In the interest of "full disclosure", I will state for the record that Dave is known to me and I am partial to him. I was disappointed that he was not chosen, his record as an escort is flawless, he is a good and honest man and he is very skilled at his chosen profession. I think we can all agree on that. But, I think the extra things he does like hosting webinars for the education of fellow escorts and clients intended to help everyone get the most from this "hobby", teaching at sex workshops etc. went unnoticed. He "gives back" on a consistent basis and his efforts are always aimed at improving the "state of the industry." If I had to guess, I'd think Dave doesn't care whether or not he was selected, but I was hoping he would be as an acknowledgment of the effort he puts in. So, in the absence of an EOY title, I'd like to publicly thank Dave.

I also congratulate the winner, Ace. Can't wait to meet you at the DC Luncheon.. and to all the winners a big "way to go!"

To Daddy, Thank you for all you do for us. You deserve the respect of all who participate here, and you're a pretty good judge!

Seeker -- I'm going to have to agree with Major Tom. The way I read it, stating that their votes are often flawed, leads me to believe that they were not counted. As MT points out, why call it out otherwise? I got the impression of "we embrace you, join our group and we'll count them next year". At least that's the way I read it.

Of course, if they were included, it means that the other "non-forum votes" had to weigh even more heavily in the process because Dave received 3 first time votes (one was from someone who had joined months ago and never posted, so is that a newbie?). That means the forum votes counted even less in the process before.

And the question I asked immediately upon opening of the "Floats Your Boat" thread was never answered. Are EOY alumni eligble to win? There has never been anything explicitly stated they can't. If they can, and if newbie votes are counted, actually Romann would have been one point ahead of Dave.

In looking back, I think the cartoon I posted immediately upon Daddy's closing of the voting certainly would have helped in this situation:

Maybe a little more explicitness and a little less "then a miracle occurs" would have gone a long way.

Probably. And I'll admit that I'd be happier if there was more transparency in the process as well. :(

Countryboywny,

At this point, let's make a very deep decision. Where the hell are we meeting in DC for a few drinks and then solving all the issues of the world.

The voting process is not transparent. The winner is the winner because Daddy says he is the winner. Miss Colorado wins the Miss American contest and I don't think she is all that cute but someone did. Ever see those Ms. Universe contest shows and they show how all the judges vote? Some uudge's scores have a range of 9.2-10 and others a range of 2 -10. How is that handled? The Donald knows and he isn't explaining it to anyone.

Florida votes for Bush, well kind of, and Gore loses. Why is that? 5 members of the Supreme court know and the rest of the world does not. There was less outrage over that then the escort selection. One thing is certain, most of us do not have all the facts and I think we should either assume that this is all on the up and up if that is your nature, or you can yell and scream and stamp around and say it is not fair, if that is your nature, but I don't think any of these results are changing.

So tell me why Santorum gets 12 Iowas delgates Romney gets 13 and Paul who got 4 thousand votes less than these two, gets none. As it turns out once the delegates are elected they can vote for anyone they damned well please.

And the NBA lottery, how did the Knicks get Patrick Ewing? Not to mention to Bowl Selection, why are we seeing Alabama LSU again and 11-1 Boise State is playing against a 6-6 team? And can anyone explain the judges voting on X Factor? Pussycat Nicole votes to have a tie and then the audience breaks the tie which does not go the way Nicole wants so she has a major emotional breakdown when she had the power to avoid it by voting her conscience.

Quick vote now: Which of these was your favorite non-seuqitor? Results of the vote will be posted after I decide which is my favorite.

People's Choice Award

Countryboywny,

While I can't be there, I have heard that the People's Choice first place escort has offered a tour of his fabulously equipped play room in DuPont Circle after the forum lunch. Sounds like the perfect place for the forum members to meet and recognize Dave for all that he has given us! After all it's not what Daddy thinks that matters, it's what WE the clients think that really matters!

In the last 48 hours, I have had more than one escort, including people who have won, tell me how much they really dislike the EOY itself. They consider it divisive, pitting escort against escort, client against client, and in some cases client against escort (why didn't you vote for me). Perhaps it is time to consider the possibility of doing away with the EOY altogether.

