Considering a complete website for myself and was wondering how much it would actually be used. Do clients visit it if one is available and does it help make a more informed decision, or is the ad site (rentboy, rentmen, m4rn) enough?

When a masseur or escort has a website available, I always look at it before deciding whether to hire him. The more information, the better -- to a point. I guess that point is that if a website becomes either too grandiose or too rigid, it might move me from a will hire to won't hire. But providing additional photos and some text to give an idea of who you are as a person is always welcome.

Good points...that "more you know" concept was the idea, I guess. The best clients I've had seem to do the most research and appreciate knowing more about me as an escort. I think simple is better, looking at what most guys are doing.

Ace, from a client's POV:

I think a website to supplement your ad is a great idea. It signals to me that the escort has really thought about his business and means to do well. It signals the escort is not someone who impulsively threw up an ad one night but is someone serious about his work.

It also gives you a chance to provide more photos and more information, especially beyond the restrictions of men4rentnow. (I think rentboy and rentmen probably provide enough information for me if the escort writes a good bio and actually appears to have used the choice menus properly). I would just expand on the cautions above:

1. Don't go too grandiose with it. That positive can become a neutral or even a negative if it's too elaborate or hard to navigate. Keep it relatively simple to navigate, easy to read (skip the fancy fonts and text over colors, etc.) and avoid gimmicky pic displays and music that automatically comes on when you go to the site.

2. Don't start it if you can't keep it up. If I go to a website and I can tell it hasn't been updated in a year, that makes me think the escort might not even be in business anymore.

To that end, I'd set up a site that's easy to maintain, and I wouldn't add a blog element unless I could keep it up.* However, if you can keep up the blog element, that's a fantastic feature. Tom Isern's blog sealed the deal for me with him.

Make sure your website information can hold up to months passing with no updates if you're not going to be able to return to it often. I'd probably rotate in a few new pictures every nine months or so.

I really like an easy-to-use, regularly maintained calendar feature. That along with a well-written bio that reveals the type of encounter I can expect and some good pictures are all I really need.

David-SF has a really good website. You could model yours after his, refine it to your own needs but it wouldn't need to be as elaborate as his.

* Most blogs have this initial burst of activity followed by months of no entries at all. If you had a blog feature, two short entries each month would be a lot better than 20 long ones in July followed by radio silence!

Great advice! Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it's worth the effort. I keep a blog for my day-job, so I was going to ask how important that was. I'm accustomed to updating one, so it's good to know it's used. I'll check the sites your reference and glean a little insight there, too. Appreciate it!

yes, DG makes some very practical points....deciding on a website is important and I'm glad you're at least considering one....but it may not be necessary, as I presume most clients will look in the regular RB, RM, etc. sites first (and only?)....most important is to maintain a presence here at Daddy's, keep the ads on RB, etc. -type websites, develop a rep as a good guy (but you've already done that....)....keep contact info visible, complete, and accurate

and, yeah, websites with silly fonts, irritating music, busy graphics, complicated navigation are horrible....some people try too hard and it shows......KISS (keep it simple, stupid!)

You got it! I'll start working on it. Since I'm in such a remote area geographically, I figure it takes a lot to get folks interested...and keep them interested! :)

Lots of people will probably go to the cite, but it might be most useful for those types who need a lot of information before making a decision. You might want to put some kind of "extra" on there like additional pictures in suits, shorts, etc to appeal to different tastes. You can also talk about your background in a marketing-y way. "I grew up here in AL and consider myself a good ol' southern boy."

As for the blog, one option is to post different fantasies that might appeal to clients.

For example, you could use the picture below. It makes you look like a young, hotshot Wall Street trader. He goes to Scores with his coworkers after work, but he's gotten sick of those girls and now wants to be with a real man. BTW, are you wearing rimless glasses there? (Can't tell without blowing up the photo.) That's totally hot.

Hadn't considered the fantasy part, but the category photography is definitely a great idea. Heaven knows, I have enough in the photo bank to have a bunch of different ones. Yes, those are glasses I wear every day. Unfortunately needed as I hate contacts and won't do lasik again!...lol.

Thanks!

FF - Like the way you think. Hot role play and very hot photo. Gives me naughty thoughts which may not have been thought of. Very enticing to include in a website.

Ace -- I have to agree with FreshFluff about how damn fucking hot that picture of you is. It makes me want to drop to my knees, I tell you!

Question -- Is your home base Birmingham? If not, where is it?

Thanks, man!! Very kind.

I live in Tupelo, MS...between B'ham and Memphis. Small city, but a good place to live if you have to be in Mississippi...lol.

Inspiring, isn't it? Of course, the real thing is beyond beautiful!:D

Did that - several times - several places - and wasn't always on my knees!:p:o

As to the original question - A well done personal website is most impressive. The suggestions already given are spot on. Simplicity, easy navigation, a variety of photos in different aspects, a minimum of wordage that gives the essential information, no annoying music or popups. But I didn't need any of that - I just met you!

It's an interesting cultural thing, but I've noticed that a lot of Latino escorts with websites, especially those hailing from South America, like to include a disco/dance track. I don't mind the song selection, but it's often loud and half the time, I can't figure out how to turn the music off. It limits the amount of time you want to spend on the site.

I will say a lot of their website are polished -- sometimes too much so. But technically impressive.

I guess I've noticed this because I'm rather partial to Latino/Hispanic men. I'll look at their websites even if I don't have any current hopes of connecting.

Woah woah woah Mr......What's that you say? OK I will need details on this.....;)

OK now that I've managed to compose myself, what was the question again? Oh yeah right. Personal websites. Well I always appreciate a personal website. If I am on the fence on hiring someone, a personal website will often make or break the decision. It tells me that the escort is professional and cares about his reputation, and he has taken time to try and connect with clients. It also tells me so much more about the person than just the sexual aspect of the escort. Brandan Steele is a good example as is Tyger's. I have not hired Tyger, but his website really gives the client a peek into his world.

I would probably hire Ace regardless, but that is mainly because he posts here, and so I feel like I already know him, but if I was not part of this forum, I can not guarantee that without a personal website that I would move forward with a hire.

I second (third? fourth? ad infinitum?) that. And hell, I might just have to visit Ole Miss. Well, perhaps when the weather is less... sultry. Ace obviously brings enough heat.

Review being written - hopefully will give details, that is if I can concentrate without being distracted by the memories.:o

Thanks for the feedback. I'll check out what those guys do and incorporate these suggestions :)

Great comments for a great guy... keep it simple,,,, change pictures every six months, and have pictures of you in different settings. That says a lot about your versatility, and I don't mean in the sack! But, while guys like nudes, guys in suits, shorts, swimming suits, climbing gear, etc. all suggest someone that would enjoy a variety of settings and occasions to have spend time with them. But as others have said, I would pass on the music. I would also say that your posts here are very good for your marketing !!

Thanks, Diver-

Appreciate the compliments...and noted! I'll definitely pass on the music. Hate that on sites, too.

Do you think having the nudes locked would be a problem? I do have some discretion concerns on a freely accessed website. Would prefer if guys asked me for the key to unlock, but that might turn off some. IDK

Thoughts?

Most folks are going to access your website via your ad, where you already show nudes. I'm not sure why you'd lock your nudes at that stage -- the horse (hung man) has already left the barn, so to speak.

On the other hand, I don't see any real harm in setting up a system for a password request either. I tend not to bother with password requests for locked galleries, for what that's worth. I'd be interested in what other clients say about that.
