I think that favorite videos stay in my mind more than favorite songs. I have long loved Adam Rickitt's I Breathe Again.....

Another video that's stuck in my mind, on the subject of blonds with great bodies, is Wannagirl by Jeremy Jordan.

Still looking really good!

Well, any favorite song for me would come from Stephen Sondheim. Gee, I wonder if I could be gay?

Why would you say that, lol? After all, very few of his songs deal with homosexuality. :D

(And though I have a huge number of favorite songs and would have a hard time ever settling on one, I'll admit I'm a huge Sondheim fan too.)

Here's another a cappella version of it ...

I love Bastille's POMPEII  The original version and the club version are not to be missed either.

[video=youtube;F90Cw4l-8NY]

I was left to my own devices

Many days fell away with nothing to show

And the walls kept tumbling down

In the city that we love

Great clouds roll over the hills

Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

Nothing changed at all?

And if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

You've been here before?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

We were caught up and lost in all of our vices

In your pose as the dust settles around us

And the walls kept tumbling down

In the city that we love

Great clouds roll over the hills

Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

Nothing changed at all?

And if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

You've been here before?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

If you close your eyes

Oh where do we begin?

The rubble or our sins?

Oh where do we begin?

The rubble or our sins?

And the walls kept tumbling down

In the city that we love

Great clouds roll over the hills

Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

Nothing changed at all?

And if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

You've been here before?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

But if you close your eyes,

Does it almost feel like

BTW: a cappella = without instrumental music

acoustic = not having electrical amplification

At the moment, Pete Seeger's "Little Boxes" and Joni Mitchell's "Tax Free." Probably because it's time to do taxes in this little high risen box. ;)

Ah..."Little Boxes" brings back memories of my long-ago junior high Spanish teacher. He was a very hot redhead who always had his guitar and spent a lot of time playing folk songs I'd never heard in each class when our Spanish lessons were finished! Now that song never stuck in my head, but it was a new idea for me to think of suburbia (and I lived in suburbia then!) like that. :)

"Anniversary Song," "Miles From Our Home," and a cover of "Sweet Jane" by Cowboy Junkies

"Rock Lobster" and "Roam" by the B52s

"Perform This Way" and "Word Crimes" by Weird Al Yankovic

and, alas, "The Ladies Who Lunch" and "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" by Sondheim

There are more, but it is early here.

  • 9 months later...

Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night

And wouldn't you love to love her?

Takes through the sky like a bird in flight

And who will be her lover?

All your life you've never seen a woman

Taken by the wind

Would you stay if she promised you Heaven?

Will you ever win?

She is like a cat in the dark

And then she is the darkness

She rules her life like a fine skylark

And when the sky is starless

All your life you've never seen a woman

Taken by the wind

Would you stay if she promised you Heaven?

Will you ever win? Will you ever win?

*balls eyes out*

Thats as far as I can make it into that song.

once she starts crying "taken by the sky" I lose my bearings.

Tori Kelly's Funny:

It's so easy to lose all the meaning of who you are

What is your definition of a true super star?

Is it beauty? Is it money? Is it power? Is it fame?

Are you in it for the glory? What's the purpose? What's the gain?

Everything you ever wanted got you tied up in chains

Be careful how you play the game

'Cause the same ones that chose you

are the same ones that own you,

Same thing that built you

is the same thing that kills you

Same ones that praise you

are the same ones that hate you

Funny how it all goes around.

If you lose your soul,

you'll lose it all

If you're at the top

then brace for the fall

Surrounded by faces,

no one to call
