Boardwalk & Johnny's Report - December in Fort Lauderdale

A buddy and I spent another fun weekend in Ft Lauderdale... fun, even though the rosters were a little lackluster. Really starting to think that the internet is going to eventually kill these clubs. Can't really blame the guys working... would you rather spend 8 hours every night in a smoky room with a bunch of old guys groping you or relax at home and wait for an email or phone call where you can set a time and place and pull down the same money without having to work to get a private dance for $25 or $50... knowing you may walk out at the end of the night more broke then when you walked in with the house fee and drink prices? The hotter guys seem to escort online, leaving the 2nd and 3rd string guys to wander around the clubs.

 

That said, I always have fun when I go with my friend from up north. We started out at Boardwalk the first 2 nights. Then it was off to Johnny's. As I always do, the disclaimer... we like college age guys - twinks and muscle twinks. Not into the beefy, hairy and older dancers. So if you like the gym rats (or are a clown that talks in the third person heh heh), quick, hit the back arrow!

 

BOARDWALK: D

Absolutely dull. There was one guy who had our attention and he was a 7 at best. He was a cute twink, but the body wasn't really toned (at least enough for his chosen profession... on the street he'd turn our heads). We only saw him on Friday night but didn't stay long enough to chat him up.

 

Boardwalk was filled with the veterans... the old guys like Jimmy, the annoying guy who used to have a mullet that shouts at customers walking by while he dances... etc. There are a couple nice younger guys, but we'd seen them many times before... Corey, the long haired blond 20 something guy I think looks a little like Kid Rock and tiny 5'2ish dark haired Frankie.

 

Usually Boardwalk has one standout that keeps us at least til the 9pm cutoff for the buy 1 get 1 free drink specials... but not this trip. Both nights we were Broward bound by 8 or 8:30ish.

 

JOHNNYS: C, D-, B+

3 grades for 3 different nights. Why was Sunday night so much better? Who knows... but the Friday and Saturday night lineups were mediocre at best. If you like the white boys, you were SOL. There were like 2 or 3. One average joe off the street looking guy and one fairly cute blond named Jase... probably 21ish, average height & build, cute typical club queen type. Didn't get to chat with him much. There were probably about 20 or 30 guys roaming around. I ended up playing with a Latino guy with a smokin' hot defined twinky bod... great abs.. not model material, but it got the job done!

 

Saturday night was terrible. Just a small handful of kind of cute guys. I did notice one cute short little guy. Overheard him talking to some guys next to us... he's a gay boxer currently in college. Pretty cute. About 5'3ish, had some nice biceps.

 

Sunday night for some reason was much better. The owner (the bald guy) was in the house so maybe that's why. There were a few dancers who I didn't see Friday or Saturday, including a tall stunning guy from California. He was about 6'4, but reeked with body odor. Sad to admit it, but I did take him back. Abysmal. Arrogant. He won't be there long, apparently just a few days... which is probably a good thing. I forgot his name... but glad I took him back, because had I not, it would have always been one of those ones I'd have kicked myself for not playing with. The amateur contest was awful - I had my hopes up because there were 3 or 4 cute clothed guys roaming around. The only 2 competitors were beefy Boardwalk types. The drag queen (Mariah impersonator) was fawning over the 2nd contestant, a Latino guy... she was pretty much the only one in the place that seemed to be into him. The amateur nights can be hit or miss. I've seen some super hot guys enter... just not this time.

