The current thread "Who Floated Your Boat in 2011?" got me to thinking about past escorts of the year "winners". I noticed that in today's reviews there is a review of Paul Escortdad and it indicates he was the 2007 Escort of the Year. Not easy to do a search to find others but it appears this tradition has been going on since around 1999 (perhaps even before). Was wondering if the members here could help me fill in the list of past winners over the years?

It would be interesting to see what kinds of guys people have liked and if that preference has changed, and if past winners are still in the business or not.

jgoo -- I'm sure others can probably help even more, but here's what I know off the top of my head. Most of the previous winners I know of are still in the business:

2010 -- AJ Irons (1st runner up Sean Knight, 2nd runner up Tyger Hudson, best newcomer Brandon Michael Williams)

2009 -- Romann (1st runner up Andrew Dragon, 2nd runner up Tyger Hudson)

2008 -- David-sf (1st runner up Andrew Dragon, 2nd runners up Pierre (Montreal) and Alex (Vancouver)

2007 had quite a few winners. These include Benjamin Nicholas, Steven Draker, Juan (Vancouver) Bruno, and Brandan Steele. There may be more that year that I haven't come across.

I don't know where the 2007 winners are listed, but have seen the 2007 escort of the year listed on the reviews of all the men I've mentioned. I know Jon Ramsey was listed as a 1999 EOY Top Ten finalist and 2000 Escort of the Year finalist. Those were in Hooboy's days and I doubt if those are available.

Starting with the 2008 Escort of the Year awards, they are always published on January 1st of the following year -- the 2008 winners are shown in the reviews on the date of 2009-01-01. So this year's winner should be posted sometime around then. In 2010, I believe Daddy posted it around 3 or 4 AM on the 1st. But in 2011, he must have had a hell of a party because it wasn't until about 3 or 4 AM on 1/2. I know because I kept hitting update on the website like every 15 minutes all day on the 1st waiting to find them. I really need to get a life, don't I. But it was worth it. Two of my guys won (Sean and Tyger). Not only that, but it was my reviews that Daddy used in his description of the winners (Okliehomo wrote the review for AJ).

I also look at the Honorable Mentions. For the guys who are there every year, I think it gives a great indication of a really top notch, best in the business escort as well.

Here are links to the last few year's winners thread.

So if anyone has information on other 2007 winners or before, please jump in.

And Daddy -- thank you for putting this together. It's always a highlight of the year. And it also serves as a great guide to guys like me for finding those quality escorts we all so badly want to find.

This is quite interesting, and I am pleased that the originator of this thread decided to create it.

And I do not know where I was in terms of casting my vote. I've been at this forum for many a

year now, but do fondly remember that my attention came to this particular thread when "my

DavidSF" won in 2008. I think that was the first year that I met him.

Lee - thanks for listing those you know. What I find interesting is that all four escorts you've listed as 2007 winners are still in the business and still have strong following. My intuition tells me that the reason for the recognition is that they must enjoy this profession. And when you enjoy what you are doing, you don't quickly change paths.

From what I can tell, after 2007 the method for determining an escort of the year changed to a polling of forum members on who should have that honor. 2007 and before was based on volume of reviews so that is why there appears to be multiple winners instead of just one. The post by Deej in 2007 explains how it was done pre-2008 in this thread: http://www.companyofmen.org/showthread.php?63029-2007-Escort-of-the-Year-Status&highlight=2007+escort+year

There may be differing opinions as to which approach is better (polling forum members or volume of reviews) but my view is that the polling system is better. Kind of like the academy awards where academy members vote (as opposed to selecting best picture based on movie grosses). Not a perfect analogy as our "academy" members aren't invited to join but it is pretty much open to any Tom, Dick and Harry who wants to participate :)

I agree with your intuition. From the reviews of each of these guys, most have been around for at least 10 years (some maybe longer) and they are successful in what they do for that length of time because they are good at it (as evidence by many many glowing reviews for each) and, as you say, they seem to really enjoy what they do. I can't imagine anyone lasting as an escort that long if they truly didn't enjoy it. These gentlemen aren't fly by night hookers but rather they are true professionals who have made a career out of escorting.

Not technically accurate. It was the size of their review page in bytes that exceeded a system limit. Also, The message center is not the only group that I poll.

it's good to see that even after getting knocked around in other threads for your obsessively sad behavior, you still can poke out of your hole to confirm everyone's opinion of you.

guessing that sam is talking about benjamin Nicholas, who is a favorite of mine too :)

He said that all four of the escorts of the year in 2007 I mentioned are still in business. I sure didn't get he was trying to lead anyone anywhere. He is completely accurate in his analysis. To stay in this business that long, it does take a commitment and a proven track record of meeting client's needs. No, I'm leading anyone anywhere since I haven't been with any of the 4 names mentioned.

But I would like to mention a couple of other names that jumped out at me in looking at the honorable mention lists. There are only two men who have been listed on all 3 honorable mention lists and I think that really takes something too. They are Shaun Ross and Tom Isern. Additionally, there are 6 other men who have been mentioned on 2 of the 3 Honorable Mention List: Dane Scott, Kristian Elix, Michael Vincenzo, Raul G. Manzo, Steve #7, and Steven Kesslar.

So I say congrats to these 8 men as well.
