I received a email from them offering me 30 days of a free premium ad. I emailed them back Friday to ask this question but so far no response. How much is a premium ad once the 30days is up? and how much is a standard ad if I revert to that after the 30days?

since its just a massage ad for 1 city i figured the basic ad would be enough

I wouldn't go with basic...You get put at the bottom of the list.

Hell, if they are offering you a free month; take it. My men4rent ad costs more per month than my phone (and I have 2 lines), electric, cable, internet, insurance...

Shit, if we're paying that much then they need to damn file our taxes and give us some damn health benefits LOL. Dead ass serious. We should become their employees. I'm sure they can friggin afford it.

They want to charge all that money but expect us to do all the work.

I think my advertising budgets way to low. I spend 34.95 to masseurfinder since 2003 they never raise my rate. I pay 49.95 to massagem4m. and that's it lol

Keep in mind a massage therapists price point is way lower than a escorts so I have to see a larger number of clients. Still I think I should be spending at least double what I currently spend

It's a free 30 days so take it. Free is free and even if you get one client during those 30 days that's pure profit, money in your pocket. Also I've noticed that listings are placed on who signed in first. So if you sign in after someone who is premium your listed first.

Hugs,

Greg

I am currently on a 30 day free listing, following an email from them. Anyone who offers me something for nothing is ok in my book. It costs me nothing and if I don't have to hand over a card number to secure future advertising then it's a win/win

What happens when the free trial is over? M4RN typically leaves expired ads up for quite a while; if you choose not to pay, will your ad remain there? That could cause some frustration for would-be clients who might think you are simply ignoring ther emails. (Many readers are unaware when an ad is no longer active, as has been demosntrated repeatedly in this message center.)

Ironically, it's that "something for nothing" approach that built their site full and at the same time tarnished the site's reputation with customers (us!).

M4RN never removes ads. I'm personally aware of two ads for deceased escorts. They leave them up so the site looks "more full", but remove contact information when the bills don't get paid for an ad. They leave an email link, but the email is never passed on to the escort. Clients, of course, don't have any way to know this unless they read this message board. If you navigate to the site's top page, there will be a row of "premiere" listings. You'll be lucky if ONE of them links to a live ad. Last time I went there, fully half of the regular ads on the top page linked to inactive listings.

But they've been around for 10 years or so, so the approach seems to be working for them. Not so sure how well it will work for *YOU* because clients are predisposed not to trust it. But, hey, for free take.

Well, if you bounce a check...they remove you immediately with no notification LOL. Or also if they re-bill you $99 because you forgot to cancel and you call CCBill to ask for a refund, they'll probably also delete you right away. That's the only way to get removed. They take 2 weeks to cash the check, meanwhile allowing your ad to remain up.

I've had my ups and downs with them...but due to geographic locations it's like what else can I do? With so many zombie ads, it's hard to tell who else is actually advertising. Pretty much have to click on each individual ad to see whether the person has a phone number up.

As Deej pointed out in the Men4RentNow case a free ad could be a win-lose situation. Few know that you can login to your M4RN account and delete completely and definitively your inactive ad from their database.

By the way, I activate my M4RNow ad only when I'm in the US, the site brings little to no business in Europe, Steve. FWIW.

In May 2007 I was in Florida for a few weeks and I had an ad on M4RN. When I travelled out of Florida I didn't continue the ad. As others had already written before, the ad stayed online and ...

Although I hated the fact that those clients wouldn't get a response ...

Anton, as I pointed out above you can login to your M4RN account and delete completely and definitively your inactive ad from their database. That would have saved you the headache since 2007.

If you look a bit further down, in the second blue box named "Your advertisement" there's an active link called "Delete Your Account". Hit it.

* Update Your Ad and Your Headline

* Update Your Photos

* Enable/Disable Photo Rotation in Search Results

* Update Your Contact Info and Personal Stats

* Update Your Availability

* Choose Your Travel City

* Temporarily Suspend Your Ad

* Delete Your Account

* Reply to Wanted List Postings — NEW!

* Email / Mobile TEXT Alerts

* Make a Payment

* View Your Ad as it appears on Men4RentNow.com

Deleting your account will permanently remove your ad from appearing on the Men4RentNow.com site and prevent further contact with you by M4RN

M4RNow doesn't offer travel ads and there is no such thing as "one specific inactive ad within the account", Anton. There's only one ad that could appear under different locations (up to 4 depending on your membership). From what I understand you had a free trial ad for 30 days in 2007.

If you don't pay or don't wish to continue your membership, your one and only ad on Men4Rent becomes inactive and contact information is removed making it a NUISANCE AD.

Often I've noticed that some like to complain here, but when a solution is offered to remove the ad and delete the account altogether, suddenly interest is lost. Assume the position, guys.

I now have five usernames with M4RN (from the period 2005 through 2007). Sure, I can forget the four first ones (which is not a real problem), but I never found it handy to come up with yet another username again and again. This may sound as a complaint, but it's most of all intended as something useful to know.

I don't remember the exact reason why I had to choose a new username each time, but I do remember that I called them and asked if I could use my old username again (which wasn't possible). For those who consider to advertise on M4RN, deleting an account may have the effect that you'll have to start with a new username when you come back and want to advertise again.

I've had the same experience. I've deleted my ad at various times over the years, then when I wanted to place a new ad had to create a new username. They don't let you use a username you've used before, even if there is no longer an ad up that's associated with the account.

It's not the end of the world to have to come up with another username but it would be nice to be able to reinstate a previous one. Not sure why they have to have it set up this way - Rentboy allows you to pull ads and place new ones using the same account, so it shouldn't have to be a big deal.
