Yeah I know many consider this a big bore. This year the NFL draft, where guys give up their college education to become instant millionaires, is dominated by 300 pound defensive guys who live to injure quarterbacks, running backs or whoever is carrying the ball. Visually, these guys appeal to some, but not to me. I lean toward quarterbacks. The most talked about Qback and my favorite guy to watch on the field is of course Johnny (Football) Manzeil. He is not a pretty guy but they constantly talk about his "big hands" and "big feet" and that def gets me daydreaming about this kid's sexual energy. One of the hottest QB's in the draft seems to be coming up tonight and he is Jimmy Garoppolo from lowly Eastern Illinois. Now if I can just attach his hot pic... not sure if this will do it:

He's short for the NFL which is why he got drafted so low. I can't see him making it.

He's 6'3" and 220 pounds per Wikipedia. Not so tiny. I just read an article that said the average height of NFL quarterbacks is 6'3".

Johnny Manziel is around 5'11 ... he's not even 6 feet tall. Read the scouting reports. That's the main issue with him: his lack of height.

Jimmy is a #1 pick in my book! One of the hottest QBs in recent years was Brady Quinn, who was a high draft pick for the Cleveland Browns (I think), but never made it big in the NFL. We had a selection here a few years ago of really hot football players, and I'd love to see someone who knows how to find these things work his magic on his computer. More recently, Tim Tebow was a #1 hunk -- he still is!

Yes, Brady Quinn is hot. Somewhat of a QB bust but as far as eye candy goes he is a first round pick. As far as current guys there is something about AJ McCarron that says he'd be fun in the sack. Maybe it's that good ol- boy schtick he has going.

Johnny (Football) Manzeil....only a matter of time before he's arrested....again...put on suspension...bad attitude. ( COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel was arrested and jailed early Friday after he was involved in a fight and police said he produced a fake ID.

College Station police spokeswoman Rhonda Seaton says Manziel, 19, was charged with disorderly conduct, failure to identity and possessing a false identification card, all misdemeanors. He was jailed overnight and released Friday afternoon, Seaton said.)

..Blake Bortles a much better pick......great attitude ..nice guy,,and never been arrested.....and wants to learn....Just being drafted does not get you a starting position..

Also, what happened with one of our own, Michael Sam? Did he have any luck on his side?

if he even does get picked, it'll be in one of the later rounds....it's not over yet and talk is he may not have what it takes (speed, agility) and then there's that gay thing, too

One NFL official was quoted as saying: "He's just not a good athlete."

Some of the NFL owners/upper management are enlightened - like Branch Rickey when he hired Jackie Robinson. Michael Sam is good and I will bet that an Eastern or California team takes him for that reason and also to be acknowledged as the team taking the first openly gay athlete in the draft. I'm not smart enough to figure which owner - but Sam would get a standing ovation if the 49ers take him,.

I'm glad to hear it. It would have been sad for him not to be selected after coming out. Given his college career, the idea of him not being a good athlete sounded weird (and a code for bias) until I noticed that he'd struggled during the Scouting Combine. That would definitely give teams pause and a reason not to deal with the notoriety attached to his being gay. Staying in Missouri, with its built-in fanbase if he makes the team, makes sense all around.

And he kissed his cute bf on TV.

Hopefully he makes the team. It has always seemed odd to me that a guy who allegedly isn't very good was voted the SEC (best football conference in the NCAA) defensive player of the year.

It is much easier to be a star in college than it is to be an effective player as a professional football player. Heisman trophy winners, supposedly the best football player for that year, have gone bust. It is easier to overcome limitations at the college level as you are playing against a vast majority of players who do not have the skills or physical qualities to play professional football. The professional game is much faster and the players are much bigger. So it is not odd for a player to be a starter or even a star in college and still not have the qualities needed to be an effective professional.

With that said, Mr. Sam was predicted to be a low round pick, and he was picked near the end. It may be that rather than having his stock fall because of his coming out, he instead was drafted despite his limitations because an owner valued a perceived value off the field. The Jets and Tim Tebow is a similar situation.

You could say he was "bringing up the rear." A friend commented "at least he wasn't picked by the Browns." Ah, the jokes are endless.

Here's wishing him well even if being a college star is almost a guarantee of being a bust in the NFL. Part of the problem is that most of these guys in college are part of a "system" and that doesn't exist in the NFL. Take them out of the "system" that suited their games and they're lost.

Or...at least he wasn't picked by the Packers...:p

I do hope he does well. But even moreso, I hope that all the predicted "lockerroom culture" stuff is quickly proven to be a non-issue and that everyone moves on from the "curiosity" of an openly gay player in a stereotypically macho/bigoted environment (cf. intollerances such as the Incognito/Martin incident, or the Chris Klewe debacle), to see that the important thing is the game, not whether a gay player is ogling (or perceived to be ogling) his teammates in the locker room.

Intolerance has already reared its ugly face. Some player from - guess where - Miami, has already tweeted the word "horrible" describing Sam and his bf kissing. Same old same old. Dolphin management has taken some sort of action against him.
