I admit it. I've been guilty of enduring a few bad movies to watch (and lust after) the hunky, semi-naked actors. I'll do it again when "A Warrior's Heart" featuring shirtless hotties Kellan Lutz and Chord Overstreet hits the big screen next week.

I watched the preview. I was not totally convinced it was going to be horrible. And certainly the eye candy was sweet enough make insulin required rating.

Oh, I think the epitome of this was former Olympic gymast Kurt Thomas in "Gymkata". There was absolutely no redeeming value in the movie except watching him flex and twirl. It gets props for using a vaguely disguised pommel horse in a ninja combat scene. But he was pretty. (Yeah, it's as bad as it sounds.)

 

But there have been so many others!

Truly a terrible movie and a magnificent ass on Paul Mercurio which the producer;s show off in every conceivable way. I particular like when Dana Delaney as the Mistress is slapping his ass with that nice little riding crop. I must admit that if I am changing channels and I run across this movie, I will always stop to get a fix on that ass.

If it's a really bad movie, I can do something else. What I will do is watch bad gay films simply because it's a gay flick. Sad but true.

May years ago, when I was in my late teens and twenties, I would go to films to see the actors' torsos and secretly lust and dream about them. As a senior in high school I discovered by accident the thrill of the old movie theatres on 42nd Street, sitting in a darkened theatre in late afternoon watching some crazy European film that offered quite a few scenes of men in the '60's version of speedos, and while watching suddenly feel of another man's hand on my thigh.

 

In my 30's and 40's I discovered the thrill of European bar and sauna scenes and less and less wasted time on big screen films - but I admit to a certain bias -- like JAG here -- to watching films that were considered gay flicks -- and many of them were really awful. Porn gave me more satisfaction.

 

Still... I found myself in a theatre watching some of the TWILIGHT movies just to see the shirts come off; but at the cost for tickets these days? I prefer downloading these as a rental on my iPad. I get the film which I can fast forward, and do not have to put up with the obnoxious behavior of others around me talking, eating, etc... Of course, I am beyond the age where the guy next to me in a theatre is going to be man-handling my thighs.

The mention of Paul Mercurio brought back some really great memories.

 

I first saw him in "Strictly Ballroom," a really unique film at its time. He showed his tremendous dancing talent at that time.

I actually remember both those movies quite well. My sister loved Gimme an F and videotaped. Somehow or another, I now have that tape. May have to watch it again this weekend.

 

And Exit to Eden, I wanted to see it in the movie theater so bad, it wasn't funny. I was interested in BDSM, but never had an opportunity to explore it. I actually went to see it in a theater on the other side of town so that no one I knew would see me going into it. I also managed to find a copy of the movie "Cruising" at a movie rental place. I tried to rent that a couple of times, but didn't want to rent it too much, or they'd know something was up. Now I realize that I highly doubt that they cared, lol.
