If you care about a person you submit a review on, then go an extra step and send me the pic. When I have to spend an hour or so looking up the pics that are sent when all I am given is rentboy.com or americanmale.com, etc, it takes up time from other people who appreciate that this site is free and they try to help me by sending a pic or even ....a donation.

 

I spend about 3 hours a day answering email that asks "why have you not posted my review." Well, because of things that I really do not think is anyone's business, I am running behind and every time I have to answer one of those letters, I get further behind.

 

So I fell asleep last night because I am friggin exhausted. But that is not your concern and am not going to go on here and whine about it...This month, I had two donations...and I read this post and I just have to whine. Wah, Wah, Wah.

 

I love what I do and I want you to be happy. I have learned in the 4 years I have been doing this that I will not achieve the goal of making everyone happy and I can live with that. But when after 4 years, suddenly I am late every fucking day and all I get is shit from it like this post and some email that was not too kind I just want to drop Michael Jackson off a balcony.

 

I'll try to lighten up and I am working on getting back on schedule. Meantime, enjoy the free ride.

Hooboy, I am sorry if you are in a bad mood or having trouble that we are unaware of. Under normal circumstances a producer of product wants to know when he slips up. Instead, you go on the attack, personalize the issue, and ignore the opportunity to accept constructive criticism.

Well, as they say, it's your website. But when you talk about a free ride, you are the one getting the reviews for free; the message center, which greatly improves the "hits" to your site, is the product of free contributions from its members. I enjoy participating here and contributing reviews. But I like a quality product as much as the next guy and did not anticipate a venomous response from you to a well-meaning post.

As someone who uses the site regularly, but doesn't post that often, I find myself asking frequently, "Why is this site free?". I think hooboy, whomever he may be, has a product worth charging for.

 

I was surprised that it took so long for someone to jump on the fact that today's reviews were late. The message center seems to be dominated by two groups, one that can't wait for a spelling mistake, a missed review, a "conspiracy"; and a group that sees this site for what it is - a place to exchange information on escorts.

 

The message center is generally good, but I have noticed some of the posters I enjoyed reading have left - trilingual, Matt in vancouver, traveller, etc. - and I wonder if they just can't be bothered anymore. There are still a lot of people who post who are either intesting or witty or informative, but one must wade through a lot of chaff to get to the wheat.

 

I have also noticed (have others?) that the quantity of posts has declined.

 

So, what do the others think? I would particularly be interested in the thoughts of other people who don't post that much, as myself.

Don't know if I qualify as an occasional poster, I have posted some in the four months or so that I have been registered although I used the site before I actually signed up. I started by looking at the masseur threads because it took a while to get up the nerve to hire an escort. I remember reading posts by someone called thunderbuns that gave alot of info on L.A. masseurs. Often the threads in that folder were funny, even off the wall. But seldom as angry and venemous as some of the threads in other folders have become lately. I have been stunned to read what some people have written in response to a post. This is my first experience with any kind of message board, and being that it deals primarily with the topics focusing on escorts, I am unable to understand how any contributor could get so worked up as to call someone else a "sad pathetic" person simply because they fantasize about and fixate on any escort. All of us navigate in the same waters. Some boats are more luxurious than others but it doesn't make anyone better or worse as a person. It is painful to look at a thread on an interesting question or topic and watch it hijacked and deteriorate into name calling. I guess for me, there are certain people's opinions that I am no longer interested in as there well may be some who don't care to read anything I may post. But I love the board overall and am grateful to HooBoy (no matter how much free sex he may or may not be getting) and I sure hope he continues to do the herculean task of keeping it up. Wish I could make an offering to help with expenses, but have been on an escort spending spree lately and like a kid in a candy store, still have an appetite but have run out of allowance.

A really good, totally on target post on your part, but then again all your posts are very kind and considerate of others. You must be a really nice and truly good person. I have found that most message boards (especially the free ones) have more than their fair share of posters whose only purpose is to truly irritate others in order to satisfy their own personal needs. On the other hand, if you don't take them too seriously, they do keep things riled up and spicy so I guess they serve a purpose. They are only truly obnoxious when they take themselves way too seriously and degenerate into contributing only ridiculous, name-calling, vicious, bitchy, back-biting posts. We all have our "bitchy" days, but as long as it is not a permanent condition, that should be okay.

Criticism, even the constructive type can be difficult to deliver without offending. I hope I won't offend you, as I find you usually even tempered in your posts, with few exceptions.

It seems to me that, while the intent if your criticism is intended to be constructive the tenor of your criticism certainly didn't reflect that sentiment -- marked, as it seems, by sarcasm and personal remarks. I see why HB wouldn't have taken it as criticism of the 'constructive' type. I think your post probably was only the tip of the iceberg also, as I suspect that he has delt with tens of similar emails that we never see. BTW, I'm not singling you out on this as I have also offered ill-considered criticism myself. :+

 

During my tenure here I have seen HooBoy develop a sterling track record for consistently posting reviews day-in and day-out, except in occasional circumstances when technical, travel, or personal difficulties interfere with his efforts. So when the reviews are late I 'know' that something beyond his control or having overriding precedence most likely has occurred.

