I have always been an average to possibly slightly about average looking man. On my best days, I was a 7 by my own standards and on my worst, I did not look in the mirror, so I have no idea just how bad, bad was.

Lately, with a new haircut, a fresh well trimmed beard and a 50 pound weight loss, I have been getting some compliments. I figure, after years of hanging in the 3-5 range, I have moved up to slightly above average for age, but even so, I am no where as attractive as compared to when I was 20 or 30 or 40 or...well you get the idea.

My question is for the men here who were startlingly good looking in their youth and who have seen the bloom come off the rose. Do you still feel like a 10 though you are clearly becoming a 9...8....7....6....5...? or do you think: "Not bad for an old geezer, my only regret is that i can't date myself." Or did the confidence go the way og the 28 inch waist with the 40 inch chest?

I don't know if I was a "10" but I was considered very good looking in my 20's and did some print and runway work. Interestingly enough I'm much more confident today in my 60's and I wouldn't trade how I feel now for how I looked then.

Dear PK - congratulations! I find it inspiring hearing stories of 'maturing' men taking such care of themselves. In addition to looks, your overall health will be better and you will feel sexier. To me, that's where it all starts. Why not post a picture of the 'new' you :) A confident man with a friendly, engaging attitude is a lot more attractive than a 30-year old with perfect abs who behaves like a b**ch.

I get more attention as a daddy than I ever did as a younger man, mostly because, as a younger man, even though I was pretty attractive, I was pretty shy and just didn't have the inner game to go with the looks. Now, I'm always curious about others, eager to get to know them and generally pretty comfortable in my own skin, and it makes a big difference in the number and type of people who show up in my life.
