Boardwalk & Johnnys (6/22-24 Pride Weekend)

Random road trip this weekend to FTL. I only hit up Boardwalk and Johnnys this weekend.

 

Boardwalk was much improved over my last few visits. There are about a half dozen hot younger guys. I always like to disclose so you can take it into consideration for my reviews... I like college age guys, twinky to toned. Not into the big beefy or older guys. The past few trips there were just a lot of average looking guys and I was usually gone soon after the drink prices jumped at 9. There were some seriously hot guys this trip... a couple that come to mind... Alexey, a blond/blue Russian, probably 21/22ish. About 5'9 or 10, about 150 pounds, all solid. Great smile. There was a tall queeny Biebery-haired twink both nights... a little too queeny for me but cute. Some of the regulars were there... tiny Franky, the "furniture" of the place Jimmy and the other old bodybuilder dude, Corey a guy who kind of reminds me of Kid Rock... a little white trashy, but hot. A super tall dark haired early 20s guy from Peru, about 6-7 or 8 named Jonathan.

 

Johnny's ... no big changes. If you like the twinks, it's Heaven. Lots of cute new dancers. One that was particularly hot was "Skyler" a shaggy dark haired skater boy type... 21, about 6'1 and 130ish. Great blue eyes and smile. Lots of regulars like Marco and Tony and unfortunately the annoying Swedish guy whose name I always forget. I'll save the detractors some carpal tunnel - yep, lots of queeny guys, the smoke is thick and makes your clothes reek and the music's loud. But anyway, it was a good time both nights... they seem to have improved their roster from my last visit when it was still "peak" season.

 

Both clubs were much quieter on Saturday night compared to Friday.

 

A note to Johnnys fans... if you have an iPhone/Android, load up Grindr before you go. On Friday, mentioning Grindr at the door got you no cover and $5 drinks all night. On Saturday, free cover and free drinks from 11 to midnight.

Thanks for the report. I'm afraid my next FL visits await cooler weather. Right now I'm stuck on Montreal -- as you'll see elsewhere in this forum. I will certainly be making 3 trips in 6 months and that might grow to 4 trips in 7 months.

Don't blame ya bud... Montreal is definitely the better option of the 2 at the moment. But it's quite a bit more effort for me. FTL is a long, but do-able road trip. Montreal requires planning, vacation time, etc.

 

And nope, you don't have to show it to 'em... you just mention Grind'r. I just usually screen shot the pop up ad just in case. They did the same 2 night promotion my last visit a month or so ago.

Jimmy must be at least 45 years old, though in excellent shape. The other "bodybuilder dude" Jake must be referring to is Horacio. I believe that Horacio was the runner-up in the "Mr. Venezuela" contest of 1978. He must be at least 50 years old, and the cheap hairpiece he wears is less than becoming. That being said, I give the two "Grandpas" credit for their longevity, if not, their persistence.

Can one really have a good time at a club when the level of smoke is as thick as a London fog? Irritated eyes, a scratchy throat, an itchy nose, and a persistent cough, all due to the toxic smoke permeating a poorly ventilated club is not a recipe for a good time. Or is it? Add that to the pounding beat of music being blasted at twice the decibel level it ought to be, does not a good time make in the humble opinion of this clown.

Oh I'm not saying the dinosaurs don't spend time at the gym. I just think they're more in their element playing Bingo. And as for Mame, yep he was there... in a Cleopatra outfit. Dude probably borrowed it from Cleopatra when they were in high school together.

Fun weekend though. I even had some "off the clock" fun on Grind'r with a damn cute 19 year old at 4:30am til his mom called and made him come home. hahaha

I’ve only been to Johnny’s a few times & have always used the valet parking provided. I never actually looked to see, is there free parking available for Johnny’s? If so, where is it?
