Where, I wonder, did you learn to speak English. I have never seen one person use even a fraction of the malapropisms you dream up. Alarming given what you do for a living. Still, once I learned to insert the stick between my clenched jaws during the seizure that is reading your posts, I not only started to enjoy them, I began to seek them out.

Kalifornia shits on the board and out come the flies. Why don't you let the guy take a dump in peace? Move on to something else. Oh, I almost forgot. You can't. You're flies.

Generally I like to live and let live. But there is something about an academic that sets my teeth on edge. If the academic has tenure, which dramatically increases the likelihood that he has acquired the habit of unselfconscious pontification, so much the worse. What these people need more of in their lives is other people who will stand up and say what a steaming load of horse crap. I'm not sure why other people don't, are you?

Sorry to disagree, but I miss Regulation. First, he's smart, and that's an attribute here that... well, never mind. Second, you could set your watch by the way the guy responded when you pushed one of his hot buttons. And I have always admired consistency... wait for the qualification... among the intelligent. Keep in mind that Dr. Johnson was also obsessive-compulsive.

No, I'm not sorry I was rude to the idiot who cheerfully confessed TO A MESSAGE BOARD that he had tried and failed to commit suicide, and was just stopping by to say so long. What I said was that he needed better help than he was getting. I stand by that.

Maybe you're happy with the new civility (ahem) in the message center but I continue to miss the challenging aspects of many of the rude but intelligent messages being posted here last year. TruthTeller was an abomination. Ethan was an argumentative, paranoid little shit. But one year later, I am sorely tempted to say they brought life to the Message Center that has been absent since. This would lead to a larger comment about management, except... hey, what happened to post #0?!?!?!?

What does it mean or say about me that I actually miss Thunderbuns? Oh, dear God.

RE: We're Consolidating

>TO whom do you speak? To all of us, especially the ones like Flower who like to pontificate :+

This is one of Blu's longer posts and even that is to the point and raises salient issues for us flies to swam on, although you can't say that he shit on the board like Kalifornia does all the time.

But I gotta tell ya, I miss the good old days when the board had flames going at every other post. I said as much in my Post a couple months ago regretting Ethan's demise and objecting to the way it was done--and even though I got all kinds of shit for the post, it drew (I think--someone will go pull the archives to see if they can say I was wrong) over 100 responses and lasted for days until it was locked up by someone not liking where it was going }>

Yeah, I miss Ethan on this board cause he generated responses and exchanges of thought (arguments). I have never met Ethan, but since then, and probably as a result of, we have become good email friends.

Thunderbutt was another one I enjoyed reading--never agreed with him, but liked the way he's shit on the board also--but with a lot more class than Kalifornia, cause Thunderbuns was way smarter, which is obvious.

Regulation was good to stir the pot as well as others. This new civility is sorta boring--alright--here we go--10 responses saying if I don't like it here, go somewhere else). But it would be interesting to know the real statistics about how many hits the MC is getting now verses when it was red hot--after all, the more hits, the more valuable it is to hoo, who posters from time to time feel an obligation, almost tearie-eyed, to thank for having this web site for our use }> (And don't get me wrong, I really like it here :)

Yet many here say they don't like the turmoil--that always made me chuckle--sorta like people who object to porn but feel compelled to watch it so they can accurately relate what's bad about it :p

I think it'd be a great idea if the moderators classified the Posts into G for the nice guys and PG for the rough and tumble stuff--and ya know what--all the people that say they want a more gentle board would still read the PG side and still complain:D

Nice post Blue, even though I'm one of the flies and a pontificator, as Benjamin said last night, "I wear that badge proudly." ;)

Just as I am trying to be a nicer guy someone comes along and misses the potshots! Well God bless you, and I don't mean Brian Buzzini!

>what's the reference to dr. johnson, never heard that one.

Ah, he was famously late to dinner parties, because along the way he would catch himself miscounting pickets on fences and have to start over and over and over....

This, BTW, is the Dr. Johnson who published the first English dictionary in 1755. My favorite definition among many favorites: OATS, (noun) a grain which in England feeds horses but which in Scotland sustains the populace.

Something like that.

Bluenix,

Where's this post? I completely missed it, it having nothing to do with drugs or cocks or drugs with cocks. I need a laugh this morning.

Thanks.

His definition of patron is still good: "Commonly a wretch who supports with insolence, and is paid with flattery.”

Certainly the view of many of the people here.

Well Flower, (not to be confused with wall flower) Thunderbuns is still around. After returning from a 5 week treck across the continent and back I find my interest in this board has somewhat wanned.

I too miss the spice of what used to be. I would often add to the fray just for the pure delight of reading the combative responses. It's all too "goody two shoes" for my liking these days. I guess I will stick in my 2 cents worth from time to time but as for being a regular - I don't think so!

Something I have never been able to understand is the general feeling that if someone posts something that pisses someone else off, then that poster is forever on their shit list. Dumb idea in my estimation.

Amused to hear you think I have more class than Kalifornia. Thank you, (I think). I enjoy K's posts. A little redneck at times but them look at what he does for a living (or so he claims). I have a mental picture of his looking like Eric Estrada (spelling?) as he was on CHIPS. I wasn't around for the series, but love those syndicated re-runs. Breeches and high leather boots......... drool!

And one final word - are you sure we didn't agree on ANYTHING?

See, there again, our perception differs--I think of him as a J.Edgar Hoover lookalike or slightly younger brother }>

Well, now that you mention it, we both like bois LOL :-) and I seem to remember saying "that I never thught I'd see the day I'd agree with you but...." one or two times LOL :-)

Hope you at least occaissionally stir the pot--gets all the folks who object-but can't-resist-reading in an up-roar :-)

Blu,

It is so true...but it is self-regulation too.... I think a lot of people have left this board from getting beat up...while others are also curbing the way they respond.

