We all have our budgets. I doubt I would ever pay anyone $300/hour for a hook-up (well, maybe in a decade or two that won't seem like the higher end of the market), but if I did it would have to be for someone well known. I don't find $300/hour (or even more) an unusual rate for someone well known from porn or even for someone at his prime in terms of looks and fitness. What surprises me is the number of people who price themselves at the top end of the market who are average at best. I know that not everyone finds the same things attractive, but I'm simply surprised that some guys are able to find anyone willing to pay that much per hour for their company when there are so many other men available at a lower rate.

When i lived in NOLA and went up from 150 to 200 I was scared i went too high but that rate actually is fairly good on the market. It has done well. It is high enough to discourage truly cheap clients but low enough that you dont have to be rich or wealthy to have a great experience. My new competitor down here in fla is 350 an hour and that is IF he shows up.... http://www.rentboy.com/magicmikey

I truly do not understand why anyone would pay $300, $350 or $400 for an escort. Is it because they have money to burn? There are too many good looking guys for a lot less.

Fella, you've been pissing and moaning about money as long as I can remember. Maybe you need to get out of Thailand and see how the real world spends cash.

Complaining about a rate is a waste of time. I reckon if you can afford it, you will. If not, move on to someone else.

I would make a few exceptions for the $300 an hour guys, but generally speaking, I'm a $200 to $250 an hour kind of client. And my two regulars in Atlanta charge less than $200 an hour. Besides being great sex partners, the lower rates are one reason they get my repeat business.

I'd have to have a significant windfall to plop down more than $300 an hour. It's just not in my budget, and even if it were, probably not in my inclination.

But yes, as long as I'm finding great hires at $200 or less and have two great regulars at that range, I don't feel any compulsion to shell out $100 more an hour. (Again, I would make a few exceptions -- Rafael Alencar, for instance. He's $300 an hour and I'd pay it. In fact, I plan on contacting him my next visit to NYC. But if he went over that, I wouldn't hire him. Plenty of $200 to $300 guys in NYC who would be a lot of fun).

If a escort is in his prime, from looks, body, how he markets, his intelligence, his pictures.. I see so many guys with phone pictures, showing there dick.. Trust me there are the 300-350 escorts who do well, and if not there can be one very shortly who could kill it.

300-350, you can so do that and get tons of business if you can create a image that rises above the market.

What if a escort, created a scene from a movie.. But he was replicating the actor, example brad Pitt in fight club.. Or he could replicate James dean with the bomber leather jacket.. Along with a top end photographer, then he markets himself that way.. I know for a fact people would pay 300, it's like seeing a gq model from a magazine and you can hire.. The closest escort I've seen who have replicated this is Amir, and d.o...

Griffin is a smart boy. Nonetheless, beyond marketing an "image", the "proof of the puddin'" for the majority of the clients is betweenst the sheets.

I agree with the statement between the sheets, but if you know how too market your image correctly that's were the traffic will be coming. There is still a huge stigma towards escorting, but there's a huge opportunity to kill the stigma and market it as glamorous.

Decatur, I am with you "all of the way!" I tend NOT to go the $300 route but stay within the $150-$250 range. Two regulars with whom I've had some "stellar play" {in San Francisco} request between $150 and $200; another one who has a day job in computers and travels extensively for his job as well as for some "hot play" has had the same fee of $150 for the past 9 years. He, too, is hot and exceptional and has over 80 reviews here. {Charles, SF}.

To conclude- I'll fork out $300 very rarely and only for a super-known, highly reviewed escort!!!! -:) -:)

$200 an hour really is my sweet spot as well, Axiom. The lower a guy goes from that amount, the more and more I wonder whether he's a hustler or a fly-by-night guy who doesn't know what he's doing. The higher and higher a guy goes above $200, the more I have to question how much I want to be with him and how much more I'm getting for my money.

I basically have $200 a month I can spare for this "hobby." And I like to hire about once a month. So if I go above $200, that wrecks the next month. So I have really question how bad I want to bust the budget.

Now for NYC, I add $50 to the whole thing because of the cost of living there.

Also, I'm not that caught up in specific looks or types. I'm not that any more impressed with a very muscled guy than I am with a guy with a lean, trim body. I'm no more swayed by model looks than just good ol' fashioned good looks. I'm much more interested in the guy's techniques, specific interests and what his sexual psychology is. I learned a long time ago that great looks don't equal great sex.

So a great ad/reviews from a $200 an hour guy with medium looks will get my attention faster than a $300 an hour guy who has a model's looks.

Here's an example of someone who really turns my crank and I'd be very interested in hiring one day:

http://www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=284676

He's Kal-El in Manhattan and he's got an excellent price for Gotham City: $220 an hour for an in-call. I like his body, I like his looks, I like his ad, he's well-reviewed and just feel like he'd be dripping with top-guy sexuality. But I don't see him as "model" handsome and he's not a muscle-worship type.

But I'd definitely want to hire Kal-El before I'd pay $320 an hour for someone who might be more muscled up or has more of a "model's" looks or porn-star cache. I just have a feeling Kal-El would rock a great fuck for a good price.

Because $299, $349, or $399 may not be enough.

Ha!

Actually, I was talking about that little pricing plan last week with an escort. Stores do that all the time - they know that $199, for instance, sounds much more inviting than $200, even though if you apply your rational mind for a minute you realize there's no real difference there. (But the fact that the first number is still a 1 and not a 2 does seem to make a difference, lol). But we did joke that maybe he should try to advertise for $199 and see if he gets more response. ;-)

(And then, if you pay him an even $200, I think you would have to specify that the extra $1 is NOT really a tip - because as a tip amount that would be rather crass, lol.)

Maybe a loyalty program. The escort gives you one of those punch cards, and after the 10th fuck you get a freebie.

It's the same exact reason you pay somebody $150. Not everybody gets to wear designer clothes But that doesn't Mean everybody has to go naked
`

You're going to have to explain this one to me. To me, it's either a non sequitur or one of those gnomic utterances that sound portentous but don't mean anything.

I think you're saying, "stay in your price range and don't question your betters." But that sounds like a put-down.
