Well from what I have heard and seen of his pics over the years Mark had (and probably still has) "beauty and brains" as well... so I guess that's the connection!

Plus, he was a fantasy for me that never materialized... so Gman... don't feel so bad that you never were able to make that connection...

He still has BOTH and I'm sure most of his Virginity as well! ;) Mark wasn't the type though to change the Scenario! He delivered whatever was agreed upon!

The Advocate.com reports now that Mr. Hamm used to work in porn.... but not as an actor. He helped out on the set for soft-core porn films, according to the interview, and found the work to be depressing... so it must have been "straight" porn.

well, gee, I guess I'm not as sophisticated and cool as I thought.....as promised in an earlier post, I tried Season 1, Disc 1 of "Mad Men" last night and it didn't bite me....great acting, scripts, the whole bit, but it never seemed utterly compelling and none of the characters was entirely likeable....even Hamm's character, who I do understand is supposed to be complex and not perfect, turned me off with his womanizing....but I'm not a critic, so I may give it another try after a cool-down period....

meanwhile, encouraged by others here, I now have "Weeds" in the queue.....and may move onto "Deadwood" after that....then back to PBS's good ol' "American Experience" after that...

thanks for the suggestions

Consider also 'The Big C' and "Justified".

I've been trying to figure out why this series has grabbed me as much as it has. Part of it is nostalgia - a view back at life during my grade school years and some level of shock at what life was like - and how much it's changed.

The nostalgia piece is not only about the charters but the technology. Push button phones were not an option. Secretaries - i.e., "your girl" - all had typewriters. It's amazing to me how life has changed in less than 50 years.

Many people, even fans of the show, didn't like this episode. Many of the characters (Peggy, Roger) have become one-note, while others (Harry) turned from devoted husbands to philanderers with no backstory. However, this show has a history of poor season openers as compared to the rest of the season, so you might consider coming back to it.

FF is right on this - give it a bit of time. I felt the same way about the Sopranos as well as Nip/Tuck - there are no "good-guy" characters - and in that way it mirrors real life in many instances. It takes a few episodes before you kinda get with the program. Deadwood is terrific but very very coarse.

I'll give "Mad Men" another chance, definitely, as I only watched the first three episodes....it IS a well-produced show.....and I do know "Deadwood" is strong and that the language is over-the-top, but that doesn't bother me.....I like Westerns....thanks

Count me among those who just don't find him attractive. The soft body, the jackass double personality, the abusive way he treats people. Does nothing for me. Give me Roger Sterling!

I find Sterling really attractive too.

Or better yet, that super hot Cary Grant look-a-like that is married to Joan!

Dr. Rapist? Really? He doesn't look anything like Cary Grant to me either.

But check out that "modern" priest from Season 2 who had the hots for Peggy.

I think the MAD MEN characters are very compelling and never have to find someone "likeable" to enjoy a show. I love JUSTIFIED, THE BIG C, THE WALKING DEAD, GAME OF THRONES, FRINGE, SPOOKS, THE KILLING, DEXTER and DOWNTON ABBEY. I think that's about it.

I hate Colin Hanks. He ruined the last season of DEXTER.

I'm sorry but Dr. Rapist? Where the hell do you get that from? And with that jaw line and hair he could easily pass for Cary Grant's son.

It took me two times watching the first episode to get into Mad Men. I was ready to let it go after that first time but kept hearing people raving about it so gave it another try. Now I'm hooked!

I find John Hamm very hunky for sure. He also did a few episodes of "30 Rock" where he played an impossibly-handsome man dating Liz Lemon (Tina Faye). The running joke was that he was so good-looking, he didn't understand what life was like for average-looking people like Liz since people had always tripped over themselves to accommodate him. It was pretty comical.

I also love "Deadwood" and am sadly just about to finish the last season. Definitely the strongest language I've ever heard on a TV series, but really a good series. Similar genre, "Hell on Wheels" I also enjoyed last season.

Sorry, nycman, but your buddy Greg (Joan's husband) is gone. In this last episode, Joan dumped him for volunteering for an additional year in Vietnam and making it seem like it was an order. So she dumped him. But I'm sure we'll see more of him during the divorce proceedings.

as promised above, I watched the first six episodes of "Weeds" last night, from back in 2005.....cool show and a pleasure to watch after a long day (don't have to think too much)....I guess that sentiment matches since I said I wasn't as cool and sophisticated in an earlier post and, thus, didn't find "Mad Men" compelling.....(but I do promise to give "Mad Men" another try)....I don't have Showtime, so I know I'm way behind with all these shows....googled "Weeds" and found out it's still in production (yup, out of the loop) and much has happened since those early days of the show....that Hunter Parrish guy seems cool and not bad-looking - he sings, too....

Last Sunday episode was hot - seeing Jon Hamm naked, with a dark spot covering his cock.

During the show I wondered about Greg - Joan's husband. I was getting a gay vibe from him. Then, when Joan dumps him, she makes a comment about "the guys in Vietnam make him feel like a man" . . . "something I've not been able to do". I wondered if there's a gay storyline coming about Greg . . .

The shirtless scenes with Greg were hot. The main downside - for me - is checking out other pictures on the Internet and finding out he did a complete chest shave job for the show. argh!

I'd be up for a gay military storyline, and with the DADT repeal, the timing would be good. However, his remark about the army making him feel like a man could refer to his shame at not being able to land a job as a civilian surgeon--and having to be financially supported by Joan back when he was a resident.

That video is cute, but the kissing looks fake.
