don't want any traceable association with LGBT causes, let alone payments to escorts. Again, if you want to donate but have these concerns I'd suggest privating Danny or me and we'll figure something out. I know of several of my clients who are not out and have already donated to SWOP, because nobody but them reads their credit card statements. Thanks guys!

Although a tiny bit risky, one can send cash through the mail. If so, do not use a greeting card as those may be targeted. Simply take a piece of paper, fold it enough to obscure the bill if the envelop is help up to the light and mail it. Most people have a fear of sending money in the mail, but while not foolproof, it is reasonably safe.

To my knowledge, yes. We are a 501©(3) registered nonprofit.

I didn't realize that's what it came out on a statement as. I apologize to anyone who this may cause trouble for.

On the plus side, anytime people see the word "outreach", they think Jesus. (i don't know... i'm just making things up)

Besides wrapping paper around the money, send it in a security envelope.

Contributions to 501©(3) organizations are the only kind that are tax-deductible. But that comes with extra recordkeeping requirements.

Those who donate through a third party, keep in mind you may be giving up the deduction and incurring more problems for yourself if you're audited and you've taken the deduction. Also, since SWOP itself is mixed-use, not strictly LGBT, and is a charitable non-profit, a donation to them might be less incriminating than you think. YMMV, especially if you're not known to highly political or to be involved in social justice causes or you have others in your household who are not aware that you are LGBTQRSTUV. Sorry, joke. I tend to use the term "queer" to cover everything because my other preference, QUILTBAG, is kinda silly, as is LGBTQIA. (Where's the U? No genderqueer? IDK.)

Also, I made a contribution that brought the total up to $1,850. That dangling $8 bugged me, so I decided to bring the total up to a nice, even number.

For those who want discretion, but who still would like to donate ...

... is it an option to buy a prepaid credit card of the right amount and use the prepaid credit card to donate? (Those who want high discretion, may prefer to use cash when buying the prepaid credit card.)

....

Anton.

That's a great idea. I'll try that tomorrow with the IndieGogo fundraiser.

Oh my god!

You guys are amazing!!!!!

I just posted that an hour again, and Bosguy put us over the top with a $50 donation, before I even came! Thanks Bosguy and whoever else gave. :D

So I just donated another $50 to honor my matching pledge. We're up to $2050 as I write this.

Don't stop now guys .... at-risk sex workers need your support.

Let's see how far over the goal we can shoot!
