Kicked of his team because of making out with an old gay man, and now stalking him.

 

Former North Dakota college football player who was kicked off his team after kissing an older man is facing a charge of stalking the billionaire David Geffen.

 

Jamie Ralph Kuntz, 21, was ordered on Wednesday to return to Los Angeles superior court on charges that he repeatedly violated an order to stay away from the entertainment mogul.

 

Kuntz pleaded not guilty earlier this month and is being held on $150,000 bail.

Kuntz was kicked off the North Dakota State College of Sciences football team two years ago after kissing a 65-year-old boyfriend in the press box.

 

Kuntz says he lost his place as linebacker because he was gay, though the coach says he was removed for lying about the kiss.

 

Defence lawyer David Wohl said his client had a short-term physical relationship with Geffen that became a case of unrequited love. He disputed that Kuntz threatened Geffen or put him in fear for his safety, which is required to support a felony stalking charge.

 

The charges were filed after Kuntz pleaded guilty this fall to misdemeanour trespassing on Geffen’s property and was sentenced to four months in jail and three years of probation.

Sounds to me more like the young man figured that he could get more money out of Geffen than Geffen was willing to part with. Probably had a date or two with the guy, treated him nicely, and the young man expected that to continue. Regardless of someone's economic status, one should have the ability to decide not to date someone else and have that person accept that decision and move on. There's no reason to go to someone's property who has already told you to stay away.

I'm not sure that the "old man in the booth" was Geffen. My reading of the story is that the man involved in the kiss that resulted in him being kicked off the team was a different man.

I doubt that David Geffen would fly out to North Dakota just to see some random sex partner--and even the football player's lawyer concedes that the relationship was a brief physical one.