I don't mind insightful and intelligent putdowns. I don't even mind bitchy funny ones.....but the idiotic mean spirited just so I can have the last word ones....really make me want to stop reading the boards myself.

I'm curious...where did all those guys go...they must be having withdrawal symptoms at some point.

Interestingly (or not) enough, it's the goody two shoes that drove we away from these boards the first time, and now I seem to be morphing into one myself. Go figure.

I really don't see the point of berating people simply for the sake of the buzz one gets from it. People come here for many reasons, and I bet some come because it's their only connection to gay life (either because they're closeted in some godforsaken one-horse town, or closeted by their own idiocy and perception of their lives). In any case, to make them feel bad or to doubt themselves even more is nothing short of cruel. It serves no purpose, other than to say "look, I'm so much more clever and hip than you."

Truthteller was a different story; very funny dude and he loved to burst the complacency of the pontificators. I really never saw him as cruel per se. Someone like regulation, however (and I know there are some who feel he is/was truthteller) loved to reduce people to tears. They seem to have moved on, but there are many to take their places.

I like a healthy debator and hate a loudmouth pontificator. We have both here.

>Where's this post?

Gone, alas.

It was Jizz's farewell post several months back. He told the board he'd tried and failed to kill himself by gunshot. (Last year he told the board his father had earlier succeeded at same.)

Somehow, these events were supposed to relate to his sexual addiction, though I forget how, and part of his get well program included not coming here anymore. So he dropped in to say good-bye.

If that's not astonishing enough, well-wishers were posting things like, "Sorry to hear this!" and, even better, "Cheer up!"

I thought you were referring to "Doc Johnson" who sells the nifty dildoes and sex toys.

There was a time when I felt TruthTeller was a scourge here, but I really miss his posts. He could be incredibly funny, and often his arguments were so solid you could hardly answer them, even if you disagreed.

There's no doub that the message center is nowhere near as interesting as it was at one time.

As for Ethan, I've spoken with him by phone at various times and find him to be a delightful human being. While some found his presence here irritating, I think the Message Center functions better as a big tent with lots of different viewpoints than just those who want to play nice all the time.

Yes, there are some here who get under my skin from time to time, but I wouldn't be in favor of seeing them banished, with perhaps the one exception of a certain wacko porno bozo who's used just about every online forum to try to promote his interests, but will remain unnamed. If you're curious as to who I'm referring to, check out the "Advertising" thread.

This reminds me of the old addage that some see the glass as half empty, others see it as half full.

My Eric Estrada image is the half full one.

J. Edgar Hoover is definately the half empty one. :-)

Ethan annoyed me more than any poster here. I think the place is better without the tone of his posts. So, if he really has another nicer persona, then it would be cool if he came back.

Regulation may be through with his surgery by now. As I understand it, the doctors had mixed his optic nerves with the anal nerves, giving him a shitty outlook on life. If the new surgery is succesful, he may turn out to be a nice guy.

I don't think Thunderbun will stay away from here despite his "wanning" interest, but I hope he does have a life now that provides him with alternative excitement. His place as the prolific poster was soon occupied by another, saintly man.

I miss Mr B's posts.

I moved out of Kalifornia for many reasons, but in general there are nice people there. New York has more assholes but is also home to many lust loving memebers of our board. Somehow in an international message board, I think we could have an intelligent and fun exchange of ideas that both titilaltes our minds and our lust. Then each of us would flower until we felt like we were on XTC.

Finally, I like Hooboy for his taste in escorts, his determination and drive in putting together a great web site, and his general ability to let us play here without much interference. (Yeah, I know, but we all have our bad days!)

As for me, I like to tease, to provoke, to debate, and in general have fun. Sometimes I don't succeed, but generally, I am a nice guy. I like posting here, and I am glad you guys do too!

Reg and TT were the smartest and most literate posters here in my opinion, though they never hesitated to let people know they thought so too. To me it's telling that their harshest critics were usually the biggest jerks and people who had trouble writing one sentence without a mistake in it. I wouldn't expect then to be too popular since they made fools of just about every other regular here at one time or another including yours truly. I still miss them.

TruthTeller

I was glad when my friend TruthTeller started posting (and I loved his arrogant but accurate choice of handles) because I was getting tired of emailing him links to threads from the message center everyday (he'd refused to bookmark it). I enjoy having him as a friend (he started as Derek's & then my slave/client), because when we have time to talk, we usually argue, and one of us (he'll never admit it's ever him) comes away learning something new. I loved when he exposed/confronted the irrational or closed-minds here but I never was a fan of his nastier personal attacks. All in all, I found/find him to be very funny and exasperating...which is just the type of person I like to call "friend." I still occasionally email him links to threads but true to his word, he ain't coming back. However, I don't pine for his return. I have enjoyed the Message Center for almost 3 years & I continue to enjoy it, and there are more than enough posters here to keep me entertained (and of course I love having an outlet for my smartass humor). :p

The message board......

Is it me or does anyone else find it strange that people are bemoaning the abscence of posters such as Ethan/DCeBoy,TruthTeller etc but when they WERE here they were vilified for posting their thoughts and opinions and now people are saying how dull and lifeless it seems without them ......Hmmmmmm

Obviously this place is bigger than any 1 poster but the place needs to evolve and its going thru one of the quieter periods and people are finding that they do have lives and other things to occupy themselves (me for one) and dont come here as often as they did but when something juicy does come along they will be back....meanwhile hopefully new people will start joining in and giving the place a new impetus and sense of direction .

Is this an English composition class or competition? I thought it was supposed to be free thought and gut felt response. Please tame the impressive vocabulary and pentameter. always, Joey