 

All in all, it was a fun weekend... sorry if I'm coming off negative, still glad we did the visit. Had some hotel room fun with a dancer I met at Boardwalk a few visits back... a cute athletic 21 year old Russian with a great smile and amazing personality. Almost went to Miami to meet up with a insanely hot blond guy named Jamie whose ad I saw on Rentboy. Anyone by any chance met up with him? On the phone he seemed cool, but the distance was a factor and he doesn't drive (although he does offer an outcall rate on his ad). I texted to adjust our meeting time we tentatively set and about 5 hours later got a call that he had just woken up from a nap, so he would've missed the appointment anyway. lol

 

One parting question... I made this suggestion to the Johnny's owner and he either pretended to agree or was just trying to come off nice. To me, I like to see some unique style with a dancer. When they go on stage or are wandering around the bar, how about if they started their routine in street gear? There are some dancers I've seen walking around in their undies all night who seem to turn my heads only as they're heading out the door in their street gear. I'm probably weird. I know. But when all the guys wear the same thing, dance under the same lighting, and dance to all the same horrible music that awful DJ plays, they all blend together, ya know? Thoughts?

Last time I went to the Boardwalk (6 months ago?) it was awful. I think Swinging Richards has really cut into their business.

Swinging Richards has picked up a bit especially during the week nights, now that the snowbirds have arrived. Last week they did a little decor change. The bench seats on the right side as you walk in have been replaced with tall tables and chairs. And for me, lots of hot boys.

Jake, can't thank you and EZE for the great detailed report and the heads up on the Boardwalk. Leaving for FTL next week, so this was very timely. No matter how many times it is said how dismal the Boardwalk is, I still try to give them the benefit of the doubt. It rarely works. I have given up on Johnny's and Dudes (if they are still open) and looks like we will have to make the trip into Swinging Richards. Drinking and driving is not an option, so it looks like a cab or hire a car for the evening. I just kick myself every time I walk out of the Boardwalk and I have spent any kind of money. What a waste.

 

I will say that the last time I was at Johnny's I had a good time. The bartender and I from a previous trip had a little disagreement over him disposing of my drink before I was finished. Once maybe, twice I am pissed. So this last trip he asked me what I wanted, then suddenly remembered me, our eyes met for one cold stare, and I said "nothing now" then promptly turned to the other bartender and ordered a drink. I think I tipped the other guy enough to make his rent. As long as the other guy could see that he had lost out, I was satisfied. Dumping drinks prematurely is a big pet peeve of mine....

 

 

At least at SR, despite the cost, you do walk away with a smile on your face. I have heard great things about Adam of FTL, so this trip I might give him a try....any personal info that anyone would like to share would be helpful.

Actually, Bozo was a bit more impressed with the Boardwalk offerings on this trip than previously. New dancer Jacques, 22 years-old, from Paris is quite impressive - tall and blonde, with a lean, muscular gymnast-type physique. Jacques needs to develop some "people skills", but that will come with experience. Also catching Bozo's eye was Andrei from Russia. Andrei is cute as a button with a hard lean body and a sexy, mischievous smile... These two were real standouts at Boardwalk working among a group of rapidly aging Hispanic dancers (not there's anything wrong with being a rapidly aging Hispanic dancer).

 

Last night was also made more enjoyable as Monday nights are $1.00 Taco nights at Beefcakes, the restaurant on Boardwalk's premises. Bozo loves his $1.00 tacos. Yummy !

Thanks for the current tip on Boardwalk. I don't know why, I just always have to give it at least one try. Arriving mid Dec for a little R&R...AND yes I like gym rats and clowns that talk in the third person.

 

So that is yes to Clowns, Jacques, gym rats, hot little Russian boys named Andrei ....but sadly no to the 1.00 tacos, at Beefcakes

Jake, thanks so much for the update. I’m hoping to get to Ft. Lauderdale next weekend so I appreciate your input. I’ve been watching the Boardwalk dancers on the bar’s webcam & some of them have held my interest. I know that could very well change once I get there, but I like window shopping, lol. One that I met briefly on my last trip is still there, a tall very toned latino (amazing torso), with his hair pulled back (maybe named Mauricio or something similar?). And Corey that you mentioned caught my attention, too. Any info about either of these guys?

I see that Jason is still there; I’ve had some fun dances with him, but I see more of a belly on him than I remembered.
