Have any guys in the city of Atlanta gotten in trouble or are they just trying to clean up the suburban areas?

i think its a gwinnett and duluth thing. iv heard that theres been one or two random things in other county regarding men. it happens to females allot. there is another guy here in duluth that was on the cl as well. the under cover officer asked me if i knew him. I said no and called him soon as they left. He thought because he posts as body rub it would make him safe. The police don't care they can still get you for running a business from home regardless of what you choose to call it.

Some have mentioned the possibility of you getting a job to help your financial situation, others have suggested the possibility of medicaid to help you with your health issues and expenses. These are suggestions worth considering. Do you know that Starbucks offers health insurance to it's employees? Even those working part-time? Getting through the maze of Medicaid assistance may require help from a social worker. Once againl check local gay organizations in your vicinity and ask if there is anyone with the experieince and knowledge to help you through these decisions.

I talked with another guy by phone this morning. he was sent to an outcall to a hotel and was part of a sting. He was charged by fulton county for operating a business without a license, giving massage without a license and escorting without a permit. he was actually taken to jail. all from the craigslist

I know it happens but I find it hard to fathom that with all the really serious situations that exist in the world today, law enforcement can find the time and justify the cost of this senseless harassment.

IMO they and those that recruit them are totally incompetent and should not be in a position of authority.

Alas, escort stings are a regular part of every police department’s activity against crime.

I dated a high-profile, bi-coastal escort back in the late nineties who insisted to me that he would never get caught and if he did he had enough judges and high profile executives as clients who would protect him. Wrong! He got caught in an internet sting and fell for it hook, line and sinker. The NYC vice cops appeared at his door, arrested him and took him out of his elegant building in handcuffs. He was amazed that when he arrived at the midtown south precinct he was put in a cell with at least 8 other NYC male escorts! He went to court, was found guilty and sentenced to community service. He decided to ignore his sentence but was arrested again and his second court appearance was not treated so lightly.

So, don't fall into a false impression that your local police departments are unaware of your activities. They routinely patrol internet escort sites and perform stings.

I don't know how effective it is but I know escorts who always ask their new clients if they are now, or have ever been, a member of any local, state or federal law enforcement agency.

one guy i talked to was busted on the craiglist last month and never stopped running his ad. he said he needed the money. id be to scared to try that crap.

I noticed some escorts put in their ads that by contacting them you are stating not too be any part of law enforcement. those disclaimers that statements mean absolutely nothing. police can lie and do.

Joseph, you will be very popular in jail. Those massage skills can make a lot of friends.

On the other hand, the court is often willing to settle these matters for a much smaller sum than the aggregate of the tickets. It won't hurt to ask.

Joseph, you are obviously not listening to what I am saying. Get yourself in front of a judge and make a deal. It happens everyday. You may even be allowed to do community service in lieu of paying fines. Go see a Legal Aid advisor: http://www.atlantalegalaid.org/

As you may not have noticed, the economy is screwing people all over the country. You've made your problems known, people have offered what support they could, and now it is time for you to get the action going to solve your own problems. Going on constantly here accomplishes nothing.

Joseph,

We are trying to provide you with the best advice possible. Lucky is correct, you need to plead your case, your health and financial situation with the court, however before you do so, you must seek legal advice! I cannot emphasize this strongly enough for your benefit. If and when you go before the court seek a plea and perhaps community service in lieu of the full fine. Sounds like your local government is trying to raise cash at your expense. Once again, and I cannot emphasize this strongly enough, seek legal advice, otherwise we are all wasting our time and effort trying to steer you on the correct course of action. If you think you are miraculously going to get out of this sitting back and waiting, you are wrong. You need to be more proactive. Stop emailing everyone in the world and make that call to the Atlanta legal gay legal aid, now. No one is going to do it for you. You are responsible for your own destiny, therefore, get out there and do something to correct this problem..

Here again I'll come across as being unfriendly, cold, etc. The time spent sending emails back and forth on this chat I think there could have been some work you could have found. And as far as financial help needed, we all have come across unfortunate events where we hoped to help. At some point you need to move on; I've never seen so much time spent on this issue.

hmm

I think Joseph tried his best. Last time I remember he posted that he cleaned a couple of houses and etc. Evidently, he tried to contact legal offices and it was futile. He was not simply asking for money or anything. Sometimes people want just to talk and need some attention when going through a hard time.

Joseph, count me in with those who think you're handling this very well. Having to find a new home, a new town, a new line of work, and cash for some serious unexpected expenses is a pretty full plate. The way you're taking it one step at a time, and getting ready to throw yourself on the mercy of the court, is very impressive to me. Sure, things could be worse, but you've had a lot thrown at you in the last week or two. I'm not sure I'd be able to handle things as well as you have. If this board provides you any support at all, I hope you'll continue to use it. You've contributed to our community over the years in the ways you can, and many of us would like to be here for you in the ways that we can. Very best wishes.

What joseph did or does here will be irrelevant in terms of what he does for himself in the future. Hopefully he learned to be ready for a rainy day, and to make sure he had his chips in order when the cops come. But if he makes the effort, he will come out of this better than he went into it. I think that was the concern of rocky and others- that he was obsessing over his situation rather than taking it in hand and dealing with it.