The first time I won the Escort of the Year award (by forum vote), I asked HooBoy not to make a big deal of it, and I also asked him to remove the trophy icon that he put on my review page. Not that I didn't think it was very flattering, but I worried that the award would make the winner seem unobtainable or overexposed or "used goods." I don't think Daddy should do away with it, though. Actually, I don't have an opinion one way or the other. I think you guys are making a big deal out of nothing. :)

The strong reaction by many is understandable to some extent if we consider that their bubble burst as they came to the realization of how things around here really work. We've all heard and many have used the phrase Daddy's "Sandbox", "Party" or "Playground" but sometimes it may take an experience like this to really appreciate what that means. I don't expect things to change and I'm fine with that. It's Daddy's party, I'm a guest and always have the option of staying or leaving (unless of course I am told to leave).

Very rightly put. I have never put a lot of stock in the EOY award, jst as I find - a others have already written - the hype around the HOOKIES a farce (and all similar such beauty pagents). And in a way, who takes seriously the voting on these pagents on TV and does not think there is a fix in the works??

I honestly feel we all should take a step back now, admit the awards are done for 2012, learn a lesson, and begin to clean up all the confetti, balloons and streamers from the sand box and get on with or usual conversations.

I've been away for a while and I missed the EOY official ceremony. I hope it isn't too late to congratulate the winners Ace, Andrew Justice, Dane and the newcomer Tristan Baldwin. You guys rock.

There are likely many other outstanding escorts out there that didn't even get a vote for whatever reason, so let's not put more weight on the results than it really deserves. Don't take it all so seriously and keep things in perspective.

I concur with this poster. I understand that while running such award is hard to keep everyone happy. There are many outstanding escorts out there who didn't get a mention. In this spirit I'd like to give away my 2007 EOY award to those folks who never made it to the list.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

It's just a contest

Good god, I actually agree with Rick Munroe. I'm not sure I can remember this happening. If you don't want the vote to be divisive then don't vote..easy as that. I voted by making a very neutral vote.

If you don't like the rules then tough..it's not your board. I don't like a lot of comments that are made on various other boards either but it's not my board. Besides controversy oftentimes means a board is much more popular.

Let's try to keep things in perspective. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You want to load the ballot box with votes AND pick the winner AND get peeved if the person you worship doesn't win?

It's just a contest. It's not life or death. well I don't think it is.

If you are accusing me of stuffing the ballot box, I must say I am more than a little upset by that aspersion.

I was ready to let this thread go, but I cannot and will not let that accusation go unchallenged.

Sorry Lee..my apologies..it was a collective you. It wasn't meant to be a singular you. I didn't mean to insinuate that you were stuffing the box.

And yet, you did. As the person who started this thread, the logical assumption is that the accusation was aimed at me, which I deny completely. I hope to think that I am known by my friends and escorts here as, above all else, an honest man, and any inference to the otherwise damages me.

But your apology is accepted.

I am still pissing my pants laughing about the Honey Badger comments. Steven and Rick, you show tremendous class in your comments and posts as well. Hence the reason you guys are perenially big names. Wish I was around for the DC Forum! I'd have gotten a chance to meet some of ya!

Tristan - I just saw your New Year's resolutions page on another site -- it made you even more interesting and (gotta say) desirable!!! Have to find a reason to get back up to Boston in this new year (if your resolution to stay closer to home this year is still valid).

you're just on an online message board. Repeat that to yourself, over and over again.

unplug for awhile and go enjoy the real world. your level of concern for this issue speaks volumes.

I was trying to respond along the same lines, but I can not possibly top your post. It says it all about the dangers of taking an online message board too seriously.

Just a few final words before I put this part of 2011 where it belongs--in 2011. It truly upsets me when any post adversely affects members of the Forum. We have begun to argue about verbage between fellow clients and talk about who shoulda instead of who DID. Am I totally happy about the turnout--No, but am extremely happy for those who were chosen There was never meant to be any losers in this endeavor and there aren't! Just look at all the names of ultimate professionals that we submitted--In our eyes they are the epitome of many guys out there.

Let's publicly and personally thank all of them for being OUR PERSONAL GUYS OF THE YEAR!!!

Have a wonderful and successful 2012 everyone
