During my last holiday i noticed that guys beween 25 and 30 dont wear loose shorts anymore in majority. Most guys wear tiny small beachwear. Also they are very selfconfident in posing their body. Nearly all these guys have bubble butts, musculair upper bodies, steel ABS and broad shoulders. My partner and i really enjoyed watching these guys and complimented them. At that point we noticed that even straight guys liked that very much and when we saw them later without their girlfriend they were curious to discover male to male contact. Let us pray that bisexuality returns as it had been in the late 80's and early 90's. Go hedonism!!!

Growing up in Italy, I have never worn shorts in my life at the beach. My concept of being at the beach is simply wearing speedos (unless I am lucky enough to be in a nude beach...), I can't understand how one can feel comfortable swimming or sunbathing with those loose knee-long shorts!

In Italy it became "fashionable" during the 90's to wear shorts (go figure...) so now I would say that there there is a 75% speedos, 25% shorts.

Last year I was working in Naples FL and as I was staying very close to the beach by the Pier I went every morning a couple of hours to sunbathe and swim.

I was the ONLY one in a speedo and I felt looked at as I was naked! :)

I live very close to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, so I often go there early morning if I can, and luckily because of the mainly Russian population I feel totally at ease surrounded by speedos-people!

I guess it depends Who and what they are ? If they are Str8, they are still wearing those awful board shorts. Str8 latino boys have upgraded to the tight mini-boxers.

I have been a beach lover my whole life, and observed the trends cum and go. While I personally have never strayed from my small, brief bikini, (mostly because I like the tan line it gives), I have noticed Trends..... At least in NYC or gay resorts like Fire Island and P-town, the gay boys have held on to their tiny-bikinis, especially if they rock a slammin bod.... Boards shorts are only for coverups for them. But the str8 guys, unless they are Bodybuilders, arent as confident to rock the tiny's, and equate them with "Homo's". Ashame, some of those str8 boys are Delicious, but at least the board shorts cover up their "chicken legs"....

When I was in my teens and twenties and even thirties, swimwear which accentuated my "attributes" was comfortable and fashionable---board shorts weren't available, if they were even made; Bermuda shorts were common wear for the street, but came off to reveal bathing suits at the beach. For the last twenty or thirty years, swimwear here in the USA has become longer and baggier and less erotic to the "eye-candy" people, like me.

I'm glad to hear there is a trend among young fit men to wear swimwear that not only allows the wearer to SWIM but also to please those of us who are observers. But there are millions of men who should stick to the more conservative look, including me. Even if I could get rid my mid-section of the extra pounds I've accumulated, I know my Speedo-days are long gone and I hope that other aging beach-goers don't give into the urge to be "fashionable" but public spectables. You can find swimwear which is appropriate for your age, look for it.

Last night I happened to catch a segment on PBS that featured the mineral baths in Budapest. Almost all of the men there wore the smalles bikinis I have seen in a long time. Many of men were old, fat out of shape and they could care less what anyone thought about them. Most of those baths are co-ed and the women, regardless of age or shape were also in very skimpy bathing suits. There were only a few young guys in great shape and most of them filled out their bikinis to the MAX ... but, in watching the video, most men and women hardly paid any attention to them. Interestingly there were very few younger girls in those baths. The other thing I noticed, was the host of the program was often in and out of the baths (which were outdoor) and he was in a much more conservative swimming suit... not quite board shorts. I have to agree with Samai, swimwear is better age appropriate and I have passed my speedo and thong days, although my swim suit is pretty short !!!

I have noticed the increase of speedos too. But I have also noticed how many more str8 couples and str8 guys are very oipen to talking for long periods of time whether I am alone or with friends. And whenever they pass us by again, they always stop to talk. Since I am always fall for str8 guys, I love it!

Speedos will never be the Popular Beachwear! Unfortunately it is 90% of the time the Guys that should not wear them who decide to adorn Gay Beaches with them on in the U.S. Usually to show a Decent Dick... BUT unfortunately also a "Pancake" Butt!

This my friends is VERY Ugly you have to stop the Fantasy you will look like any of the Undergear Models!

