That is my busy season back in south florida but since DC Is a new market for me I feel as though I should attend and support the event as Daddys has been so helpful in the second part of my escorting career. I just spent a very satisfying evening with Legendary Dave and I told him that i would occasionally post on this thread to remind people of the plans for the weekend in Washington. Dave has been diligently working on plans for the weekend and he has some great ideas but could always use some additional notions. So if you are planning on attending and/or if you know the gay scene in Washington DC, post here and share them.

The hope is to carry on a tradition that spans back the early part of the second decade of the third millenium. It has been suggested that the motto for this get together should be Getting men laid in the nation's capital since 2011. as purplekow just mentioned the other day, we had many things to attend to while we were alone together. one thing he told me he always wanted to try but never had was... talking about the DC Daddy's Luncheon while naked (!!!) so we did that, too - who am I to refuse a fetish?

a bunch of us have traditionally met at the DC Eagle for drinks on the friday night before the luncheon.

over this past year, the Eagle has moved, but only a little further away than it had been from the MAL host hotel site. both locales would require a fairly short taxi ride.

 

anyway, I've been monitoring the Eagle's new location, and planned to check it out to see that it would still be a good place for our friday night destination. it was supposed to open this weekend, but there's a delay. from The Washington Blade this week:

 

The DC Eagle announced on its website that it has postponed its reopening at its new home in a converted warehouse building at 3701 Benning Road, N.E., which had been scheduled for Nov. 22.

“It is with much regret that we announce the DC Eagle will not be open as planned for our Anniversary weekend November 22,” the announcement says. “We are diligently working to finish the new DC Eagle and hope to announce its grand reopening soon.”

fingers crossed that it'll be up and running in the next few weeks. I'll keep my eye on it.

I've been watching the thread about the DC Daddy's Luncheon in January and would love to attend but I have to confess to still being uncertain about the date(s) and other details. From what I understand, the luncheon is sometime during the MAL event (Jan 16-19). I'm trying to decide on dates for my flight and hotel booking. I suppose I could register for the entire MAL event and then wait to learn the specifics about the luncheon. Or I could plan my travel dates more around the luncheon itself. I'd love to hear any additional details about the luncheon and about plans from attendees.

 

By the way, I love your posts to the M4M forum, Thanks for organizing this luncheon. It will be my first!

as Purplekow has said, the DC luncheon is a tradition that spans back “the early part of the second decade of the third millenium.” over all this time, things build upon other things, and someone climbs on someone else (JD on Amir, maybe...), and things get a bit confusing. so let me try to clarify how the event is planned here:

 

the luncheon itself is sunday january 18th. we’ll gather at noon in a casual restaurant (meaning, it won't break the bank, LOL), in the dupont circle neighborhood of dc. the luncheon will probably go for 1.5 hours, maybe 2 hours tops. one NEED NOT attend NOR register for MAL to attend the luncheon - they are two separate events. we hold the luncheon on the same weekend as MAL, because some of the men who attend it also like to be at some or all of the MAL events. by the way, if youve never been to a leather event, this one is a GREAT one to come to - it's very "open-armed" and friendly to people who are not "in" the leather scene. anyway, back to other plans for the Daddy’s Reviews group:

 

after the sunday luncheon, there's been different things that have happened. some years, a bunch of us have gone to a particular nearby gay bar (where there's space to talk, laugh, and maybe walk in on shenanigans in the men’s room) for drinks in the afternoon. some years, there were tours of an infamous "Fuck House". one year, there were scenes in which five escorts demonstrated some of their best practices in their trade ...orchestrated by Yours Truly. who knows what'll be on the agenda for this year? I do... although I'm still working some details...

 

two days beforehand, on friday night - january 16th, those of us who are in town, and free (meaning, not going off to a fistfucking party, or to a club to dance shirtless with 300 other sweaty guys, or into a one-on-one escort appointment) - we have gathered at the Eagle Bar for drinks and conversation. The Eagle's relocated and about to re-open soon, so I've been watching that activity like a hawk (groan for the pun). if it's not open by MAL, I will pick another place to gather that evening.

