Long day at work, followed by a couple drinks with colleagues. Exactly the kind of night where I would swing by Stellas and have another drink and talk to the boys...often taking one home.

The internet, (and Guiliani and Bloomberg) seem to have killed this kind of bar. Sad that a city like NY cannot support one.

Thinking of the many guys who I met there...ah, liaisons.

Is there any place now a days where the boys go to meet potential clients while they wait for their cell phones to ring?

I love the concept of "hustler bars". It gives both the escort and client a chance to see and be seen, a chance to converse and get to know each other a little before a hiring decision is made. I think one of the downfalls of internet hiring is that you hire someone that you've never seen in person or had any face to face conversation. The client and the escort can discover the chemistry, of lack thereof, between them before they commit to an appointment. To me, it's "chemistry" that makes for a successful meeting, where everyone comes out smiling!

Stellas

The townhouse has occasionally some hustlers, however, not the best looking. The ones who go there seem to have seen their " better days ". Too bad Rounds doesn`t exist anymore. That was the hustler bar per excellence. One could chat with the guys, get to know them, before taking them home.

If someone has updated info on the hustler bar scene in N.Y., please, come forward !

As I understand it, Townhouse is the only game in town. There are of course street hustlers in the bookstores that have video booths in the back, but I never understand how all that works and that may be just too low-rent. I really like the idea of Hooville dinners that folk (used to?) have in LA and wish we could get one of those together here so that folk would have the opportunity to judge chemistry in person as noted above.

Tell us more Kevin. There are a bunch of us Hoovillians here in Gotham as well. In fact several of us gather rather regularly before partaking in the festivities at Club 20 of a Sunday night. Sounds like Hoovilian dinners are a tradition we should perhaps institute here as well.

And speaking of Club 20 (which has been the subject of more than a few threads in the Strip Club part of this site), if approached discretely, I suspect that several of the dancers would make themselves available for "private" sessions if the appropriate accommodations can be agreed upon. And although there's no nudity where liquor is served, you'll get a better pre-session experience of these dancers at Club 20 than you ever did with the guys Stella, Rounds or will with those at the Townhouse.

Is that on Bourbon right near the Voodoo Shop?

No, and the name of the one you are thinking about refuses to crawl out of whatever crevice in my brain it's retreated into. Sorry 'bout that, P.K.

The Corner Pocket is on the corner of St. Louis and Burgundy (pronounced locally with emphasis on second syllable) about 2 blocks off Bourbon heading toward Rampart. The location shown on Google Maps is about a half a block wrong.

For your convience, this is their website.

http://www.cornerpocket.net/

Almost all bars in the Quarter are 24/7. By day and early evening, the Pocket is a neighborhood (gay) watering hole. By night it transforms into a hustler/stripper bar, depending on the day of the week and the phase of the moon. ;) The patrons are about 50/50 locals and out of towners, mostly middle aged & up. Anybody under 25 is probably there on business, not always hustling. Not at all an upscale kinda place but safe enough.

During my visit this week I have walked by the old Stellas and the old Gaiety several times. It's just painful to think of what we lost. So many good times are now just memories.

But there is a Hooville dinner Sunday night, the 15th. See Cooper for details.

Totally agree with the chemistry thing. Have remained perhaps distant friends with some escorts.

Like the idea there; but how does it really work? Had failed (nasty) attempt on doing email with a couple that I thought would be hot to be with. A dinner out with them might have given us a better view on all parties.

Is it possible to ask for a dinner date upfront, and then see if it can go further?

Hi Lucky - are you guys going to Club 20 after the dinner? I may swing by later on Sunday evening
