Hope Daddy will be grading on a curve cause I will need the leeway. Even then I am not sure I can manage a passing grade.

I see you found your bulge I mean your avatar :p But didn't it used to be animated?

Animations are not working. We don't know why, but we're looking into it.

It's definitely a mixed-blessing feature. But it has been frequently requested.

Another website I frequent has had the "ignore" feature from day one. As far as I can tell, its primary uses (most popular first) are:

1. To let someone know you have put him on ignore, whether you have or not.

2. To ask a critic why he hasn't put you on ignore if he doesn't like what you have to say.

3. To actually put someone on ignore.

It's a very popular feature. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/alles_moegliche/mixed-smiley-010.gif

OK, what's the difference between a reply and a quick reply?

The result is exactly the same. You can assign a subject and an icon to your post if you're not doing the quick reply. Otherwise, exactly the same. And if you're doing a quick reply and realize you need the non-quick reply instead, just click "advanced".

(And Rick, smilies are available either way  )

What are the "names" or whatever they are under the user name on posts? Are they triggered by how many posts you have or the role you play on the board like "moderator"?

I am quite enjoying being a "Lord"--and while I won't confirm--or deny, be nice to me--because I just might be "The" Lord.

PS I couldn't find the smileys even using the Advanced option.

so far my major peeve with this new forum is that it does not have a "mark and return to main forum" option. So, in the old forum when one marked a forum read it automatically took you back to the main forum. Now you have to click "mark" and then click on the main forum leak. A minor point but a frustration none the less.

Favorites

A minor quibble... It seems that my "Favorites" have been lost. Of course they hopefully can be located using the search function, but an aggravation nonetheless...

Also I have heard complaints that the font is somewhat small to read comfortably... especially when compared to the old format.

I left a note asking the night shift to handle this one.

We do appreciate the issue for our old^H^H^H more experienced readers, but getting things working right takes a little higher priority.

We're listening as always, but our priorities might differ from yours. We'll get there, though.

new posts sorted by forum?

The old "read new" command gave a list of new posts sorted by forum. Any way to duplicate this feature when logged in with the new software?

preview does not show the signature

Doesn't anybody like to click "Preview Post"? Such a nice little button that gets ignored. :p

the preview did not show my signature and since that is what i was checking

that is why i posted it.

and considering my horrible grammar and spelling i often do my best to preview my posts and depending on how lazy i feel will make corrections

Sorry, I got mesmerized by the Duke's asset so was late answering this. I always use the preview button. Someone with the spelling and grammar skills of a third grader must.

Still can't figure out the signature pic thing but there are worse things.

I also miss the old mark capability. There were many times that I would leave a forum "unmarked" so that I could spend more time later in the day (or next day) to check out certain posts. This allowed me to mark the other forums as read, but leave the forum of interest "unmarked".

Today I tried to do a quick reply, and was told it was too short--it had to be at least ten characters. That eliminates the possibility of doing perfectly adequate responses like Yes, No, or Whatever. In this dire economy, we should be trying not to waste anything, including unnecessary characters.

The Ignore Feature

The new feature works great.[/color] ;)

While the “Ignore Feature” is an interesting concept, and I am sure it works perfectly, I doubt that it will ever live up to its true potential. After all, it goes against basic human nature. Being inquisitive, curious, and fascinated by the unseen is a basic facet of the human psyche. The temptation to sneak a peek is just too great. Just ask Lott’s wife, Orpheus, and a few others throughout history who failed to ignore a thing or two…

Remember Me?

I use Mac Safari 3.2.1 with AutoFill turned on. In the old message center, my name and password were filled in whenever I logged on. On the new one, I have to type in my name and password every time, even though I checked 'Remember Me?'

Is anyone using autofill successfully? Or do folks just stay logged on?

Thanks.

Let's try this again

The old "read new" command gave a list of new posts sorted by forum. Any way to duplicate this feature when logged in with the new software?

There were no responses to the first appeal for this information. Does anyone know if this is possible.
