Will It Be A Problem For Escorts?

Several years ago, I published my Golden Rule on escort ages--which I believe I named Gman's (or Gareth's) Rule--namely

Escort Stated Age + 7 = Actual Escort Age.

I was reminded of this early this AM when I had to arrange some flight reservations for an escort who had told me he was in his 30's. I go to Southwest Airline's Website to make the reservation and "Lo and Behold"--in addition to wanting the full name of the passenger, the website also asked for the birthdate. So when I asked for and received the birthdate of the escort in question--turns out he is about 10 years older. Who knew that the new TSA rules would promote "truth in advertising"?

Is this going to revolutionize escort advertising--or will escorts continue to massage their ages in their ads---and swear to secrecy any client who makes reservations for them?

Agree that is the average value of the function. Just as 7 dog years = 1 human year, on average. But it changes across the escort's lifespan, as it does across the dog's. I think it is a power function where the gap between stated and actual age grows as the actual number rises.

The age issue is one of many I tried to address in a modest glossary:

http://www.maleescortreview.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2900-adspeak/page__hl__adspeak__fromsearch__1

P.S. Some way down in the above-referenced thread, I find this relevant nugget from poster Conway:

The age thing deserves a post of its own.

If an escort claims to be 18, he is likely 15.

If he claims to be 19, he is likely 17.

If he claims to be 21, he is likely 26.

If he claims to be 29, he is likely 35-42.

If he claims to be 40 or more, he is likely 60 or more.

I am sure that many have heard of the website www.realage.com where one answers a series of questions and your real age is calculated as opposed to your chronological age.

Perhaps many escorts us this method to calculate their "real age"... or incredibly there might even be a secret website (about which clients are not aware) entitled something to the effect "realescortage.org" that gives them the most effective and appropriate "stage age" that they should use in their advertisements?

Apparently each month of your 20th year is a killer.

I think that is generally true. Escorts that get into the biz before 20 generally are trading on the "twink" factor which is especially appealing to some older gay men. 18 and 19 year olds can often look very much or somewhat younger than their years. But when 20 kicks in, the rubber hits the road, so to speak, and the tread wear (to carry on the analogy) starts to show.

At 21 some people are almost a decade past puberty and hair is sprouting everywhere. Of course cosmetic measures can be applied but there is always some tell-tale evidence if the goods are closely inspected, so to speak. Actually, the 20's are a pretty good period for the average male and their powers of recuperation are strong.

It's the 30's that start to separate the wheat from the chaff, if you will, and that is when the lying about one's age really takes off. I think it's also a denial thing, as passage from the 30's to the 40's really means you have left youth behind.

I found I lied most about my age in my 40's and 50's. After I turned 60, I started to think differently. I started to think of myself as a survivor which actually is somewhat reassuring, except if I look in the mirror a little too closely!!

I don't see any reason to even post a age in a profile. IMO its none of the clients business how old the escort is.

Admirable viewpoint. But not entirely realistic. We clients undeniably do objectify the people we seek to hire in numerous ways, at least during the selection process. (Even if, in the meeting itself, we may try and undo some of that objectification, and move toward whatever degree of I-Thou relatedness is available.)

But age bracket is one of the key criteria many clients weigh in choosing whom to hire. In either direction -- to seek a twink experience, or to have a session with a more mature individual.

It never really bothered me in life for people to know my age. iv had massage clients get on the table get into convo and it would come up and i always just told the truth. Iv seen guys in chat rooms that were 5 years older than me 5 years ago and are now 5 years younger than me lol I wonder do they ever give it any thought that if they met a guy today wouldn;t the truth come out sooner or later

Age Range Maybe???

Exact may not matter but in general I think you want to know the round about age of the person you are hiring. It's a mental thing I think

When I hit 30 I started telling people I was 40. For about 15 years people thought I was a decade older than I was, leading to 15 years of "you look GREAT for your age!" :p

I almost always, late into the session, ask people I hire how old they are. After the smallest bit of connection has been made, guys (girls too!) seem very comfortable giving their real age. (Well, I don't ask for a driver's license to verify. But the numbers I get seem credible.)

I recently turned 50 (welcome to the downhill slope!), which I offer first. That always seems to put things in context. :)

But that thought, in turn, suggests I really need the experience of hiring someone older than me.

Suggestions?

Figured the client group may be interested in this information about what an escort has to go through to display their age:

Men4RentNow: There's a box that asks the age of the escort. It does not increment each year, it's the escorts responsibility to go back after their birthday and change it.

Rentboy: Every time they post a new ad campaign it asks for their birthday (which is auto-filled in from previous information). The age displayed is calculated based on that birthday.

-------------

I think my ads say I'm 24...I'm really 26. Part of me had a small issue with turning 25, I was over it very quickly. Many of my goals now are based with 30 in mind...and where I want to be or what I want to have accomplished by that point in my life. In my personal social networking profiles, I post my real age. The only time I'm reminded that I'm getting slightly older is when I'm confronted with an 18-20 year old...primarily because they can't drink and are usually not that financially independent.

Not completely sure why I'm posting 24. I guess it just seems like the "right thing to do". I figured when I was 30 I'd post 27...when I'm 32-34 I'll post 30, or maybe stay at 28 or 29 depending on my skin upkeep. By 35, I should have shifted into another phase of life.

Does that sound dishonest? I mean, a large part of me really doesn't care if I post that I'm 32 when I'm 32. May feel different about it at that time, though, if my phone rings less...lol.

Well, because I may end up in prison for the "wrong" answer, the escort's age is my business.

That is a very good reason to know the age of a prospective escort.

Honesty and truth in advertising

I never felt that I had to lie about my real age. I started escorting when I finished college at age of 25.

In 8 years of escorting, I gained so much experience, traveled the world, met many great people and made a few very good friends.

Today I'm 33 (Christ's age). I feel great, happy and on the top of my game.

When an escort does not advertise his age, I assume his is over 30 and perhaps 40. It appears that he is hidding it because he assumes most clients prefer guys under 30.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I agree. Its not limited to escorts allot of gay men pretend to be younger than their real age. imo if you have to lie about it then your ashamed of who you are.

What about ... Escort Stated Age + 14 ... (they know who they are) ;)

You're being modest. In a few particular cases 45 and 47 years old.