 

I suspect that some reviews get less scrutiny when these difficulties raise there head requiring Hoo to redirect his resources to problem solving and playing catch-up.

You are correct Lucky but so is Hoo. The one difference I would point out is that we members offer free content only when we want, because we enjoy it or otherwise get something from it. On the other hand HB provides us with a free service day-in and day-out almost without fail and virtually without sick days, vacation, or weekends off -- it's a seven day a week job. Of course, he has his reasons for doing it but that is irrelevant to the fact that we are the beneficiaries of an excellent site the he provides for us on a free basis.

 

But I like

I agree about the "bad days" thing. I seem to have had a string of about 8 months worth. But the thing is, I can separate my problem from making it other peoples problem, at least I think I can. I mean, bitchy is one thing, but personal assassination is something else, and that's not just a bad hair day or hormones, that's a life choice. Lucky I agree with the intention of your post. I feel it was a cummulation of your frustration of seeing so many empty reviews the past 3 months or so. If you truly didn't care you wouldn't have bothered posting.

 

As for the tone of your post HB knows quite well that you tend to put a satorical slant in your messages. I wuld not have expected your post to read any differently.

 

Regarding TY reply to you I disagree in part with his comments. First if HB had receivd many "unknown" emails complaining about reviews recently, maybe HB should wake up and take a look around. I also disagree about this being a 7 day a week job and we should think what?

 

He is self employed, he made a huge announcement on this site when he remarked that he was earning a living from this M4M and was going to give up his main job to concentrate on the site. Little has changed around here. The long and then often mentioned database, facelift and other features have never occured. HB made a decision to be self employed, if that means working 24/7 then so be it. He is a talented man and if he was not earning a reasonable living being self employed, I know of positions he could accept in his former career. And guys his former career was pretty nice.

 

HB comment about enjoying the free ride was uncalled for. I don't see the free ride. Few people would pay to access this site, someone would eventually copy his idea, and others would just head to alternative free sites such as CFS.

 

We all have feelings and we all have opinions. As the host HB should have addressed a regular and respected participant of this site with a little more grace.

Please know that there are scores of fascinated readers who tune in every day to this site and are extremely grateful for all the time and effort you put into it.

I've been reading just about every day for several years, even though I just recently registered in order to post on this board. (The newest version of the software was the first that actually allowed me to register. Attempts with past versions of the board never seemed to work.) I've also been contributing reviews on my experiences with escorts for several years here. I'll admit that sometimes my own impatience has led me to send an email asking "where is my review" -- usually out of concern that a review submitted several weeks prior has not yet appeared and may have been lost. Hearing that you get so many such emails that it delays checking out and posting new reviews tells me that I should cease and desist from sending you such emails in future!

As for the occasional nastiness that creeps into the board, I wish everybody would just chill out and remember that Hooboy is the host, not the originator of the content of the reviews. All of us who contribute reviews bear the responsibility for accuracy and for providing sufficient information so that other readers will have a basis for making decision about which escorts to contact. I've tried to take that responsibility very seriously in the past. I've even refrained from submitting reviews a few times where I thought the escort was just having a bad day and what I said would not be representative of his true qualities. I have posted some negative reviews -- almost invariably provoking a response from the escort that was usually inaccurate in some way. But then we have to remember that everybody tends to see things from their own perspective, and what seemed to the escort like enthusiasm on his part may have struck me as indifference or downright hostility.

I hope Hooboy will remain interested and inspired to continue all his efforts, despite the paucity of financial contributions and the occasional slings and arrows from outraged (usually non-supporting) readers. The service is quite valuable.

The entire rewiew has now been removed so in one sense my post was well-taken. The fact that it was an old post does not put egg or sperm on my face, but only underscores the carelessness in putting up the review yesterday.

Thanks taylor and Huey for your support. Tampa Yankee, thanks for your thoughtful response. This board is indeed a collection of different personalities and I thrive on the interchange between us. I am the first to admit that my attempts at dry humor sometimes fail and that occasionally sarcasm creeps into my writing. But, nonetheless, we don't want every poster to sound or think alike. When I offend someone, I apologize. Since the various flameups on the board I have tried to post in a more positive manner, succeeding more often than not.

Hooboy has once before had to apologize to me for being nasty but then he deleted it. I do not expect Hooboy to like every poster, but I would like him to accept criticism in a better manner. That said, I should have realized that Hooboy responds as he does and posted my comment in a milder way. Everybody should continue to let me know if they don't like something I post, but it would be nice if you let me know when you do like something.

 

(send2hnl- there is a whole thread on what people would like to see in reviews. I agree that 2 years ago the reviews were often brief. The dustup wouldn't have happened if the review hadn't somehow found its way out of obscurity.)
