Who knew? In China there is a breed of dog bred specifically for its desirable fur characteristics. Its English name is raccoon dog because of its markings but it not a raccoon any more than a dogfish is a dog.

 

After being called out, Macys pulled all items made with dog fur but apparently Pennys merely marked over the raccoon fur label and put them back on the shelf. Given how Americans feel about their dogs, it's hard to imagine a major retailer insisting on its right to sell dog fur but there it is.

this is the kind of thing that really makes me mad

I love fake fur lined coats for winter and now Ihave to weonder if i have bought fur from a dog :mad:

I suspect the brand labels are also exploiting a latent ambiguity in the language. Does faux fur mean man made fabric or cheap fur trimmed and dyed to resemble a more expensive pelt? As PK says, the labeling act should be amended to remove the loopholes.

So cute~~ My cat hates dogs though. He hisses at dogs and runs away. Why can he be like the cat in this picture? How can I make my cat be friendly to dogs?