 

*Nota bene: while most of the locale names are not published on the forum for privacy reasons, the Eagle is large enough that our small group won’t easily be found. hence, I feel comfortable in announcing that some of us will be there... if the damned thing opens, that is.

in the past on saturday evening - jan 17, a group of men have gone to a strip club here in dc. that's not my scene, and I'm hired then anyway, so I'm wondering if there's someone reading this forum and coming in for the luncheon who might like to take the lead and coordinate with me to help orchestrate a saturday night strip club trip. it's not very hard - its basically just being a point person for guys who are interested in going as a small group to a club, to watch men take their clothes off and dance above you. simple, really.

I received a Private Message the other day, that I’m going to copy here. I suspect others may have similar questions in their heads. the names have been changed (well, omitted, actually) to protect the innocent:

 

“I'm thinking about attending with someone and was wondering if there was a deadline to RSVP? Also, as you know I'm private about this aspect of my life, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with being in the public in a setting such as this. I know you can't tell me if anyone there will know me, but do you have a sense as to how visible the group will be? Thanks.”

I’ll still need to make some final logistical arrangements based upon the numbers, so that sounds about right to me. hope everyone can make a determination if they’re going to have lunch that sunday, january 18th, five days before that

 

::: you’re not comfortable being in public in a setting such as this... I understand your concern. as someone who is not “visibly” out (meaning, there are no face pics of me online, due to custody issues) I know the feeling of what it would be like if someone realized “what we are” at the luncheon. in fact, in past years, I was one of the most vocal about keeping the luncheon discreet. it’s actually not that hard to do, and this seems like a good time to mention some key points...

 

1. the luncheon is just lunch, in a restaurant. while it’s not in a private room of a restaurant, It’s not going to turn into a sex orgy. its also not like browsing the windows in amsterdam’s red light district. nothing we do will look especially odd to outsiders - it will just be a bunch of people having lunch.

 

2. the overwhelming majority of clients and escorts who will attend are concerned with discretion. people feel strongly that this stay as a discreet luncheon.

 

3. there will not be any signs up that will give us away. nothing outside the place (or inside) that would say “Daddy’s” or “The Daddy’s Luncheon” or “DaddysReviews” or anything like that.

 

4. if we reach a certain number of people, the restaurant will be completely closed to the public. It’s not a huge place anyway, and our numbers are getting up there... there are factors like who signs up later than sooner, and who cancels, and who doesnt show up - aarrgh. it’s starting to sound like an escort appointment, hahaha.

 

5. if there ARE other non-daddysreviews people in the restaurant, announcements will be kept G rated and, again, discreet. for example, standing up and saying “DaddysReviews has been a tremendous force for building an amazing community of escorts and clients” is not cool. but rephrasing that to “Our site has been a tremendous force for building community spirit” would be fine. many of us have talked on the phone with an escort or client, while someone who shouldnt know is within earshot. in this setting, its about filtering, codifying, and using discretion - not being blatant and obvious.

 

6. with these steps in place, we will NOT be visible as a group of people who hire and get hired. this has worked well in the past, and I expect it to go the same way this year.

 

update on The Eagle

I got an email from The Eagle Bar (friday night venture)... they DO expect to be up and running by MAL! that’s good news, although I will continue to monitor because it ain’t open till it’s open...

if you’ve never come to the DC event, or Palm Springs, or any other Daddy’s gatherings, but you’ve been intrigued... ::: I will pair you up with a counterpart. let me give you an example... let’s say you’re a client. I’ll connect you with an escort who will meet you when you enter the luncheon, and will sit next to you during lunch. there is nothing more expected in this realm, other than a friendly face who will initally be with you in this social setting. the escort is not being hired by you, and neither clients nor escorts should expect a client/escort relationship with the pairing.

no one needs to know that I have paired “sebastian” (sample escort name) with “antoine” (sample client name) - that stays just between the three of us.

to be clear, I am not charging anything for my work with pairings.

 

fun stuff taking place that weekend

1. update on the strip club visit... we have someone from the forum who will be heading it up! details to follow on that.

2. remember how in a recent post I wrote that after the sunday luncheon, different things that have occurred in different years? well this year, I’ve got a Very Special Offer for luncheon attendees.
