I recently responded to a massage ad (from one of the national websites)… this one was for Philadelphia. The CMT was visiting the area but staying at a hotel just over the bridge in NJ. When I arrived at the hotel I couldn’t help but notice the two police cars. So I circle the parking lot and leave whereby I’m immediately pulled over for a bogus traffic violation. The officer quizzes me extensively as to ‘what I’m doing there.’ Taking anything I say and challenging its logic. It was very uncomfortable and it felt like a ‘sting.’ He eventually let me go without a citation. Anyone else run into this scenario?

Camden police have more to worry about than trying to pull a sting on escorts/clients. It's more likely that they were looking for people looking to do drug deals, and figured that was why you circled the lot but didn't park. But it does seem strange that an escort would choose to stay at a hotel there.

I didn't see that the escort was in Camden. There are many accessible hotels "over the bridges" that are not in Camden.

This doesn't sound like a sting to me, particularly since the police would not know you were at the hotel for a massage. As Charlie stated, you probably aroused their suspicion when you circled the parking lot and then left upon seeing them.

Regarding the masseur staying at a hotel in Camden, I agree it sounds a bit odd. I live on the West Coast and haven't been to Philadelphia in 20 years, but I know that Camden is to be avoided. Maybe he didn't realize where he was staying or booked it on Priceline as a hotel "near Philadelphia."

The OP actually said "just over the bridge," so I immediately concluded that it was the Ben Franklin Bridge, which would be the closest to Center City, where I would expect a traveling escort to stay. But you are correct that Camden wasn't specified in the description, so it could have been Cherry Hill, Moorestown, etc., or somewhere over the Walt Whitman (the Betsy Ross or Tacony-Palmyra are too big a stretch to be believable). But I still think it sounds like the police were waiting to catch a drug deal. Stopping and questioning someone who might be looking to meet an escort staying at the hotel would be a waste of their time.

So do Police Departments all over the country, yet they keep doing it to show how tough they are going after non-violent criminals.

You're right but I'm 90% sure it's Camden, unless there's another more known place "over the bridge".

The OP didn't say Camden, but it was almost implied because of the "over the bridge" phrase.

Maybe there was a Convention in Philly and the masseur couldn't find/afford a 4 stars hotel in City Center. Philly is a very blue collar city, not many escorts/masseur would gamble paying a lot of money for a hotel.

One more time, the OP didn't say Camden..

I already sent a PM to the OP asking him to specify the location, next time could we please ask instead of assuming and arguing about assumptions on here. I don't think whether it was in Camden or not is the main thing, the situation (what happened) is why the OP posted this to warn all of us.

I also asked the OP a link to the ad of the masseur, I don't think cops are smart enough to hack an ad of a legitimate well-known masseur.

first of all i disputed the camden reference because i didnt think it was relevant to the point. It was just putting down Camden police. Maybe they deserve to be but we are not discussing that here. second is there even a "hotel" in Camden that a right minded person would stay in? I doubt it. third. This scenario with the cop happened to me at a restaurant. I pulled into a seasonal place at the beach hoping it was open , it was not, so i just turned around and left. The cop parked there pulled me over to find out what I was doing. Let me go without an issue. So maybe it's just a case of wondering why the person left after seeing a cop car, and if drugs, sex, DUI, etc was involved.

My Center City perspective obviously led me astray--I did have the wrong bridge. I still doubt that it was a prostitution sting, since it seems too complicated to set up, and the cops would have no reason to assume that you were the person there for a sexual appt if you didn't even park and go inside. Did you receive any communication afterwards from the masseur to ask why you didn't show up?
