I've not used Grindr but I have used Craigslist and met some really fantastic guys. It seems to me the ones that complain about not being successful on CL just don't know how to use it.

 

Thank you. I have to admit I must have a short attention span because after 10 posts I just skipped to the end. I have several phones so I think I'll put an ad on Grindr like that just to see what happens .... sort of a social experiment

Here's a thought. As some of you know and some of you may not know, I am publicly against apps like Grindr. What it does is something very dangerous, it keeps us in our comfort zone with ourselves and allows us to waste precious minutes and hours of our lives talking to random pictures with no success most of the time. How can we grow sexually & emotionally if we are kept in our comfort zone? Most likely we cant.

You can't feel someone's energy from behind the screen of an I-phone. Get back into the clubs, bars, sex clubs or however you USED to meet guys, before all this crap was invented.

 

Well I certainly agree with you on several points. First, I can't speak to hiring an escort on Grindr, as I have never done that nor probably ever would, however I know friends who have hired escorts off of grindr with success, so I don't think that it is all or nothing. I do however understand the points brought up by the other escorts who have responded, though your response seems more measured and calm, without putting clients on the defensive.

 

Most importantly I like your comment that I highlighted above. When I moved to FTL, I realized that many aspects of my sexual life was stuck behind my computer screen, and relying on traditional ways of hiring and meeting people only in an on-line situation. After going through a very unsatisfactory hire with an escort, I vowed to break that habit and to get back out into the world. I was looking at so many things in my life one dimensionally. It was life changing in many respects, as I suddenly found a whole community of guys that I could interact with. I have met some wonderful people that I now count as my new friends in a new city.

 

My hiring is primarily out of the clubs with the boys that dance. I hire after knowing and socializing with them over a period of sometimes several weeks, and then only when I am sure that there is a connection. This works for me, and by no means would I suggest that it is an answer for everyone, but the point is, it got me back out into the world.

 

I still hire escorts occasionally through Daddy's reviews or escorts that come highly recommended. My latest, last month, was one of the best in my life. In hindsight, I think one of the reasons that it was successful was that, besides the fact that he was absolutely an amazing person, I have changed also. I see myself and the world a little differently. As you mention, turning off your phone, and your computer, getting out into the world, and reconnecting with people, can be most rewarding indeed.

Here's my response as to why I search places other than Rentboy or Daddys. It's the same guys here over and over again and most of the ones I find attractive I've hired many times over. So where is one to look for something else, different, new? You seek out guys in other places. It's no different than dating. Would you go to the same bar over and over again to find a date or would you try different places?

 

No, it doesn't always work out but some of the best hires of the last couple years -- for me -- have been from Adam4Adam and Craigslist.

I’ve sent maybe 75 PMs total in the 15 or so years I’ve been on this site. I’ve never sent a PM to anyone I thought didn’t want to receive a PM from me. Nor, have I ever sent a PM just to call someone a name. It just seems really childish to me. Is that what most forum members use PM for? It’s just never occurred to me to do that.

Exactly. You do have to screen carefully, but not every escort that takes these routes is slumming. You can find some very hot guys who are more low key and sometimes less business-like, in a good way.

Bingo! Great answer. I've been gratefully using Craigslist, BP and A4A for some years now and been somewhat lucky with hires from Grindr so far. I just take the anti-econolisting FUD spewed in this forum as general tribal resentment towards the non-pros, I just hope it all doesn't put off the more adventurous newbies from trying to hire via alternate media, takes a bit more trial and error but it's been worth it, They've provided me several rewarding long-term "virtual boyfriends".
