The No Hitter thread reminded me how fun it is to compare notes about hunky athletes.

 

I'm an avid fantasy sports player (not in the sexual, but the competitive sense, lol). Particularly baseball. And I have to admit I'm quite good at it. I've been nationally ranked in the top 5 at such sites as SportingNews.com.

 

The one thing missing in all my leagues is, well, that kind of no holds/holes barred discussion. Virtually all my fellow "owners" are hetero as they come. And that's fine. But I was thinking, wouldn't it be fun to start a league of jock admirers, where in the league message board we could lust after our sexual fantasies?

 

All the major sites (ESPN, Yahoo, CBS, etc) offer free leagues, and it's easy to join and get a user name if you don't already have one. I don't think any open post All-Star-Break leagues. But if anyone has interest in starting one next year, let me know. Most of the leagues I participate in are for money (we use a service called LeagueSafe to hold the funds until after the season). But I'd be happy to do a totally free league just for kicks.

Unfortunately, I don't think the parameters can be set to good looks (which, to be honest, is a subjective criterion anyway). But we could discuss creative awards.

I've never really had much interest in "fantasy sports" per se, aside from fantasizing about the players, lol - but I'd consider giving this a shot. batter up! (And I do mean up!...)

So I'll refresh this thread every so often. And come March we'll put together a league.

 

Any suggestions for prizes (assuming we all contribute something)?

Congrats commissioner. I think you have to have some sort of entry fee to ensure people follow through with their commitments. Maybe you can get one of the all-star escorts of this forum to provide an hour of services to the victor (if the entry fees will cover it). You could have each team specify the escort they will be playing for.

 

Maybe we can all vote a special beauty prize by vote for the team that drafts the "hottest" roster too. All the teams could vote after the draft or auction.

Excellent ideas, DtB! If everyone in a 10-team league committed to a $25 ante each, all proceeds to the winner, then that would pay for an escort... Though personally I prefer to offer prizes to 2nd and even 3rd place finishers.

 

It is a pretty big time commitment. A 6-month marathon, setting rosters every day, keeping track of the latest news. I'd be happy to suggest various sites that other team owners could consult for advice and updates.

 

But again, I should stress that I'm pretty good at this, which in no way guarantees that I'd win, but it's a rare league in which I'm not competitive to the end of the season at the very least. Don't want to seem like I'm hustling anyone!
