Venting is good and with any luck everyone reading your post will re-evaluate their technology habits. Of course the issue isn’t technology; it’s the people using it. In my opinion, technology has magnified an individual’s level of manners, communication skills, self-esteem, etc. etc. All we can do is teach others how to communicate with us by living our own personal standard.

Alright, I have to say, I think it was a little rude not to reply. If your policy is to not accept these types of texts, then you could have replied and told him so (or mentioned it in the text of your ads). Yes, he went on a bit in his first text (I thought they could only be 140 characters!), but he also went back & checked your ad to confirm the rate, etc. I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt and I have asked guys, after the first few texts, to call instead of text. If they continue texting after that point, then yes, it's obnoxious. But more often than nor, they do call. And many first-time texters turn out to be legitimate. Just my two dollars (inflation).

Btw, I often prefer texting to placing a cell phone to my head because I'd rather get carpal tunnel than a brain tumor. :p

I was asleep when this person texted me their rambling message. Even if I wasn't, I wouldn't respond to this kind of text message. Anyone who carries on in a text message like this person did, is someone I will likely not get along with. There is no doubt in my mind that this person is a more than a little crazy.

I have updated my ads to reflect my preferences pertaining to text messages, but I still don't think people will understand what "No lengthy text messages" means. 80% of people responding to my online ads do not read the ad. I received at least 10 voice mail messages and/or text messages yesterday asking if I was available right now; the headline of my ad says "Visiting Chicago 3/10 - 3/14 - Appointments made in advance appreciated". Yesterday's date was 3/6.

I guess I should be happy people are responding to my ad.

Now that is truly sad, Michael. Pathetic, really.

I love me my Michael Vincezo rants.

:-) Note to self: It helps to have all the information before I presume anything.

I think you just hit the nail on the head!

I agree. The text message sounded like a typist who was completely tweaked. You could see teeth grinding between each word.

It sucks for escorts but there is a nature to the horny beast. There are so many men who get off on sex talk. I hear Craigslist is full of men who get off on never-ending pic exchanges. Most of these guys have no intention of actually meeting in person. There are some you probably would never want to meet.

I don't text. The thought of typing on a miniature keyboard is torture. I don't care what young assholes think of my disinterest in embracing every aspect of modernity. I don't tweet and I will never Facebook. I prefer to lead and not follow.

This happens to me when I travel too. The ad will give the dates I'll be in the city, but a few days beforehand I'll get a couple of texts that ask "are you here yet?" Guess it can't hurt to try, though for whatever reason they are usually texts and not phone messages or emails. But 10... you've "got it going on" as they say!

I'm in complete agreement with Michael on this one! As the single dad of two "text-manic" teen-agers, I have admittedly succumbed to tolerating this pesky form of communication. However, I can't for the life of me imagine inquiring about an escort's services or availability via text messaging-- seems like texting would make the entire client/escort communication process so much more cumbersome, stilted and impersonal than it should ever be. I'd much prefer a good ol' phone conversation with any man I'm gonna hire...You sure can discern a lot about a man by his voice and his phone conversation skills, manners and style.

I've found that there are lots of guys who like to text me just to get off. I've learned now to simply respond by asking when and where and not to feed into their texting. Serious clients will text just once or twice just to see if your are available and if it's an okay time to speak on the phone. If I answer "yes." They will follow through quickly with a phone call.

i'd like to meet a guy like micheal. Its hard even to meet anyone these days who don't text. I have to disagree with not responding was rude. Are you kidding me? Anyone who sends an explicit text like that and then says sorry i see 250 an hour is being an idiot. When people text me incessantly i threaten to post their number and full details on an escort warning forum. Generally takes case of that. Also, i do have to say that i advertised in orlando last year and the texts i got were similar. Some flakey florida fuckers out there.
