Welcome to This Week at The Gaiety. It was a cold and rainy Saturday, but inside the show was really a good one, very entertaining performances.

My apologies for the mess created last week when I tried the split review. The first half was posted earlier than normal. I finished the second half review on Monday night, sent it off to Hooboy, as I said I would, but somehow it never got posted. It is posted in the Message Center in the Deli Section for anyone who wants to see it. I realize Hooboy had a bad week, but it’s frustrating to me, to the readers and the dancers when the review isn’t out there. Oh well, hopefully this week will run smoother.

The Gay Erotic Expo at Webster Hall was interesting. I didn’t stay particularly long but it was a nice opportunity to meet some porn stars, get a few freebies. My favorite was Jet Set Video’s Marc Stone, what a cutie.

The more traditional Gay and Lesbian Expo, at The Javits Center, was also enjoyable. There were a lot of exhibitors, some very smart marketers. There were areas for Cars, Pets and Family in addition to the normal exhibitors. I think it’s great that some of the more traditional corporations recognize that gays have a lot of disposable income and that we are a viable group to be marketing to. Many financial institutions had booths. Of course, I liked the booths from some of the great gay publications, Food for Life (their brownies were sinful but they promise me they’re healthy) and so many more worthy organizations. Next year, make a point of going out and checking it out. My favorite was the hot looking boys handing out the hX magazine. Every time we walked by, he asked if we had a copy. I wonder which of us was playing games?

One of the exhibitors was Balls Boards & Blades, a gay group of athletes. Most recognizable among them is the Gay Hockey Team, which has gotten a lot of press (they captured a Bronze medal at the recent Gay Games in Sydney, congrats guys!); their calendar is always a great seller (not sure they have one for 2003, didn’t see anything mentioned about it). They are having a Pre-Thanksgiving Party at xl Lounge (357 West 16th between 8th and 9th Avenue) next Thursday, November 21 from 7-10pm. Sounds like fun! I know I’m going to try to make it.

On to the review. As always, the comments and opinions presented here are mine. I do not profess to be an authority on what you like. We all look for and like different things in other men. I am merely trying to communicate some of the goings on. Please forgive my biases, I’m sure everyone has different perceptions on the guys. All of the guys appearing at The Gaiety are good looking. When I am negative about a performer, it never means they are unattractive. Please feel free to communicate any comments you have to me at nyobsrvr@aol.com or in the Message Center.

Trevor was the guest DJ this Saturday and he did a nice job. It’s nice seeing him, even with all his clothes on.

1. Ronnie, a handsome muscular guy, very nice body, big dick, nice butt. He puts on a good show, wearing seductive leather chaps and a kinky garment protecting his dick (it’s steel-mesh looking). Ronnie can be viewed at his website (note spelling) http://www.ronnielacour.com. He’s a very friendly guy, good personality.

2. Tony Pitt, a great looking guy, very nice physique (especially those biceps which drove me crazy and his butt isn’t too shabby either), very cocky (in an amusing way). He sported a French look on Saturday with his beret. Tony is quite outspoken with his thoughts; he doesn’t hold anything back. This sometimes gets him in trouble, but I think down deep, he’s a very nice guy. Tony is a frequent contributor on muscleservice.com where he posted his thoughts on The Gaiety being passé (his word of the week). I don’t think that’s at all true (although attendance has been erratic lately), but for someone with the name recognition of a Tony Pitt, perhaps he doesn’t need to perform here as much as someone just getting started in the business. It is hard work keeping up with the schedule of 5 live shows a day over a 7 day period, along with finales on weekends (including one at 3am), private shows, eating, sleeping and possibly working out. I think that those who do best with this environment stay upbeat and try to maintain a positive attitude. Tony seemed very down on the whole scene and I’m sure that doesn’t help endear him to potential clients. As much as I’d miss him at The Gaiety, perhaps it’s best for him to find other venues where he’s happier. I for one, hope he’ll reconsider and do a weekend in the spring. We’ll see. This is a very handsome man.

3. Ben, an extremely entertaining performer, this week coming out from the audience wearing a tux and looking quite sharp. He jumped up on the stage, shaking his booty quite a bit (the music he danced to was a good selection for him) and showing off his stage personality. He really thrives up on the stage, always smiling, trying to please the audience. In his second song, he now comes out donning a towel with a nice hard-on beneath it. It’s a very sensual routine and he does a good job with it, especially as he interacts with the patrons at stage-side. Ben has a wild personality and is very creative. He’s good-looking, great eyes, nicely toned body. Ben is among the most entertaining of the performers here at The Gaiety.

