Plus, some people just like to argue and many of us like to watch them argue. I learned real quick that ignoring the "wicked witches", here in the Land of Hoo, does work. The first time I got slammed by one, I ignored him. I responded to others in the thread but ignored him. He tried to bait me a few times, I ignored him, responded around him, and he left the thread.

That’s your opinion but obviously there are quite a few people who don’t agree. Why would you consider it a waste of intelligence to discuss difficult topics? Do you honestly think it is better spent on discussing blowjobs and the virtues of the latest twink? Those topics are fine and obviously have a big place on a board dedicated to male escorts, but they hardly require much intelligence.

 

I’m not saying the people who engage in these discussions, including myself, are necessarily intelligent, but they have an obvious desire for serious debate. Okay, some just want to preach, but for the most part, there is a pretty good exchange of opinion.

 

I like the political discussions because gay conservatives fascinate me. I honestly try to understand their point of view. That’s why, as much as I disagree with FFF, I never get tired of hearing his perspective. There are also several other right-wingers who make very good points in much less incendiary ways. I’m never going to have an epiphany and suddenly start voting Republican, but it never hurts to understand the opposition.

 

This board may seem like a strange place to have these discussions, but I have no desire to talk politics with straight conservatives. I have no desire to talk politics with straight liberals either. This board has a great mix of gay men and you can talk about anything from politics to blowjobs, and that’s kind of unique.

Well IMO this is one of the most incisive, intelligent comments I have ever read here!! Right on target, and no "pun" intended but straight to the point!

 

I enjoy discussions about sex, escorts, travel, movies and the multitude of other topics on this board. I can only assume that others who come here on a regular basis feel the same, as after all IMO, same sex relations are only part of what defines a gay person. Although I respect the opinions of all people, regardless of sexual orientation, I feel that only other gay people can truly understand the unique perspective that politics and religion play on the lives of us.

Not really -- with so many different "rooms" there's a place for anything. How many different rooms are needed to talk about escort-client issues anyway? Originally, for me, the main draw was the reviews, but then I started hanging out reading the posts and found it enlightening, interesting and a lot of fun sometimes.

The thread starts out with good intentions..than at the 3rd post some "Comet" soars by..throws in a wrench and the message in the thread tanks..some end up calling each other names after about 55 posts when we could have stopped it at the 4th post ..I envision the Comet sitting there at his keyboard laughing away while others take the bait..

 

I mentioned those two topics because they are very personal..They always start up well meaning but often end up with claws and insults then on to the "Locked Thread Cemetary".

here is the real problem, some people just can't do it. take vahawk as the perfect example of a fucking shell of a human being. in one thread he states that he will no longer reply to ANY of my posts again ... hbahahahahahahaha .. so what does he do, he posts in 3 other of my threads after that. personally he is either someone who likes chicken and should be arrested or he is a warmonger. he i a person of hate/ why else would u call yourself hawk? as i mentioned in another thread it should have been vadove, though that doesn't represent his real feelings.

Im Moore...what made you think this was directed at you...hmmm.......Anyway since you know that I am an oldie around here you know that "I get you" and what your trying to do around here..A lot of these newbies are not familiar with you and take the bait..Your motives are quite clear...you create alot of havoc around here than you'll put out a gem like the War post which I feel alot more people would respond..myself included if it weren't for the fact that a great topic would meander into name calling and end up going nowhere. Maybe that is your intention ?? If you are the Im Moore of the past than you have blessed us with many thought provoking gems.

Unfortunately that is just part of a message board and you can’t let the bastards get you down or they win. If it’s something you are interested in, just ignore the chaff and respond to the rest. Sometimes an exchange between two people goes on too long for my taste, but I figure they must be enjoying themselves and the minute I get bored I’m out of there.

Every once in a while a "Comet" of a poster soars through the Message Center. Like most Comets.. some of us will stand out in the backyard and view, while others will hopp into the debris path and follow it till it burns out or crashes in Le Cemetary de "Locked Thread" or "Banished Screen Name."

 

We have all witnessed some of these spectacular sites here in the message center. Some are quite entertaining. We have almost forgotten some of these posters where for a time they were all over the place. There is usually a pattern that developes and then the final out come always happens..They crash and burn..But they leave a mess on the way..

 

What makes me curious is that there are so many brilliant posters here and when engaged in some serious threads say some of the most amazing things along with giving awesome advice. Then one of these "Comets" breeze through the Message Center and some of you go into a momentary lapse and debate with some of these posters whose only purpose is to cause as much havoc before he or she eventually burns out. I equate it to arguing with a 12yr old....

Most of you probably wouldn't give these posters the time of day if you ran into them on the street..why here..and there are certain things that are debated ad nausem where it is a complete waist of your intelligence... these are Religion and Political Affiliations

... don't even bother..And some of these comets know that yet so many of you jump right into the debris field and follow them..

 

The smartest thing repeatedly said here by almost everyone is to simply "Ignore" these "Comets"..When you do that they never exsist. You all remember the tree falling in the woods.. does it make a sound if know one hears it??... Don't respond just view and ignore..Their flame will burn out eventually..sooner more than later..In their desperation they will shoot out many posts hoping to snag anyone...and someone always bites. For me I rarely engage in these types of conversations because I already know how the song is gonna end and since I have so little time I'll wait for some of the more consistent posters to post.

 

Now I have to step out of character and I know I will step on some toes but another example are these fucking Bruno threads..I mean get a fucking grip..even after 15 threads on a worn out topic which I think has hurt him more than helped..and you all even know that it was all for "publicity." They (he) or whoever is abusing the purpose of the message center..didn't some of you feel like crap when you found out that you had been played..Bruno is not stupid as a Marketing Exec I figured that out after halfway through the first thread..But unless he has 3 assholes and 4 dicks..What else guys?? I pride myself for not falling onto that bandwagon.

 

Maybe tommorrow another reinvented Comet will breeze through the message center under a new handle and most of you will have a momentary lapse again ........geeeze I hope not..

As one who has almost flamed out myself, let me say that IM Moore is in a category all by himself. Think about some of the spectacular flame outs that have occurred here:

One thing that all share is the ability to push your buttons. They are classic manipulators, but more importantly, their success is determined by YOU. That's right, none of these flame outs could have occurred without our help. We responded to their posts, we fanned the flames and the reason we do it is because WE LIKE IT. You can bitch and moan all you want about hijacking and all that other bullshit, but deep down, you want the comets here and you crave their commandeering of the message center. To claim anything else is to be dishonest with yourself and everyone else.
