Spent some time organizing my spreadsheet and adding a "# guys" column that I can sum up. I'm still having the occasional moment of "Oh, I forgot about that guy", in fact had one this morning after seeing a guy on Rentboy who occasionally visits Detroit. And I'm feeling more than a bit slutty about that. , As of this morning it's 143 guys.

 

I'm thinking that I'll have to make sure #150 is someone awesome. Kind of like Barney and his 100th girl on How I Met Your Mother.

I've had several "regular Escorts" who have either "retired" from "the business," or who have moved to someplace where I don't ever travel (like Hamburg, Germany). In a couple of cases those who have retired are still seeing a select group of clients, and I'm among them.

 

I have also recently had a new hire who was very promising, with an excellent "first date," who on our second "date" no-showed. He contacted me the next day with an excuse, but he has not followed up on my response ... even though I offered to give him another chance on a date in January. This has been very disappointing.

 

Even worse, however, has been one of my go-to regulars who has only managed to keep 2 out of 6 (or 1/3) of our scheduled appointments in 2013. I always book engagements a month or more in advance (my scheduling requires it), but apparently this has caused problems for us in his being able to keep our scheduled dates. He tends to cancel just a few hours prior to the meeting time ... and, often, too late for me to schedule with someone else. This is most unfortunate and unhappy because, in half of those scheduled dates that he has canceled, I had traveled to his area specifically and only to see him ... so I was out airfare, hotel charges, and a day of my time ... for nothing.

 

I have hired several escorts over a 15 or so year period. I have not kept count but its probably somewhere between 50 and 200. Like others have mentioned, due to unreliability, posted rate escalation, misrepresentation etc., my hires have greatly decreased. This has definitely gotten worse over the years. The cancellation by an escort I had an ongoing association with on a Mediterranean cruise earlier this year that cost me thousands in unrecoverable expenditures and the vacation itself put a huge damper on things for me in this area. You can only be fucked over so many times before you just say the whole damn thing isn't worth it anymore. The only thing I have considered since is booking an hour long appointment on the day of the appointment only- with 1 exception- I am trying with a weekend booked in advance in early 2014. The sad part is I will actually be surprised if the escort does show up. At least all I will be out on this hire is an airplane ticket if that happens.

 

My best hire EVER remains a college student that had no reviews and never advertised. One of my worst hires ever remains an escort reviewed on this website, wildly promoted in this message center by some, and listed by at least 1 person as an escort of the year candidate. Go figure

Like others have mentioned, due to unreliability, posted rate escalation, misrepresentation etc., my hires have greatly decreased. This has definitely gotten worse over the years.

 

I'll certainly take your word and experience for it; my hiring pattern really hasn't been such for me to be able to say if it's gotten worse over the years. I know that I've had no-shows and cancellations from Escorts all throughout my hiring history, but it's only been this year (2013) that escorts I've previously seen, really like, and trust that have either canceled, no-showed, or otherwise "flaked out" on me. I accept that, on rare occasions, Escorts will have to cancel for good reasons: health, weather causing travel disruptions, etc. I don't like it, but I can accept it. Indeed, as a Client I've had to cancel (on very rare occasion) for similar reasons.

I remember when you shared this event on the board; that was, indeed, brutal. And, I know what you mean about how it puts a huge damper on things. Due to a history of last-minute cancellations, I've found it difficult to even want to try and see a certain, very well reviewed and respected Escort again. I like him a great deal, would love to see him again, but when I can't even get him to respond to my emails I must admit that the frustration factor goes way up.

Minimizing losses is sometimes all one can do. I've begun setting up contingency plans -- who to call or what to do in case of cancellation, etc. I'm not going to travel to a distant city in order to see an escort, only to have him cancel when I'm exiting the aircraft, and not have something else to do with the trip. Otherwise, it just becomes an expensive and not very efficient "milage run."

As I think we all know, "milage" and circumstances will always vary. Sometimes unfortunate things transpire that are not always the fault of the Escort (or the Client). Shit happens. I don't like it; the escort doesn't like it; but there's not much that can be done to make things right.

I've found that my hiring patterns have changed in being more discriminatory. When I first started hiring, about a decade before I came out, it was just thrilling to be with a guy, any guy. There were a couple awful experiences (a guy whose apartment was epically filthy - a badly backed up toilet and flies),some that were great, some that were just so so. Whether it's advancing age & decreasing libido, or just more experience, I'm just less interested in a lot of the ads, or I get the impression that they're not going to be anything more special than the ones I've seen before. Sometimes I look through the ads in Detroit (the same 25-30 guys on M4RN, same 8-12 guys on RB) and think "Why bother?"

Great thread! I think I've seen 40-50 escorts (I've included erotic massage) with a total of about 70 actual experiences, meaning I've hired the same guy several times.

 

I remember the first time I hired was right after I came back a month in Europe in August 2003. Back then, dollars were worth more so I purposely saved my euros knowing they'd convert to more dollars when I arrived back in the states. Weird logic but I was 21 at the time. Anyway, I had really wanted to see Jackd Muscled (Mike). I set something up and I arrived about an hour late - bad traffic and I got stuck at home talking to family. He was more than understanding and incredibly generous with his time. Overall, it was a great experience and he really put me at ease. I've seen him a few more times throughout the years.
