How many pair of underwear do you buy a year?

The Guardian have an article in todays paper about underwear. The average 23 year old British man buys 31 pairs of underwear a year. That's 1 pair every 12 days, have these guys never heard of a washing machine.

 

So poll time - How many pairs of underwear do you have ?

I have a thing for nice undies I have around 30prs at any given time. I might buy a few prs a year and just toss the older ones out as they wear out..

My dogs love to eat my shorts, to quote Bart Simpson, so I buy more underwear than the average person. I also like being ripped out of my underwear, so I will sometimes keep a pair with a hole in it and ask to have them ripped off of me. I probably get 15-20 wearings out of the underwear before the elastic gives up in despair. So that would be about 25 pair per year, accounting for the fresh pairs which die prematurely at the greedy jaws of my mutts.

In the photo above, the American Eagle boxer briefs are very, very intriguing!! Guess I'll have to check out the local AE shop ))

Having said that, I buy more underwear in some years than others---when boxer briefs first became popular, I bought 10-20 pairs a year--usually in the three pair packages. When I travel to Canada I usually buy more because they have brands in Montreal and Toronto that I don't see in the USA and I like the fabrics.

I cannot imagine the average Brit buys +30 pair of underwear a year---I'd like to know where they did the survey and the ages of those surveyed. If it's true, the quality of British underwear must be appalling---which I don't believe, but..............

I haven't bought underwear for probably five years. The only times I use them is when I wear dress clothes (not too frequently since retirement) and when I go to the doctor (isn't that odd of me?) I don't want him to think I'm a hillbilly. I love my freedom and so do my balls.

I am rarely hard anymore when I am in my underwear, unlike my youth, when I was rarely not hard.

 

The third escort I ever hired shocked me by ripping my underpants off. When I asked him why he did that, he said I had a small tear along the seam, so he assumed I wanted them ripped off. Since then, I am careful to wear my oldest underpants to any first time appointment with an escort, just in case he thinks the same way.

There are 39 pair in the "active" drawer in my closet.

Another 22 pair that I haven't worn in the dresser in the bedroom.

One shopping bag full and another 3 bushel plastic bag in the trunk of the car that's headed to Goodwill this afternoon.

 

Don't even get me started on counting my speedos. That's a whole 'nother discussion. LOL!

 

My partner (of 29 years) has 6 pair in his underwear drawer, even though we wear the same size---3 black, 3 grey, and all from the GAP. <yawn>

 

Obviously, I really get into my career---I'm the buyer of one of the biggest on-line retailers of mens underwear and swimwear.
