The 3 major advertising sites and which is better as a client or a provider?

rb, m4rn and rm are the unholy (lol) trinity of sites. second tier is adam, cl and backpage. I consider the first 3 the big leagues and the last three the minor leagues. But, remember, 3 years ago alot of MLB stars were playing in the minors so there are deals to be had there! My question is this though: In my opinion as a long time paid adverttiser with all three and a fan of all three for different reasons I think RENTMEN is by far and way a superior site in so many ways! However, why does it produce just a very small percentage of clients? I see their ads everywhere. Was just in ft. lauderdale and they had a whole page ad in hotspots mag. Even when I tour my percentages are 40 percent m4rn, 35% rb, 20% Daddys forum or daddys reviews and 5% rentmen. In most endeavors involving competion, free market dynamics etc, the superior product will eventually win out. To be honest with yall when my ad expired on rm I had decided to just not renew with them. it had been WEEKS without a booking but then they said the ad was free if I posted videos with them so I did. Now I am hearing from dozens of guys who love the videos and who say they are more likely to hire me or fly me in BUT still no bookings from the site whereas m4rn and rb it seems almost everyone who contacts me from those sites books. This to me is a major mystery. Is it possible that the market was already flooded by the two biggies and rm will just never make it? Seems to me there was room for a Wendys along side bk and MickeyDs ? My opinion is certainly not my own. Others share my feelings. I like rentmen's site....easy to navigate, simple, pages open quickly, just not alot of providers and I don't check it often because of that. m4rn is great for the smaller markets, and I have found some sweet deals in second tier cities from that site, but they keep inactive ads online far too long, although I have noticed recently old ads are finally disappearing. Rentboy obviously is the "go-to" site for the major cities, but I hate the website format. It is clunky, cluttered, overwhelmed with ads, unreliable, etc. Numerous times when I have been looking for an immediate hire, I launch rentboy and it won't load, so someone on another site got the "load" instead.

Rentboy seems to have more information about what the escorts like to/are willing to do. Whether it's accurate is a different matter - sometimes it looks like the escort just checked all the possible boxes (I assume that's how it works - the categories seem to have standard values).

 

Rentmen doesn't work on all browsers. They went too fancy in their design - they should test whether their site works with JavaScript and cookies turned off, in the top browsers (Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, Firefox, iPhone, Android).

 

Men4RentNow seems to have the least information about escorts. What do "Platinum" and "Featured" mean on that site? Is it some kind of assurance that the escort has been checked out in some way, or only that the escort gave them more money?

Agreed! Of the major sites alluded to in this thread, I prefer http://www.rentmen.com to the other ones. It's what others have said: easy to navigate, etc. You can email the escorts from this site as opposed to being

unable to at some of the others. I even wrote the webmaster an e regarding an escort who is now deceased. I received an immediate response. Yes, I, too, wish more escorts who advertise at this site.

M4RN payment plans (along with RB) are ridiculous on many levels. On M4RN, if you pay for the top two ads (which recently increased in price) then they "guarantee" you top placement on the first couple of pages.....or you could buy the cheapest ad and log-in more often, which will put you at the top of the listings. It's really weird and all the sites work differently. If you use M4RN and don't log-in for a few hours, especially in a large city (NY, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, etc) then you'll quickly be moved to the back of the other guys because they've logged in more recently.

 

RB charges an increase in price to advertise based on the city, which is outrageous.

 

I love the RentMen site, however it has never produced anything for me.....ever. Even HourBoy gives me more hits & bookings than rentmen!

I find rentmen difficult to navigate, especially on my phone. The layout for viewing pictures is also awkward.

 

Rentboy is the easiest of the three sites to navigate on my phone, and I don't really like m4rn's new mobile version. Like another client mentioned, I also don't look at rm much because there are relatively few escorts on the site. And several of the ads that are on there seem to be out of date.

As I said on a different thread, I initially used M4RN because it was the first one that popped up on Google. The guy I found was/is great, and he recommended Daddy's to me (which I'd like to use exclusively because I trust the reviews more). I asked this same guy about the three sites, and he agreed that M4RN was better for less populated areas while RB seemed to work best in urban areas. He said that he's advertised on all three sites and NEVER gotten a client from RM. Maybe they should just pay Google more.

The problem with 1 dry month is, if you're on the road and spending upwards of $400 a week on hotels (at discounted rates of course) and another $200-300 on traveling expenses...a dry month could cause widespread forest fires.

 

Even HourBoy gives me more hits & bookings than rentmen!

I've never understood this criticism. There are currently about 450 rentboys listed in Manhattan, too many to expect most clients to scroll through. Many smaller locales have just a few guys. It stands to reason that escorts in those smaller cities ought not pay the NYC rate to advertize; there's no need to weed them out. Frankly, $60 for a basic ad in NYC is a bargain, given the likely return. The analogy to congestion pricing somewhat applies.