IF you want to see a definitely better looking Majority of Guys in Speedos try outside the U.S.

My thought on swimwear is that it should be only Big enuf to keep you decent, and small enuf to give you maxium skin exposure to the sun and water. I would never think to take a bath or shower in sweat pants. It seems most of the responses here that call for "cover up" is because you dont want to be "visually assaulted" by someone who may not be attractive to You.

SHAME on YOU !.....

After reading the responses on Speedos I did a Goggle search and was amazed at some of the things I found, including a discussion of "Old Men in Speedos." Fascinating stuff posted after a man, 50 years old, posted the question: Am I too old to wear a Speedo to swim?

The first site that came up was one that gave me pause---to admire and wish:

It was bulgingspeedos or something like that---I have to run, so don't have time to go back and find the link, sorry.

As a competitive swimmer through my early-20s, I wore a Speedo all the time at the pool, except when my lifeguard uniform was a short boxer-cut. Now a days, I prefer a short boxer-type short for poolside wear. When motivation leads me back to lap swimming for exercise, back to a Speedo.

I maintain people should just wear to the beach what they are comfortable with.

At the Four Seasons Maui, I always purchase a http://www.brookstone.com/Mens-UV-Swim-ShirtShort-Sleeve?bkeid=compare|mercent|googlebase|search&mr:trackingCode=A139F426-EE8C-DE11-9EF7-0019B9C2BEFD&mr:referralID=NA and pretend it's for UV protection.

Well you could be on to something City, if you wear a speedo underneath that shirt and it is peeking out just a tiny bit below the bottom of the shirt, so only to give the viewer a hint of what is there, it could be a little sexy and a little fashionable at the same time. That way you are not show all the goods at once, but just teasing the viewer with look of what's to come....

I'm definitely noticing shorts getting shorter. Remember in the 70s and early 80s those Ocean Pacific corduroy "OP" shorts were so popular. Those were really short by more recent standards. Then through the 80s and 90s shorts just kept getting longer and longer until they hit the knee. But now I'm seeing more guys in the gym and out on the street wearing shorts that are as short as the OPs, or at the gym as short as Richard Simmons's shorts. So I'm thinking in 5 years or so the predominant look could be short square-cut shorts instead of board shorts. Hey, it could happen!

I'm not sure American straight guys will ever feel confident enough to wear speedos at the beach... it's hard enough to get them to wear them in the pool to swim laps unless they're a competitive swimmer. But in a few years I could see more str8 guys wearing shorter square-cut trunks rather than board shorts.

Never mind that I'm wearing board shorts in my avatar pic.... ahem

Well, I'm obviously going to the wrong beaches and pools. I was at a beach near Destin, FL last weekend and all of the young and old guys alike were wearing long-shorts down to their knees. Some of the men were very sexy, but I would have preferred seeing more short/tight swimsuits or speedos for sure!

The thing I really have against long board shorts is they make for the ugliest and unsexiest Tan lines. Makes a guy looks like he was cut in the middle....

It must be a cultural thing. I never wore shorts at the beach or the swimming pool. I always wear speedos.

I remember some swimming pools in Europe that have banned shorts for hygiene purposes. You had to wear speedos.

On a separate note it took me a while to understand the fascination some people have about tan lines. :-)

here its shorts I've never seen anyone at the pool in speedos

Americans are Prudes when it comes to male genitalia. The problem they have with speedo type swimwear is the visible crotch bulge. Funny double standard since we are subjected to female breasts spilling out all over the place, and ugly camel-toe, in those little bikinis THEY wear. . Its considered HOT for women to show off their Endowments, but not for men.

It could be the plain fact that Baby is Fed Mother's Milk from her Breasts and that Daddys Dick comes nowhere into play!

Breasts can SELL products which they do in ALL Country's! What can Dicks do SELL Porno and that's about it! They just ain't Pretty although I do find CUT Attractive!

Exactly. I say this all the time! Even in formal situations, women have bare backs, shoulders, most of the breast, while men must be covered up in multiple layers. Blech!

Where is this? Doesn't sound like a typical American beach/pool. Sounds more like someones porn fantasies though:)
