I've always been curious about staying there, and the rates for when I want to go next month seem reasonable at $100/night, but the reviews on Travelocity aren't that great. It seems that the Hyatt is usually available through Priceline at about $55/night. What do people who've stayed there think about the Ramada? I know the location is great, but how about the hotel itself?

I have stayed at both. The Ramada is losing its luster, but the location is great, The Hyatt is nicer, but the location sucks. I am tempted to try the San Vicente Inn next time.

Windham Suites in WEHO would be a better choice. The Ramada is overpriced at 100. per night. The hotel has not been kept up properly. Though the location is excellent it's also very noisy and unsecured.

I'm with Lucky. Never stayed at either the Ramada or Hyatt, but I've been in both several times. For a "hotel", the Hyatt wins hands-down but the location isn't great.

My preference is the San Vicente Inn. As a hotel, it ain't great. You get very little beyond a room. (It is at least clean!) If you stay there, be sure and request a "privacy" room so you're not sharing a bathroom.

The location is awesome. You're steps away from the WeHo strip, all the restraunts, bars, and clubs, and as you're stumbling back to your room you just might hook up at the SVI coming through the hotel entrance/pool area.

"Next month" isn't a great timeframe to visit a clothing-optional "resort" in LA. But I doubt the weather slows the place down much. }(

The Hyatt is perfectly fine; nothing to write home about but at $55 not much to complain about either. However, just be aware that the way Priceline does its zones you also run the risk of getting the Holiday Inn in Hollywood, which I don't recommend. If you instead bid at the four star level, however, the only hotel in the Hollywood/West Hollywood zone that comes up on Priceline is the Wyndham Belage on San Vicente and Sunset. Not quite as good a location as the Ramada but a bit closer to the action (and certainly within walking distance) than the Hyatt and much nicer. The rooms are generally quite large (they were originally supposed to be condos, I've heard) and can often be upgraded for $10 a night, so ask at the front desk -- you'll get a huge room with a great view if they're available. Another plus is that the Wyndham has high-speed internet access, unlike the Hyatt. The only drawback is that you have to use your keycard to operate the elevator, which means that if you have visitors you have to come down and meet them in the lobby. Also they only have valet parking -- no self-parking, but that usually is only about $4 cheaper a night anyway (it just means you may have to wait for your car if they're busy). I've always gotten it for $80 or $90 a night whenever I've booked it on Priceline.

I'd pass on the Ramada--it's dirty, old and the staff has a terrible attitude. I've stayed there a couple of times due to the location and both times was treated rudely and had room problems. The last time, I had to move to 3 different rooms to get an AC that worked--and they treated me like it was my fault. Very poor managment and NO upkeep whatsoever.

For business I like to stay at the Ramada, because the location, and the gay coffeeshop right outside (ha!) But the hotel is as bad as a Motel 6. Hyatt is nice but the location is bad, try San Vicante, Le Montrose, Le Parc or Elan.

I saw Santa wearing red underwear!:+

West Hollywood Hotels

This has been discussed many times on the site and there are always a lot of impressions, but the consensus has largely been that the Ramada is not worth the price they want, the Wyndham is a great hotel if you can get it at a good price, otherwise you might negotiate directly with the Sommerfield Suites. Opinions on San Vincente Inn are mixed, with some people enjoying it and others not. I have to state that in my opinion, few of the rooms there are worth the money they want and given the time of the year, I think you would be more comfortable elsewhere.

Here are some threads you might find helpful, with a diverse varierty of opinions from a number of different people on this site:

I stayed at the Ramada West Hollywood in August. I paid much less than $100/night. I got the lower rate by calling them direct and asking for any specials. The rate I got from them was even cheaper than Hotels.com.

I found the building to be secure and the staff was very accomodating. Actually, they weren't just accompdating they were very helpful. I really liked the in-room safe. I had a escort visit me while there and he was able to come directly to my room with no problems. The cafe was going through a major remodeling so I don't know about that.

The room itself was badly in need of new decorating. It reminded me of art deco from the 1960's. But the bed was comfortable, the AC worked just fine, and there was always plenty of hot water. The ice machine was in good working order.

The pool is the size of a postage stamp. But, if you're only interested in getting a tan, it's OK.

I really liked it because of the location. I'd stay there again if the price was right.

I think the Ramada's problems are exaggerated. I stay there several time a year, primarily because of the location near to the WeHo spots. I have reservations for New Years this year. A bit pricey but it works for me.

Another place to consider is Le Reve. It's on Cynthia Ave., at the corner of Cynthia and Larrabee, which is a block up from all the places on San Vicente. I used to live on Larrabee, and a couple of times friends who were visiting stayed at Le Reve, and liked it a lot.

Here's a description I found on the net:

8822 Cynthia Street

West Hollywood, 90069

WEST HOLLYWOOD

The Le Reve Hotel is a limited service first class studio-suite hotel located an equal distance between Hollywood and Beverly Hills in an area known as Melrose Place, near Santa Monica, Sunset Blvd., and San Vincente. Tourist and vacationers are sure to appreciate the closeness that this property provides to area attractions such as Pacific Design Center, Universal Studios, Hard Rock Café, Hollywood Bowl, and House of Blues. Set in a residential neighborhood, overlooking Hollywood Hills, this hotel features nicely appointed guest rooms with a refrigerator and fireplace.

A country French and pine motif graces each of the studio suites. This is certainly a great hotel for those who are looking to be close to the strip, yet also want to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all. The friendly and courteous staff enjoys providing personalized service for all quests. It is Valadon's top priority to present its staff in a professional and hospitable manner. The Le Reve Hotel is minutes to fine dining, shopping and entertainment.

Le Reve is now called La Valadon-much better choice than the Ramada or the San Vicente Inn.I despise the Ramada,I was there the weekend they opened and they have not changed the Decor(or the furniture)in 14 years!

The Bel Age is great also

Go to the wyndham.com sit and see if you can book at a special rate.Wyndham also has a Summerfield suites right around the corner from the Ramada.

I stayed at The Wyndham Summerfield Suites in October, and am returning next month. Good bang for the buck. Large suite with kitchen

and balcony. Rooftop pool. Nice staff. Just north of Trader Joes.
