Yes, this is probably an overbroad generalization, but I'm going to make it anyway. I think sex between men tends to be different from what occurs between men and women - rougher, more athletic.

Never having had sex with a woman- I wouldn't know about that. But if athleticism is a sine qua non for male-to-male sex, then I would be left at the starting gate. ( I was always picked last for teams at school too)

You noticed I used the weasel word "tends," so that men like you, for example, who appear to like their sex on the tender, sensual side, wouldn't feel excluded. I don't not like tender, sensual sex, but if that's all I ever had, I would soon find it very boring.

I did realize it-just as I'm sure you know that some women-who knows how many-also like more athletic bed polo. In my case it's not just liking it-which I do-but also physical limitations. I'm just not designed for a high power/high intensity f$@k-fest.

Of course I know that and of course I knew that I was going to be taken to task for making such a broad generalization. Such is the nature of Internet message boards.

I agree with you Rudy. Sex with women, for me anyway, is usually a sharing and mutual loving act.

With men, and this applies to sex but to other aspects of interactions with men, it is more competitive. More a struggle for power. Who will surrender the lead first. Who will surrender to the desires of the other first. Who will surrender to the orgasm first. Not always, but usually, sex with men is an enjoyable competition and in the end, if played right, both (or more) are winners.

At the margins, Rudynate, I agree with you. The most powerful, rough, athletic sex is going to be between guys. Sex with women (whether it be m/f or f/f) is likely to skew more toward tender and sensual. For one thing, men (on average) have greater upper body strength.

If competition is a male trait, then I'm a man in disguise. I'm confrontational and super competitive about lots of things. Why do you think I went into law as a profession?

The important question, though, is: how much are these generalizations truly due to unfettered individual preference (good) and how much due to societal brainwashing (bad, at least as far as I'm concerned)? Since we can't control for or get rid of the effects of societal conditioning, there's no way to know. The closest we can come is to bend over backwards not to reinforce or continue that conditioning, which is why I find these generalizations less than helpful.

I've thought about asking the escort I've seen the most if he fucks me less vigorously than the average male client (or at least male clients of similar size and build, which might be tough, seeing as I'm less than 5' 2" tall but weigh more than he does), but haven't yet.

Well, all I know is that when I'm having sex, it just feels great

I suspected you were a lawyer. I am too.

I totally agree. Kissing another guy is usually much rougher, to use your word. But, when the chemistry is right, it is everything: rough, passionate, intense, gentle, caring, even loving (in a way). It just depends on what you want it to be.

Not all statements are intended to be helpful. Sometimes they are merely speculations as to what is so.
