Rocky Boo Hoo: I do not know this show, but I did look at the cast of characters, and there is no one listed named Downton. Are you okay? First it was Honey Boo Hoo, now imaginary people who don't exist.

funny. love downton and have seen the new season already too. the US has a lot to look forward to on this one

if you haven't seen downton, get out from under the rock and tune into pbs. better than most things on television today

Living under a rock.

I do not know this show

Sucks to be you. Anyone with any credential in the arts & entertainment world, including fans, knows the show "Downton Abbey." And most of those folk know the show "Breaking Bad." But then again, one does need a TV to enjoy these great dramas. (Unless you know how to watch them on a computer.)

I do know how to watch them on a computer. Just put the disc in. I have watched seasons one through four of Breaking Bad and like it a lot. All said, I'd rather read a book. Can you do that?

Or do you just prefer to say that anyone whose life differs from yours must be deficient? I mean, really, who cares? I gave up cable tv and I am very happy with the result. Boo hoo, baby.

Interesting stat: AMC collects $30 million a month in fees from cable providers. Yet Breaking Bad, its top show, only has about 3 million viewers. Nine million customers are paying and apparently not watching.

I don't recall ever saying that or implying it. You're sounding like a familiar troll.

I mean, really, who cares?

I certainly don't mind you calling me Rocky Boo Hoo.

Boo hoo, baby.

I certainly don't mind your sarcastic but loving endearments.

Although critically acclaimed, Breaking Bad is not a show for everyone. AMC understands this, and they're OK with the numbers.

All said, I'd rather read a book.

I like books, too, but I can never pass up an opportunity to watch Maggie Smith do her thing. Very few rip up the screen, eating scenery in each frame like her. I find too much joy in watching her perform.

The actors are in town promoting the new season (which some of us have already seen). This is one of the most brilliant promos I've ever seen, thanks to Stephen Colbert:

Thanks Rock..this is definitely FUN Stuff! I've had a thing for the great Opportunist Goodlooking in a Tux THOMAS since PBS started running Downton! Of course Maggie Smiths Character is my Favorite!

I vaguely remember in one of the shows it seemed that Thomas might be BI-Sexual? Or maybe just my wishful thinking?

I am definitely looking forward to Jan...Downton and Breaking Bad a Large Crossover Audience though I don't think so?

Yep, Thomas went butt-up for some lordling but that was to because he thought he had a shot at being promoted to valet so maybe that was just gay for pay.

Also the love of his life was a wounded (blinded?) Brit officer but that guy up and died on him.

It seemed in both Season I and 2 that there would be a sub-plot of Thomas (the handsome Rob James-Collier) the Footman being gay-friendly or at least bisexual, as others pointed out. Of course it's as if his relationship with Mrs Sarah O'Brien (the brilliant comic Siobhan Finneran, almost unrecognizable in her role here), the Ladies Maid comes across as two royal queen bitches with their plotting and conniving. It's as if Mrs O'Brien knows Tomas' deep dark secrets...

Have to say the ensambe cast is one of the BEST I have ever seen -- and yes, Maggie Smith eats up the scenary with her comments -- she is wild.

The parts - male and female - are supurb, a real gamut of UK (and Irish, Welsh, Scots and even American) actors and actresses, a pleasure to get to know and see interact week after week. Of course, continuing to have males in the plots such as Mattherw Crawley (Dan Stevens, who sports a nice chest of hair it seems under those shirts), the Irish Chauffeur Tom Branson (Allen Leech), make watching it always a pleasure.

Thomas is GAY. He has no interest in pussy. His "condition" gets some very interesting airplay in Season 3, as a former friend turns on him in a rather ugly manner. Hats off to Julian Fellowes. Now if only some of the men would drop trou and show some ass. Oh well, it is PBS.

But Boo did say this:

Sucks to be you.

If we're going to play this game, Rocky Boo Hoo came first.

But he didn't mean it.

Of course I didn't mean it. You know I like you.

Thanks for posting this - funniest thing I've seen for a while!

And yes, Thomas IS gay - how could anybody miss that? It goes to the heart of his relationship with the lady's maid.

Thanks MsGuy..I wasn't sure if that was the Scenario. "Downton" is one of the few Rerun Programs I would watch going all the way back to I Claudius & Brideshead Revisited (The ORIGINAL) I personally did not like the Brideshead Remake...

The Anna Karenina Versions with appropriate aged Actresses also very good. This Latest Theatrical Version the Actress Knightley is way to young! But Box Office I guess?

it's not at all clear that thomas went "butt-up" in the first episode. we don't really know who was the top, do we? if there was even a top/bottom relationship. it could have been all oral for all we know. and thomas is clearly not "gay for pay," although he is a total opportunist. season 3 makes it quite clear, as has been said, that thomas is into men. i'm eagerly waiting for the christmas special/season finale! as this show is a guilty pleasure.

I never used to be into it - I am not a fan of costume drama but it's a good show, quite bitchy in parts, has it's own ex working girl in it and Tom (the Irish guy) is incredibly shaggable

Yawn. Because of all the publicity about the 3rd season premiere, we watched it for the first time last night. All of the characters seem to be drawn out of the "Upstairs, Downstairs" stock book, as are their situations. I supposed it is fun to watch for the costumes and the cars, but the dialogue and action are so boringly predictable. The real Alva and Consuelo Vanderbilt, on whom Mrs. Levinson and her daughter Lady Grantham seem to be based, were actually more interesting. Maggie Smith has always been good at caricature, but the dowager countess is nothing more than that. I can't really care about the supposedly serious characters, who all seem to be channeling the original "Upstairs, Downstairs." Perhaps the first two seasons were better, but I don't intend to stay awake any more evenings to watch this one.

Knee jerk?

Charlie, shame on you. A critical opinion that comes in two seasons too late, without having seen the first two seasons, is about as laughable as Jamie Kennedy's attempt at stirring up a New Year's celebration controversy. Worthless reading.

Obviously, millions of watchers and drama critics disagree with you. I disagree, too. I think Downton is pure genius. And I've seen all that came before her.

I've seen the entire third season (downloaded it months ago) plus the Christmas special. It's my favorite so far ... but I was left shattered and in tears after the deaths of Lady Sybil and Matthew Crawley. I love how the show takes risks and let's things evolve.

Long live Downton -- or at least for two more seasons!

As you'll see in Season 3, Thomas is clearly gay and has his eyes on a new footman which leads to all sorts of drama and intrigue. A good story line.

Obviously, your intention is to spoil others enjoyment. Does this selfish behavior make you feel good about yourself? I had a feeling you weren't a nice guy from many of your postings here, and this recent bit of public disrespect confirms my suspicions.

Shame on you for being an absolute jerk.
