Are some hotel staff open to occasional escorting?

I just got back from a business trip. A really attractive young man in his twenties brought me a room service dinner on my first night in a very well known (but somewhat conservatice) hotel chain with locations world-wide. I stay with them as often as I can and I am a pretty high level rewards card member. So, they know exactly who I am - and pay special attention to me because of my so-called stataus with them ... and this makes me a little afraid to be forward. Well, I came so close after three different business encounters with this guy, but couldn't bring myself to do it. In my last conversation with him he laghed about all the types of people he had met in his work. .... So, what is your experience and your advice to me. So far, I am erring on the side of caution.

Oh happyguy2, I'm just like you. Sometimes the best hookups are the ones who "got away". Would of, could of, should of...

I've been in so many situations where the bellboy, doorman, or concierge is extremely friendly, social and solicitous. They also know I'm gay as I ask them about the gayborhoods and bars. Although "gaydar" tells me they are family, I'm hesitant to pursue it any further. I'm usually at nice hotels for work and I'd hate for a scene to happen especially when my boss or colleagues are there. I have a colleague who hooks up frequently and he always insists on having a room on a separate floor away from our boss (along with a king size bed and extra towels).

One time, a cute waiter who I chatted with for several days asked me for my room number and said he'd come up after his shift. I was so nervous (and so young then) that I didn't know what to do...

Wish I had had the opportunity to fantasize about "room service" from a cute young hotel employee. (Which I think I would hold at the fantasy level.) I'm a "frequent sleeper" at some of these hotels too ... and maybe they've got my number, because they keep sending me room service guys and bellhops who are almost as old as I am.

Some years ago, I was on a pre-opening site visit to a hotel in New Orleans. I arrived late at night and during a thunderstorm. I was also listed as a VIP as this was a pre-opening situation meaning that the hotel was in shake down and not ready to receive many guests till final checks were complete.

The Front Desk Associate was a very nice looking young man and we made a connection during the check in process. Lot's a bantering and serious eye contact and gestures. I was in lust and it was clear that so was he.

Since it was raining the bellman was dealing with a small flood that was entering the lobby. Construction issues clearly. Front Desk Associate offers to take me to my room while the bellman dealt with the minor flood. When we got to my room he showed me all the amenities and with that dropped to his knees and proceeded to offer some of that famous New Orleans Hospitality. It turned into one very hot encounter without par.

After my return to the office I wrote the General Manager complimenting his hotel and the incredible customer service skills of Front Desk Associate.

An acquaintance of mine has propositioned hotel staff on many occasions. He's rather well-to-do so his cash tips are a bit above the norm. Consequently he gets a lot of attention from the staff. It's my understanding he will write a note to the effect "there's more where this came from" and leaves his number. Bellmen, concierges, and bartenders have wound up visiting his room and gotten an extra tip. Thus far, he's never had a problem or issue with this method.

Now for US hotel staff this type of behavior is risky. You are much more likely to find willing hotel staff internationally depending on the country and property.

I guess I may be old fashioned, but I suggest you keep this at the fantasy level in the USA. I travel a lot on business, and have "status" with almost all the well known brands/chains. I know a lot of the GMs at these hotels, and I count among friends some of the top levels of management and sales at their national offices. It would only take one unfortunate incident to ruin many personal and professional relationships. I too have had a lot of fun flirting and more than one proposition, but I always demur. If I met someone at a bar or somewhere off property, I might consider going to that person's place, but would never do it where he works or where I am staying. JMHO.

I had a thing going with a desk clerk at a big chain hotel for about two years. He checked me in one afternoon and that night I was in the bar and he came in and sat down beside me. We talked for about a half hour and then he asked me if I like old movies. I said yes. He then asked me if I would like to come over to his place and watch one. Well, the rest is history. He was a young college student at one of the local Universities in Southern Virginia.

In both of the gay resorts I've visited in Fort Lauderdale, the housekeeping staff (generally cute youngish Latinos) were eager to bend over backwards to make mine a pleasant stay. While they weren't escorting, it did bring up the conundrum of how to tip?

I checked into a hotel in Sao Paulo 12-15 years ago. Only had hand luggage so I made my own way to the room without the help of a bellboy. Noticed a bellboy luggage cart in the hallway in front of the room next to mine. Lots of noise and commotion (female moaning orgasmically) going on in the room next door that could be heard in the hallway and also from inside my room. I needed to leave my room about five minutes later to get local money, and i happened to open my room door exactly when the bellboy was leaving the room next door. Hunky young Brazilian guy 18-20 years old. I smiled at him and congratulated him. He laughed, grabed his luggage cart and we headed for the elevator. When I retuned to my room 10 minutes later, the woman from the room next door was leaving her room. She was probably age 60 with a wedding ring. Lucky her. She got the 20 year old hunk. Of course, I do not know if money was involved or if it was just "for fun" on both sides. I did not proposition the bellboy afterwards and I always regretted that.

I have a friend who, when in college in the 80's, worked the evening shift at a motel. He'd walked the property running errands and looking in the windows. Sometimes the drapes were not closed completely. He reported seeing many different things, most often men pleasuring themselves. He would knock on the door of guys who set off his gaydar when checking in and ask if he could help with anything.

I've checked into several hotels and gotten a good flirt with the desk guy. I sometimes suggest, "Let's meet for a drink when you're off." If I hear the rule, "I can't fraternize with customers.", I know it's a NO. If he says anything else, I ask, "Can you recommend a place?" Usually, it's HIS place, but sometimes a local bar. But, I've never had hotel staff in the hotel. And I can understand why.

Kevin ... perhaps I'm wrong, but I would think there's a good chance that the staff may have known about your profession and were enamored/curious about having you stay at their resort. While most of this thread is about a client hoping to have a good time with hotel staff, in your case it may have been the hotel staff hoping to have a good time with you!

And ... for another story from a different perspective ... many years ago I worked as the front office manager for a small hotel. On occasion I would cover the night shift in an emergency or to keep abreast of operations. On one occasion, a pretty hot guy checked in rather late and in conversation he asked if I could tell him about any nearby gay bars. I was glad to oblige. When he returned from the bars in the early morning hours, we chatted about what he thought of the local gay scene ... then wound up inviting him back to my office where there were no cameras. It was a fun half hour!

This one's not difficult. The thing to do is give him your room number.

Unless it's a gay hotel and you get further signals*, I'd say you're correct erring on the side of caution. I think there are young men who flirt with me because they want to make certain they get a tip, or get a better tip, maybe not unlike a go-go dancer giving out a quick kiss or a wink.

*Maybe see if you can get a clearer signal from him by using what other people mentioned: ask for recommendations of a gay bar, or some place to watch an old movie?

I am happy that the general feeling is that we must be cautious. Thanks for all your replies, it is an interesting question - as ChiTown said, it is a great porn-movie theme. This hotel had a lot of whirlpool suites, and I was in one of them. Overnight, I was wondering if I could get away with an approach like this: You certainly know this downtown area, you went to university here and must know a lot of people. With this spa suite, it would be great to find someone who does massages. Would you happen to know a guy around your age who does this to make some extra money. I am not looking for a pro....

Could I get away with that? If you do, could you get his number for me?

EWWWH, ICK! "With this spa suite, it would be great to find someone who does massages." With look of wanton lust in your eyes...

DOUBLE EWWWH, DOUBLE ICK! "Would you happen to know a guy around your age who does this to make some extra money. I am not looking for a pro...." because I'm unwilling to pay for one!

I have to go bathe now, I've can feel the slime all over me...LOL!