Rentmen works well in Atlanta for some reason Decatur Guy. Platinum on m4rn means simply you pay more to advertise. it in no way means a platinum guy is hotter or has been somehow vetted. I personally love the ability rentmen provides to produce and upload videos. For those of us escorts who are not porn stars this provides a way for a potential client to see us in action either alone or with a friend. JackF tells it like it is though and many escorts have told me this. no bookings at all ever from rm. now, hour boy is a FREE site to escorts so while I do use it I do not put alot of stock or faith in it. There is a reason it is free (almost no one knows about it!) Same is true for maleescortreview. I posted a profile and pics.....nothing...nada! The big two are the big two for a reason. I have found RENTMEN is a more accessible site - and like that escorts can check out "who" is checking them out, and even send a note to help start the conversation.

 

They recetly put up a new feature called "actively seeking now" and I have yet o see how it works, but will soon try.

 

I interchange with RENTBOY and RENTMEN, and feel more secure in choosing a new guy if he has ads on BOTH, as odd as that may seem. My criticism of RENTBOY is when you go to check reviews, it is a very complicated structure (having to re-load a log in name etc...) and the device for searching reviews is awful. I still find DADDY's the easier for checking out reviews.

 

As for M4RN -- for cities outside mainstream areas I reply on them when traveling, and like that they have those small "instant" reviews, and moving generally from those to the more detailed reviews is not that difficult. Just wish they did have more reviews... I also HATE that you cannot fine-tune searches and eliminate having to scroll through everyone. The only screening is removing travelers to a city; I prefer RENTBOY and RENTMEN as they can give you choices (top, bottom, versatile, ethnicity etc...) and you can cut down on the nmber of people you are scrolling through.

 

One last gripe -- as one who dislikes TATS and PIERCING, I wish they had a filter such as on GayRomeo that tells you up front Tats (and how many) and piercing... It would save me surprises when I hire, and the shirt comes off, and I see this ugly thing plastered over the back or front or legs or wherever. My ardor quickly diminishes.

With your wishlist for searches, let me add mine.

 

1) I want to screen out every ad that does not list an hourly rate, period. I have 0 interest in any escort that won't post their hourly rate. Unfortunately, searching minnimum or maximum or any other setting, I can't get those useless ask, nego, varies etc wastes of my time ads out of there.

 

2) Please also ad a verified photos option. Allow me to only see escorts that have had their photos verified by the webmaster. They do have ways to accomplish this, like requiring advertisers to submit an identical picture to one they are posting holding today's newspaper.

 

3) If they could also add a check box for I don't kiss, I don't top, I don't bottom, I don't whatever (or alternatively I do boxes) so we could easily eliminate escorts from searches based on things we may find important. Allow this option to be searchable. This is different then searching by someone who identifies themselves as top or bottom or versatile.

 

 

Now to the original question. I find rentboy the most useful of the major 3 websites. I like rentmen, but they have way to few listings to make it useful for me. I don't like men4rentnow because they have way too many inactive ads, but I will use it if and only if the escort posts a phone number. I find that all inactive ads and unfortunately some active ones do not show phone numbers, but its the best screening tool on that website I can find for activity.

For the longest time I was not able to register on RentMen, so I gave up on it until I saw a posting from them here so I figured that I would try it again. YAY it worked! And I love it by the way. I find it much more modern than the other two. It is more of what I would call an "Escort Community" than just strictly an advertising site. While I am currently on the free one month trial, I do find their pricing structure to be simple and clear. I do wish that it were just one pricing tier though, I would be willing to pay a little more to put all the advertisers on equal footing. And I think it would be more useful to clients to have all advertisers listed alphabetically but with those most recently logged in at the top. I do see some merit to tiered advertising plans though, which I will get into below when I talk about M4RN.

If you have not renewed your ad they do keep it up and remove phone numbers, I am not sure if they still allow you to email. I think it is stupid either way, maybe they just haven't woken up yet to renew their ad. It is confusing to clients and it also makes the escort look bad. Most of my business does come from them but their prices for placing an ad are ridiculous. The wanted list just pollutes my in box. I have noticed that most of the time it is people who don't want to pay the escorts their going rates.

There are three tiers to the ads. Platinum and Featured are the same thing, we pay the most to be listed there. Platinum ads are listed at the top of the list and your ad is rotated through the featured section. Gold and silver ads are respectively listed below platinum ads. It works similarly over on RentBoy with small differences. I will say that there is one benefit to the client in the tiered system, the escorts who are paying for the higher tiers are likely to take this job seriously and it is more likely their profession than something they are doing to make quick cash. If you're wondering about pricing I would gladly post a list if you like. Oh, and escorts, I am totally not knocking you for not having platinum ads. They are way over-priced and often unnecessary I like that they rotate through my pictures!

 

One thing I really like about RentBoy is the more detailed statistics. If I am going to be advertising anywhere I think I deserve to know how many impressions my ad is getting, how many times people actually look at my ad and how many times people have responded to it through the web site. I don't want to have to have each new client fill out a questionnaire "Where did you hear about us?"

 

I don't know if any one takes advantage of this but they also offer gold and platinum advertisers free RentBoy business cards, very classy.
