Well as someone "chased away" for almost a year by a thin-skinned perspective on what goes on here, I'm happy to be back and agree with much of what is being said here. Unfortunately, I don't think all posts can be "happy" ones, nor do I feel that there isn't a place for honest criticism of the ideas often expressed here.

I guess what amazes me most is that there are posters here who regularly spout racists and/or homophobic views with no repercussions whatsoever. I find this intolerable and despicable. I realize everyone doesn't have to respond to every bit of vitriol spewed, but when I see rant after rant going unchallenged it hurts my soul. And, perhaps even worse, when I see the offending posters then express a view that may be commonly held, the silent posters feel justified in commenting on the non-offensive post. I hate that. I hate racism and narrow thought as much as I hate anything. I think it is the cause of all evil in this world. I can't be quiet when I see it go unchallenged and I can't respect the posters who accept it from others without comment. To me that is silent assent.

P.S. - I also dislike the cheerleading mentality, wherein praise is heaped in every post made by the cheerleader. It ain't real!!

>...I guess I owe you the session fee that I pay my shrink.

Maybe you should be the one collecting the fee. When someone

dumps on you rather than just disagreeing with your opinion,

you've provided a means to raise their own self-esteem.

They're like a pig in mud, wallowing in smugness. To help

someone feel better about himself is a good thing, isn't it?

BB,

I agreee with your feeling of experiencing a "soul ache" whever racism appears on the board. It is the way that evil makes it way into the world. I guess my previously unposted disgust for it IS in a way an assent to it's existence. In another thread (referencing outdated camp humor) a poster said that his reponse when seeing it in a post was to "groan and move on. It is ironic, THAT reply was what helped give birth to this thread. Before, whenever I saw racist rants. I would groan and move on. Now, having read your reply here, I realize I can no longer do that. I will have to change from "consider the source" , to some kind of "respond in force". The question is how to do that. I have seen that verbal replies often spark continued rants and so I am inclined to investigate a concept posted in one of Rick Munroe's replies to this thread where he searched the archives and posted the thread from last summer. It contained an idea of Derek's which suggested some kind of non-verbal response. I don't think any of the smilies indicate the disdain I would want to project, but after your post I will have to give it some thought. To me, racist comments and attacks rank right alongside the predator actions of child molesters and I will have to find some way to indicate my abhorance in a visual manner.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

I’m not sure why you Pollyanna types keep going on and on about “the bad old board” that was so full of mean, horrible people. In case you haven’t noticed…you’ve won! Most of the interesting people with strong opinions and edgy writing styles have been bored out of existence. That should leave plenty of room for retirement age guys who want to carry on like giggling schoolgirls.

There is a veritable feast of pabulum going on here that should satiate anyone’s need for cyber hugs and pats-on-the-back. Just how dainty and sanitary do you need this place to be before you will be happy?

HI JACK: I hope from reading the above messages you have gotten the boost you needed to "write-on" with your feeling, humor, experiences, and opinions. I look forward to reading more from you. I also see you have a lot of support on this topic... IMO, this is a board to discuss our experiences with escorts (and their's with us) and to share our common interests/concerns. I enjoy writing about my experiences at the Gaiety and have learned a lot from members who do the same. When we keep to our original "mission", this board can be a lot of fun... I posted this before, but again it's timely. 'I don't enjoy reading posts that kick people when they are down or attack religious beliefs.' I once read a message where a "member" boasted about being proud to be called "anti-Catholic" and went on to bash the Pope, the head of the Catholic Church. Does something like this belong on a message board to discuss escorts?!?!?! I think not, unless you have no escort experiences to share or positive contributions to make. Yes, freedom of speech is a wonderful right we Americans have, but it can also show how prejudiced and stupid we can be. Cooper

Well perhaps you should contact HooBoy and tell him to change the rules. If memory serves me correctly, he says you can discuss bring up ANY topic in the lounge. Now if this were a site owned by Cooper, that would be different. But in case you forgot - it ain't!

And from reading your last sentence I get the feeling that you think that if anyone is prejudiced and stupid on this board, it certainly isn't Cooper. Others may beg to differ.

Right on Phague! You hit the nail on the head. I agree that it's understandable why the board is so full of Pollyanna types. It is my estimation after reading all the various posts for a couple of years now that the average age of the membership is well over 50, that most have serious self esteem issues and their average weight would be enough to cause Otis elevators to drastically downgrade their estimates re "number of passengers allowed on this elevator".

And the reason so many have stated they enjoy camp humour is because it was all the rage in their youth. They probably wish they could vote for Eisenhower again. Some people just can't move with the times!

Hey f-m...LOL, happy you can relate to my reply, but did you comprehend the entire thread? I have a strange feeling that the point being discussed here went completely over your head. Perhpas this is your attempt at "camp humor"... Q. f-m, do you realize that your hurtful and uncalled for remarks about Jack prompted this thread? duh! Cooper :(

Viking (and any others who are hesitant to post), don't be afraid to express yourself here openly & frequently. Even if what you get in return is negative, it's still anonymous, so it can't be taken or meant personally since nobody really knows who anyone is anyway, except for those of us who use our real names, or at least the names by which we're known, and even then we shouldn't take offense to criticism because (OK, I'll just stop there because this convoluted sentence is starting to confuse even me). :+

SF viking,

If there's is anything to take away from my original post on this thread, it's that all are welcome to play. I have a thin skin too, but I just keep getting up off the floor and trying again. Pretty soon, the bruises turn to muscle and then , as you get to know some of these guys, they are great! Try exchanging e-mails with some. BTW, I love your handle. Viking always conjures (sp?) up a very sexy image for me. And SF I assume means San francisco, (which isn't all that far from me) so I'm thinking hot blond guy in SF.

Come play and swim, the sharks are toothless and trained.

HI JACK, Just remember when dealing with "f-man":-( He believes that when the going gets tough, he gets working on a new user name. Since I've been aboard he has used 5. Go figure?!?! He lives by one rule, if you can't take the heat, get a new user name! Cooper

Yes, I'm the person who made the comment about the pope. It perhaps was not my smoothest move. However, even the most Pollyannaish amongst us know the covering up in abundance that has been taking place for the child molesters who pose as religious leaders. My pope comment of course followed post after post after post where antisemetic bullshit was spewed and only one or two people even commented on it. The head cheerleader continued to tell his cutsey jokes as if nothing else was happening. What I have come to realize, jack, is that to get in a verbal shouting match with the idiots who make these horrific comments is useless, but I must and will continue to make my feelings on the subject known, and then let the ranter continue on. I also do my best to avoid the offenders posts, but of course this is not always possible. However, I'd rather err on the side of making my feelings known than to pretend that a Gaiety dancer's cock is the most important thing in the world. I don't think even the pope would agree.

To be very honest with you - No - I don't love you. You're not even close.

But on the other hand - I don't hate you either. I just wish you would act your age. But then, if you're comfortable with turning every remark into a double entendre and you feel it passes for humour, go for it!

Hey Snookums - don't you call ME a fucking liar. And I have no intention of wasting my time to prove anything to you, you old snot!

The ball is in your court to prove yourself right. Being as delusional as you are it should be amusing to hear you try.

Quite frankly I don't think you know your ass from a hole in the ground!

But not to worry - I can't imagine anyone wanting to fuck either!

Well one form of evidence is that you basically admitted you were Thunderbuns with that preposterous story about how TB was your bf and you were trying to become an escort. Second, this approach you are taking here is exactly the approach TB took when he was caught lying. Maybe you need to take another trip!
