Wait for this raunchy flick to hit the screens July 10, some queens will be in a tizzy!

A flamboyant fashion reporter from Austria that attends a swingers party and adopts a black baby?

Borat? You ain't seen nothing yet.

I guess there was some flap involving SC at the MTV awards. His awards outfit was hysterical. I have seen some clips from the movie and it looks pretty funny - in that SC way.

I found the trailer for this movie to be extremely offensive. I think it sends the wrong message to the "masses" who still find gay people on the fringes. This movie will reinforce that opinion. I won't be seeing this movie.

Heck, he's starting to look like some of the well reviewed rentboys here...

Holy whillikers! Hasn't Eddie Murphy done some pretty funny comic send-up of black people? How about Cheech and Chong as representatives of Latinos? Blacks and Latinos survived those movies and we will survive Bruno. We all need to laugh at ourselves from time to time, and I think the American public is very capable of seeing the Bruno movie for what it is- comedy.

. . . I think the American public is very capable of seeing the Bruno movie for what it is- comedy.

Either this is an extremely naive statement or one to just get the followers on this site to respond to the post.

I think he's saying that the American public is smart enough to get that it is a parody of gays.. I don't believe Cohen is a homophobe.

In Comedy, some believe if you don't piss off some people you're doing something wrong.

Last time I checked, Tommy Chong wasn't Latino. Okay, I admit that's nit-picking. ;)

Well, I love nit-pickers, so I checked and here's what I found:

Tommy Chong is an Irish-Chinese-Canadian comic, best known as the taller half of the comedy team Cheech & Chong

So, I amend my statement to say that the Irish, Chinese, and Canadians survived the humor of Tommy Chong just as the blacks and latins survived Eddie Murphy and Cheech. People left the BORAT movie laughing, not thinking that it really put down Kr...that country he was supposed to be from!

gee, Lucky, as controversial as you are around here :), I definitely agree with you....

the self-righteous indignation of some around here is very tiring....self-deprecating humor is very healthy....

smart people know what's up with gays and this movie won't change anybody's mind - pro or con....

I'd Rather See Humpday

Fellow Hoovillians, this movie is not worth the admission, a total disappointment. Screamed once, chuckled maybe 5 times.

Wait for the DVD!

Local sfgate movie reviewer thought the same:

IMO Cohen's shtick gets old quick. He essentially performs the same act over and over whether he's Borat, Bruno or Ali G.

Perhaps Humpday due out this month as well will have a much better take on the issue of straights and gays. The premise has two straight guys in very dull settled down lives deciding to make a gay porn tape having sex with each other on a dare. Instead of poking fun at unsuspecting victims for laughs it's about relationships which I find more interesting.

I disagree, I saw this movie and had an uncontrollable urge to fuck a woman.

Someone wrote me::

"Suddenly gays are so worried that their image will somehow be tarnished by a comedian. Here's an idea: start by ending the Folsom Street Fair and go from there if you're so worried about your 'image'."

Bruno Sucks.... Bigtime!

I loved "Borat" but I thought that "Bruno" sucked, bigtime, and not just because the character portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen is looking to suck cock as often as possible. Yes, we're all sex-obsessed to some degree, but this movie is ridiculous. I know, it's supposed to be comedy, put-on, satire, but I just found it gross and tiresome. Yes, there are a few big chuckles, but most of the attempted humor falls flat. I agree with The New Yorker's critic this week, who bemoaned Cohen wasting his comic genius on this drivel.
