dear god...i know the person who wrote that. a friend of mine and I went to a relationships workshop he gave once near detroit. seriously..he was just a friend of mine..we never were more than that....he's been lost to the sands of time since then. but we thought it would be cool to see what type of advice he gave out and besides it was free. it lasted for about 2 hours. we learned basic techniques such as "mirroring" and other things.

over the years, i've made some limited observations about him since he is based in Michigan.

G,

Would you mind sharing some of your observations?

Switzerland

I can't Rex. I've really become even more aware (and stay away from) in expressing my opinions about any other people except myself (on or off the forums). I try to stay as neutral in stance when it comes to people (I've found that it's one of the best ways to make my life as stress-free and drama-free as is possible). Think of me as Switzerland. People can read the articles and material for themselves and make up their own mind.

You mentioned in your first post having made several limited observations, which would be a factual report. You then stated you are wary of expressing opinions, which by their nature are not factual but inferences drawn from a set of factual observations. As far as Switzerland is concerned, I believe the Swiss make observations, they may even express opinions but they act in the best interest of the Swiss economy. So is that a fair representation of your guide to a relatively stress free life?

Still Sweden

I'm sorry PK. I don't like getting involved..that's what I mean. Not to say I haven't gotten involved in other things in my life before BUT I don't want to do that on the forum because people are very quick to judge and so I like being neutral. And no I don't make decisions in the best interest of the Swiss or any other economy, I'm just trying to avoid anything that could cause me to be upset or anxious.

Haven't posted here in a long time, but I do come and lurk pretty often. I've read a book or books by Joe Kort (the author of post linked to in the original post here) in the past--although I don't remember their titles now. I found the site the OP linked to fascinating. In this time where LGBT rights get blocked by people who use so-called ex-gays as evidence for why we don't need full rights (just treatment), Kort's work offers some very useful, if complex, alternative explanations for some of the reparative therapy success stories (the few that are not obvious cases of self delusion). I found this post fascinating: http://straightguise.blogspot.com/2007/07/what-is-straight-guise.html. It makes a lot of sense that besides all the genuinely gay men in the world, there are some men who seek sex with other men but are essentially heterosexual.

I agree that research references would be a great addition to Kort's site.

(Disclaimer: all of these ideas are his own. He cites no real supporting research)

You are the Master of Irony! I love how you presented this as "the truth" but then added a disclaimer that it's just one guy's opinion. ;)
