The Insanity Rally brought hundreds of thousands in DC today. According reports there are some massive delays getting into all Metro parking lots and roads jammed going into downtown DC. Attendance was much greater than anticipated causing some troubles even to the seasoned travelers like myself. I'm glad you're out of DC, Lee. I'm on my way out too ... or trying to get out with most trains being sold out. Oh ... "insanity"! :D

Yesterday there were massive hoards of conventioneers in suits all wondering in huge throngs all around DC. And tomorrow is the Marine Corps Marathon -- 34,000 entrants. And you know how many support staff, tourists and everything else that entails. And the road closures.

I am so proud to be an ex- native-Washingtonian. There are not many of us native Washingtonians. I know of very few high school classmates -- native Washingtonians all -- who still live in the DC area. DC will always be home. But sometimes, home is best viewed through the rear view mirror.

1. A day of quiet reflection. Self-examination, although not always fun, is important. At least to me it is.

2. A greeting card. It is amazing how such a simple little thing as a thank you card can make your whole day and mood change completely

3. Anniversaries. 8 weeks ago today, I made my first friend here on the forums. Since then, so many of you have been so kind and patient with me. I appreciate you all and still have much to learn from each and every one of you.

1. One loves to be loved, Lee.

2. That is what we do here. This forun has been such a source of comraderie for us who have no other outlet.

3. Sex is good, but love is better.

1. Finally, after years of searching, finding the perfect cock ring. My purchase days may be at an end. Finally

2. Sexploratorium -- a great toy/clothing/fetish shop on S. 5th Street in Philadelphia. 3 Minutes off I-95, easy on, easy off. The ladies there are very comfortable working with all fetishes and plain old toys. Everyone has been excessively knowledgeable, professional and friendly. If you drive through Philly, you need to stop here.

3. the NFL Schedule makers. I'm not sure now they knew I had to drive through later today, but it was nice of them to have the Redskins out of town, and the Ravens and Eagles on their bye weeks. That makes the drive that much better.

I attended the rally yesterday ... the Stewart/Colbert rally; it was a major huge success. I had no trouble with trains since I bought the tickets early in the week.

It's a shame the only mention of the rally seems to be in this forum, with complaints about tourists.

Alarm -- I am glad the rally was a big success. I am big fans of both. But as a native Washingtonian, we, as a general rule, steer clear of things like this. Even as an ex-Washingtonian, I know to steer clear unless I have a really massively burning desire to participate. Avoid downtown at all cost is the motto for Washingtonians for days like yesterday. We're used to it a dozen or more times a year.

I was mainly commenting on the tourists and crowds in relation to the fact that so many "big named" escorts were in town during the week including 3 previous escort of the year winners. Sean Knight left on Tuesday or Wednesday. David-sf and Steven Dracker arrived on Wednesday, Romann arrived on Thursday. There were also a few others in town. Where our favorites were staying were issues - hell, even making sure they had lodging was tough this week. And with limited hotel rooms in downtown going for $500+/night, well, crazy/whacko/nuts/ and assorted similar terms all seemed to come to mind.

If it wasn't my concern for our favorite guys I'd have had no problems with the crowds. I would have avoided them like the plague, but that's me. Group sex is great, just not if the group is 500,000. :) It's just a bit unwieldy, I don't think I'd want a gay pride parade of a half a million in one small space either.

While I very much appreciate your response. I live a block away from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia and know all about crowds, especially on Independence Day (1976 or 2010), concerts (Live Aid) and political rallys. I do understand that Philadelphia is not as busy as Washington, but you may not live as close to the major rally site in D.C. as I do in Philadelphia.

After enjoying the rally so much, it was frankly annoying to read several posts with complaints about the traffic. Again, you were great to answer, and I do understand the escort situation.

Looks like Mr. Williams has discovered the beauty that is Sedona. I love that place. It sounds like you do too.

Have fun
