In a word, fabulous. For your money, Cuba is a vacation bargain par excellent. F&B is superlative and reasonably priced. The old Hotel Nationale, my accomodation of choice, is somewhat worn in its appointments, but the accomodations are spacious and the service is attentive. As for the "scene", it is peopled by some of the most beautiful men I have encountered in my thirty years of travels. Unfortunately, fellow travelers are on the "down low"; nonetheless, an native escort or "tiger" can manage things for you. A few drinks, a smoke and fifty dollars will get you an "overnight" with an Antonio Sabato Jr. "look-a-like" eager to please. . .

I went through Mexico, it is quite simple really, and getting easier. And the boys...OMG but the working boys are all on the down-low..but are accessable.

I had a great time in Havana (4 or 5 years ago) for 3 days and found the guys, like everyone has said, very handsome and sexy. I got flirted with a few times but was never able to connect. I would go back in a flash if I know what "routine" to follow to connect with them.

A good gay tour guide is a must..he will know when and what to say to get the hook up. There are areas that the Govt. allows the boys to congregate in, and basically leaves them alone. Certain clubs while not advertised as gay are VERY gay friendly ;-) and as it is with alot of 3rd world countries the boys are really fascinated by Americans.

 

The risk is always there as in with any country where homosexuality is looked down upon by the police and officials. I would NEVER attempt to solicite someone without a guide, not yet anyway. I have heard that in only the last few years things have really eased up..I would pm Robber, I believe that he has just returned so he would be able to give you some up to date information. VERY NICE PEOPLE and the boys...well, sexy as hell and void of some of the Miami cockyness.

There is a non-stop flight from Chicago O'Hare operated by C & T who say they will add another flight starting in January. http://www.ctcharters.com/home.html

Though flying via Mexico may still be the way to go if one wants to avoid paperwork or dealing with the U.S. Department of Treasury.

Americans can fly to Cuba via Miami. I'll place the particulars on here within a few days. In the mid 90s I flew from Miami to Cuba with 8 Americans.

We were in a group with the prime focus on "education." It was all legal; at that time we DID NOT HAVE our passports stamped. I brought back some

cigars which I declared at Customs in Miami. I had no problemos. But again, I'll post web addresses here within a few days. ...would do it now but have

Several years ago a young Cuban expatriate was recommended to me by a friend; he was not suitable to me as an "escort" but I noted that he was very capable in "handling business". I proposed to him that he accompany me to Cuba as my "tiger". I could not have done better by myself: he took care of "everything" in a first class manner, luggage, transportation, accomodations, restaurants, sight-seeing, etc ad infinitum. Informed as to my "taste" in men, he presented vetted "companions" who would be of an interest to me. Being that he was from a "blue-collar", if you will, background, he was familiar with the how and the where and the whytofore of the "scene" in Cuba, a "must" for any fellow traveler.