4. Marco, another fun performer, coming out riding Ben onto the stage for one show. He’s very hot looking, great body (despite the tattoos), looks very sexy in his black shirt and pants (he wore white on Friday, I thought black was better for him). I like that he’s gotten rid of his sunglasses on stage; he has very attractive eyes, they are piercing. He has a great dick, which is the first glimpse we get of him in his second song, as he emerges from center stage and when the curtain opens, we see a very erect dick, yum. He also has a very nicely shaped butt, which we get ample looks at. Marco has a fun personality, he’s a bit on the wild side, but he’s a good guy.

5. Gauge, the biggest muscle of the week, not totally cut but in very nice shape. Gauge is a very friendly, outgoing guy, very flirty on stage, very good eye contact, nice smile, decent sized dick. I liked his Gauge belt, he must be doing something right to have his own personalized belt (he said he loves using it on his clients J , but I suspect he was kidding). I felt that Gauge’s performance was much better than on previous appearances (other than the fact that he has reverted to socks in both songs instead of barefoot both songs). He is very good at interacting with the audience and his free-spirited personality is a plus.

6. Tristan, a good dancing, attractive performer. He dresses nicely (although the white t-shirt on Saturday was a departure from the norm), is very good at eye contact and smiling and is looking in good shape. He’s not as muscular as some of the guys, but he’s definitely well-toned. Tristan has a very nice personality, he’s always quite friendly and is among the more popular guys on the stage.

7. Marlone, another entertaining performer, this week he was “Gold Member”, wearing a one piece tacky gold suit, those high boots he wore last week, a pair of glasses that say “COOL” on them (very amusing), a tacky disco medallion around his neck and in some performances his white Afro wig, the sight of him on stage moving about gracefully is quite a scene. I like that he has such a good time on stage. In his second number, one of the other dancers called him Sheba, as he came out in a turban (gold of course), and a wizard’s robe to the music Mysterieux, very appropriate. He used the cape effectively as a prop and when it opened up, he revealed his massive dick, always hard. He’s a great performer and is a very pleasant personality. I always am smiling when I see him on the stage.

8. Sebastian, a good looking boy, spikey dark hair, nice muscular physique, big dick, decent dancer. He dresses nicely (except those horrible shoes that I think he must have borrowed from Nicholas). He is very Abercrombie, definitely would fit right into their line.

9. Hugo, a new performer and one who I enjoyed a lot (among my favorites). He is blond, a bit on the short side and not totally defined, but handsome and very sexy. He was a good dancer, moving about the stage well. He has a seductive smile (I loved the way he looked at me) and a booming butt. He wasn’t particularly hard in his first show but after that, he seemed a lot more comfortable. I definitely intend to find out more about this one, he was definitely an appealing addition. I’m hoping he’ll be back for a full week sometime soon.

10. Giovanni (Saturday only), what more do I need to say about this guy. He’s probably the most entertaining showman on the stage, very good dancer, very flirty with the audience. In addition, he has a increasingly toned body. He’s a pleasure in the lounge, a total package.

11. Jay (missed the show at 6:15 on Friday), a good-looking tall lanky boy, good dancer, but not quite as wild as on his previous appearance. He is well-endowed and has a nice body. He’s very friendly, outgoing in the lounge. He can be seen Joe Paulson or Switter Joe on the http://www.nobhilltheatre.com website. When checking for Jay, I noticed that Marlone is also pictured on that site.

12. Chris, a cute blond, he had appeared at The Gaiety as Ryan about 3 years ago. He’s become a man now, he was a young kid then (he’s still very young). He looked much better on Saturday having gotten rid of the baseball cap look. He has nice nipples, a nicely toned, though not overly muscular physique and his best feature is a nice smile. He has added an ugly looking tattoo on his chest that I’m sure wasn’t there three years ago. It was a memory test remembering his name, sometimes this is hard work.

13. James, a handsome refined guy, very well-dressed, a good dancer, nice smile (more smiles than last time around). He has a very nice body, well-toned, in good shape and surprised a lot of us when he spread his ass and gave us a good look.

That’s it for this week, an entertaining show. Next week sounds like this. Sebastian, Giovanni, Jay and James will be continuing. Gauge might be there Monday, I’m not sure. Joining them will be porn star Nico Bacci (he looks great in his pictures) and William.

There is some chance I won’t be around next weekend, will have to see how the week develops. Have a great week.

See you next time.

Hugs,

NYO

NYO- A question

Thanks as always for the reviews. I usually go late on Saturday; stopped in after Hairspray and particularly enjoyed Ben's show, first time I had seen him. Wondered what are the actual show start times on Saturdays. Next week I will have to go early, in the afternoon. The movies are a waste of time, and I don't want to spend an hour waiting for the show to start. Thanks as always for the reviews. Lets us out of towners know who's around.

RE: NYO- A question

Wanted to post an email from a reader (and my response to him). Any comments?

