Hi. I've always had a sweater fetish. Where can I find (don't say "Ireland", smartass) more quality, hand-knit, sweaters like this one (it's sold out)? IE not Macy's etc, but real specialty Irish, Newfoundland, Scandanavian, folk stores both on and off line. Thank you for your time.

p.s. Yes the man is handsome, so now that that's out of the way...my sweaters please.

I think a true Irish sweater is all white.

When I first read your post's title, I thought you were referring to Irish men who perspire a lot.

Well, I'm refering to the nontraditional ones that aren't all white but are sweaters and are made (apologies for using the passive voice there) in Ireland. Also like Newfie, Icelandic, and Nordic sweaters. Anybody?

Thanks John and Blue.

Blue, I found that site and the knit looks too loose to me. I suspect it would snag.

John, thank you. I also found that site a long time ago, and like two of their sweaters.

However I am interested in finding sweaters that REALLY standout, like the one in the photo at the top. I know there was once a great Irish Sweater on the Lower East Side (monkey showed me where while we were wating for "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" to start last weekend) and so I'm willing to travel to a US store, or order their catalog, if anybody knows of some offline. Otherwise, more internet sites too.

And again I'm not only interested in Irish Sweaters. Newfounland, Norway, and Iceland types are really impressive too.

Thank you again. MORE MORE. :-)

LOL! I've seen some pretty darn nice Irish Sweaters down there too, so it works either way.

Interesting search, tho. I spent just a few minutes on google and didn't turn anything up that hasn't already been mentioned here. It's like Irish sweaters are distributed in secret or something.

Hmmm ... if you bump into something outside this thread, do let us know eh? I love a good sweater too.

Rod, there are a chain of stores in California--at least in Sf and a few other northern Calif towns -- called (wouldn't you know)

"The Irish Shop" The one I have been in while traveling in Northern Ca has phone # 1 707 443 8343. They have great sweaters and I'm sure they could tell you of their other other stores. The store abhove had a much larger selection than their web page http://www.theirishshop.com/Default.asp?Page=CAT&CatID=2956&SelID=2988.

Hope this helps ;)

Ive been with a few Irish guys whose sweat was outrageously sweet smelling. Finest moist sweet smelling sweat around IMO (toes, balls cock crotch).

What you want, I think, is not Irish but Scottish. It's called a "Fair Isle" sweater. Unlike the Irish sweater, it's multicolored and knitted with a simple knit/perl pattern. No loops, nothing to snag. I notice that there are all sorts of URLs now offered, and so you don't need me to help you there.

The most beautiful ones I've seen were in the Burlington Arcade in London, so I imagine that I'd look for a site in Britain. Probably Scotland itself. I have also seen beautiful Fair Isle sweaters in those government-sponsored Scottish craft shops that are all over Britain.
