Why agencies?

I've read about a number of agencies here but have never used one. In fact, it seems like almost every escort on the west coast represents himself. I've read about agencies in Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida. I assume that lots of escorts there also work independently, but it seems like these agencies are doing quite well. I found myself wondering this morning why it is that agencies seem to have a significant presence in some markets but not others?

 

I honestly don't think I would ever want to hire through an agency. An individual having my name, phone number, etc isn't so bad, but I don't feel comfortable being listed in a pimping organization's records. (I don't mean "pimping organization" in a negative way, just conveying what it is in the eyes of the law). I have other misgivings about hiring this way, too.

 

I can see the benefit that an agency would provide some types of escorts (particularly one who does multiple short appointments per day, or someone with a day job who wants someone else to set up evening appointments for him, or someone who is poorly organized), but I don't see the benefit for the client.

 

Any thoughts?

Tastes vary. Some guys feel that dealing with an agency is more reliable than dealing with an individual escort.

 

It's sort of like the difference between shopping at a supermarket vs. going to the produce store, the meat market, the fishmonger, etc., to get your weekly groceries.

 

I have friends that spend most of the day every Saturday doing the latter. Me, I order all my groceries on the internet and have 'em delivered. Different lifestyles for different folks.

I rent regularly from Rentboy and Campus (sometimes, A-List, Maximum and Chelsea too). There is no question that the boys from Agencies are more professional than the independant operators. They arrive on time, clean and there is no BS about payment. Unfortunately, they cost more.

 

That said, I have found some real gems on Rentboy, and where possible I check the reviews. A good review means almost nothing to me, but a bad review, I take very seriously. Last night, I tried out a new Rentboy guy with no reviews and he was excellent, which counter-balances my one or two negative experiences (which you have all read about here already).

 

I must admit I am at a crossroads. When faced with a $200 boy on Rentboy versus a $300 fee from an Agency, my default rule leads me away from the Agencies. In the couple month, I have found two such gems, who have become regulars and are easily more appealing to me than the available guys on Campus, Maximum or Chelsea (but I do want to try Billy on A-List soon).

 

As for security, if you pay cash, I don't see the risk. Certainly, it is no riskier than posting on this web site, n'est ce pas?

I maintain mixed feelings about using an escort agency x( To date I have done so only three times.

 

My preference is to contact the escort directly so I can be sure that all the vital information is being properly communicated. I have experienced and have read too many reviews on this site where the agencies apparently did not forward important information.

 

Also, as you mentioned, agencies tend to be vice targets. They do keep records, no matter what they claim, and I don't want to end up on some law enforcement "list."

 

And as we all know many guys who work for agencies do have alternate contact numbers. Contact via this method will usually find the escorts fee is somewhat less as well.

 

In summary I would not go out of y way to use an agency. My preference is to deal directly with the escort. The fewer middlemen the better.

Good point. As one who gets hired probably as much for my personality as for my body, I definitely prefer being an independent. If I worked for an agency, I'd have to hang out there all the time, so that when a potential client called, I could tell whoever answers the phone some funny things to say to cinch the deal...I'd become the Cyrano de Bergerac of escorting but with a bubble butt instead of a big nose.

Having aid that, my prefernce is to go direct, but I can see where some time an agency can be great. Dave of MantoMan does a good job and seem to be great with meeting client needs.

I prefer to deal with independent escorts for two reasons: 1)they are often less expensive than agency escorts; 2)they are usually more comitted to their work than agency escorts, because they have invested much more in their business. Agency escorts also tend to be fairly young and malleable, and I am attracted to more mature, dominant personalities.

 

In New York, where there are many excellent independents as well as good agencies, I always opt for the independent. On the other hand, there are places, like Philadelphia, where agencies seem to dominate the market; the independents there are a pretty sad lot, so going with an agency like Premier actually increases the likelihood of getting a quality escort.

 

So, you really have to know the local market before deciding which is better.

I think the risk of posting here is lower than hiring an escort through an agency. If the agency gets "raided" by the police, and that agency keeps client records, they have your name, address, phone number, and probably a credit card number. The only link to my real identity here, other than what I choose to post myself, is my email address.

I've been eying those Premier models too -- hmm! On the whole I have had bad or lesser experiences with agencies and am cautious to say the least. An escort from an agency is only getting part of the fee which can create an odd vibe (and if he does a good job the obligation to tip which in turn increases an already high tab). Also escort AND client are relying on the agency dispatcher to be candid, clear and accurate. I've had too many experiences where the dispatcher just wanted to dispatch a trick with dispatch and was none of those things, leading to awkwardness.

 

I won't make a generalization but I agree with those above who noted that independant escorts are running their own business and sometimes (often?) take what they're doing and the client's pleasure more seriously.

 

I do think there is a security risk with an agency since I imagine most keep records of completed contacts and I know of at least one that follows up with offers of new additions to the roster. How far any such info would travel in case of a raid I can't say, but it does amount to a consideration for someone who wants as private an encounter as possible.

 

In Philly I'd certainly have to break my rule against agencies but that would be until I had a typical bad agency experience (a substitution of a model, an escort who has been over booked and is burned out, an escort who hasn't been told anything about me or what I'm into and runs screaming from the room on sight, an escort whose stats and/or interests have been greatly exaggeated or even lied about and so on).

I think it makes a big difference whether you are relying on the Agency to choose and recommend from you, or whether you are choosing from pics and descriptions provided by the Agency. In those former cases, you have as much information as you would if chose satraight from the Internet. I am surprised nobody else has jumped in here on this point, but I have found here in NY and in Amsterdam the Agency guys are on time and clean. I agree that independant operators should have a greater incentive to take care of their business, but I think younger escorts need the extra encouragement. Perhaps, it is different with older escorts, but I don't have much experience there.
