The funniest thing I have ever seen posted on the Message Center has been deleted by the moderator so that the rest of you will not likely see it in its original context. Bluenix had posted one of his very dry humor pictures in response to a thread in the Escort Travels section, but it is not there anymore. I understand that there is a concern that that forum be limited to escort travel statistics, but it is a forum, and sometimes responses can really liven it up, and, as in this case, brighten our day!

The escort travels posts are deleted when the escort’s travel days expire.

It has been this way from day one.

FYI: When I delete the posts in the Escort's Travel Section, I do not look at the member's name, the cit, the number of responses, the content --- only the date.

I am sorry if you were unaware of this long-standing policy.

The extent of my unawareness cannot be measured. Every day I realize more and more how little I know. Seriously. Aging is humiliating to the ego!

Nonetheless, the deleted post of which I spoke is for an escort trip that hasn't started yet, so the deletion was not because the trip was over. And, although I thought the post was hilarious, I can see where others might not.

Incidentally, choosing STJ for the coverboy was a good example of how you can make a statement without words. In this case, I thought it was really clever and then you go and say you didn't premeditate it! Oh well, it is a nice pic...:)

I'm glad you can understand the alert we received. I was really losing sleep over it.

I think it's pretty clear from what Hoo wrote that he thought the entire travel post was deleted, which it would be if the date had past. To me it's clear he didn't go and read it and therefore wasn't aware of what you were talking about.

I saw the pic that was deleted and can certainly see where some would find it in bad taste. I have a little Goth in me and sometimes enjoy dark humor (humour for Matt). I took the pic as humor but understand why we received an alert and take no issue with it's deletion.

Jeez Lucky...do you see conspiracy everywhere? STJ's reviews went up today on the 30 day seperation rule. There were very few face pics in today's bunch (3?) and the only other one I would have picked was just coverboy less than 2 weeks ago. IMHO, STJ was the best choice.

I take no issue either. In his sometime posts to the message center Mr. Gartner seems impervious to innuendo, so I thought no harm done by posting the pic, which was definitely meant in a humorous vein. Only when it was deleted did it occur to me that one might read my post as trying to deflect business from the boy, which I never meant to do. My apologies in this regard.

Now I have a question. Your post, Barry, suggests that to receive an alert is to act on it. Yet nowhere in the message center FAQ are "alerts" mentioned. Can you elaborate on this mechanism?

Barry did not make that assertion. Here's how it works.

Alerts are delivered to all of the operators and moderators. That's a varied crew on a varied schedule with varied sensibilities and mood swings.

If an alert hits a moderator in a grumpy mood, they may delete the post and move on. If an alert is truly questionable, it will likely be discussed in the Moderators' forum before any action is taken. Alerts that are plain pestersome may get ignored entirely. We're human.

There's a wide range of possible responses.

Sending an alert guarantees you that someone may (or may not) look at the issue at hand and may or may not act on it. I may overlook an alert that Barry acts on, and vice versa, depending on available time and our moods. That's all. We make no promises, and your mileage may vary.

We very much appreciate the people who care enough about this message center community to submit well-reasoned alerts when an issue may need to be addressed. We also will not allow the alert system to be used for targeted witch hunts by whiners.

We'll look at updating the Message Center Rules (which are quite out of date) and consider adding something about alerts in our copious spare time. :9

RE: Paging Barry

We share in the hubbub, blu. I'm the moderator that deleted it.

I thought the post was an absolute HOOT! It was COMPLETELY appropriate for the escort's personality.

But we had that complaint, and where there's one complaint there are usually a dozen others that will come in later. Plus, that forum isn't really intended for discussion in the first place. It's an announcement forum where we're sorta loose about the rules.

It was a busy day, and we had a complaint, and I was like "OK, I can see how people could take this the wrong way out of context". It WAS sorta like walking up to the airline couter at O'Hare and saying "I only want to check the bag with the bomb." ;-)

(Remember that not all readers read everything. Someone reading only the escort travels section wouldn't know the backstory.)

I'm as sorry (or half-sorry) as you for all the hubbub. But conspiracy theortists will create hubbub wherever they can. :7

The Blind Leading The Blind

Some of you may remember some time ago when Bad Apple #1, 2, 3, et al., was randomly posting falsehoods, half truths, lies, innuendo and, let us not forget that favorite of all excuse, "I was only attempting to be funny, jeez don't take it so seriously...." type comments. For the most part, I either respond directly to the poster, for example, or others do (depending on whom is being attacked).

In Escort Travels, I alterted the moderators to a post that had nothing to do with my Travel Post that has a wholly inappropriate comment. I am a big boy and can take care of myself but Deej and Barry are correct in certain respects. There are a large number of people who only read the reviews and Escort Travels and never look at much of the rest of the Message Center. There are certainly many who do not read it on a daily basis.

Generally, I like Blue Nix's picture commentary posts. On many occassions I have found them to be perfect examples of one image stating what hundreds of words could not. However, it would be nice, from the escort's perspective, if that forum was simply left to the original escort post and any other information the escort decided to provide, such as changes in announced plans. Some of the "bumping" for favored escorts, some of the commentary, even the humor such as Lucky's bid on Rod Hagen's "slot" is best left elsewhere.

The alter feature is on the post, I am not certain if you need to be logged in to access it, but I find it a beneficial tool and helps the community here both police itself and one another.

I agree that Blu gets the award for funniest thing ever posted, but for me it was the baby flipping the bird. I can't even remember what it was in response to, but I still have the picture and laugh everytime I see it.

My curiosity is peaked. Couldn't you post it in this thread without causing a brouhaha?

Ah, yes. It was in a shouting match with Ethan.

It won't work as well here, but...

"Bon Voyage"