From the reader:

I would like to respond to your extremely insulting "review" of the Gaiety dancers.

You have clearly been watching this show for years yet you still fail to see what it is actually about.Instead you busy yourself trying to look down your nose at people that are clearly superior to yourself in every way. Your column is nothing but an expression of your childish envy, and though this feeling is shared by many of the other patrons in the audience, you are the one with the supreme arrogance enough to put it in writing. Your behavior is infantile and openly hostile towards these ACTUAL PERSONS that are performing, completely nude, for the general public several times a day. Since you were never taught to behave graciously and appreciate the effort that these ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS make to serve you as a customer, I just feel an obligation to help point out your ignorant and insolent attitude.

I have met you face to face, and you were deliberately deceptive. I have come to understand that it is because you are desperate to feel superior to someone, like many of the customers at the Gaeity, you try to use a young and inexperienced person to gain a surrogate sense of dominance and control. It is the lowest form of human exploitation, and you know very well by now that you are nothing but a parasite. You really should not be allowed to set foot in the Gaeity if you cannot manage a basic respect for its purpose and function, let alone its employees. Being a middle class white person you have no idea whatsoever how fucking entitled you are, and for you to criticize young guys that have to actually struggle to make a decent life for themselves is really just beyond pathetic.

You really really really should grow up and learn to behave with dignity, and leave these people alone. They are not your property in any way, and your comments are not appreciated by anyone affiliated with the Gaeity Theatre. The fact that you have been tolerated for this long is a mystery, because this type of establishment could not exist if the patrons were not completely respectful towards the performers, something which you have yet to comprehend.

My Response:

WOW, I'm shocked by this email. I have no idea why you think this way about the review/me. Maybe I really am ignorant, I don't know. I think that if you ask the dancers about the review that virtually all of them are appreciative of it. I am more respectful of them than virtually anyone, so I'm not sure what you are referring to.

Further, I am not sure how I was deceptive to you. Since I have no idea who you are, I'd love to know how I deceived you.

It was certainly not intentional.

I am going to publish your letter on the message center on Hooboy's site for people to comment on. Please feel free to add your comments. It will be in the Deli Section.

Best Regards,

NYO

NYO - I don't know why you even bothered to reply. Such letters deserve to be placed in "file 13" upon receipt. I bet he's jealous that you have a greater degree of acceptance at the Gaiety than he does.

RE: WE LOVE YOU NYO

I think now is a good time for all of us to come together in giving NYO a big group hug. So NYO, put your arms around your computer and feel the warmth generated from all who respect and appreciate you for what you do to promote the Gaiety Theatre and it's dancers...In addition, as one who follows your weekly reviews religiously, I've never once read anything written by you that showed disrespect towards any dancer. In fact, I've always admired you for finding only complimentary words in reviewing them...The Gaiety is a better place because of you. Thanks again for your dedication and hard work in reporting your take on the "hottest show on Broadway". NYO, you are definitely one of the good guys! HUGS, Cooper

RE: WE LOVE YOU NYO

Hey Coop:

I couldn't agree more. NYO is a HooBoy institution and I look forward to every post because he makes the experience so real that I can feel myself in those broken-down dirty chairs drooling over the gorgeous display of male perfection as it is paraded before me.

I believe that NYO has no mean aspect to his personality and the roughest he ever gets is "while not my personal taste this gentlemen was well received and popular". WOW the old saying seems to apply. . . that any publicity is good publicity. What a nice guy and the dancers owe him a debt of gratitude; as does Denise at the door.

I join in the group hug and in Texas that can get rather messy.

All the best,

Houston Bonfires

I don't see it the same way as the reader

NYO,

I guess everyone is entitled to his opinion, but I disagree with the reader's characterization of the reviews and you. He seems to be projecting a lot of hostility, but I have read the reviews for a few years and have never seen the tone he attributes to your work.

There are times that we disagree on a dancer, but you have never been mean-spirited in your reviews and often find an area to compliment even the dancers who are out of place there.

Keep up the good work.

Bill

i agree, this off the wall post, out of nowhere is patently ridiculous! nyo consistently, week after week, somehow finds positive and kind words for all the dancers, whether his type or not. he does throw in some playful digs, or suggestions, but never anything meanspirited that i can ever remember. the few times i've had the opportunity to talk to him in person at the gaiety he has always been friendly and polite. off the top of my head i can think of no one who gives more help and positive reinforcement to the dancers than NYO. keep up the good work.

Ridiculous email - NYO is a total good guy. It's easy to send bullshit through the email. Somebody is obviously jealous of NYO's popularity.

RE: NYO- A question

I have many times expressed my appreciation of NYO's reviews and the work he does. Perhaps the writer of the letter is jealous of the attention NYO himself gets, not just from us, but from the boys at the Gaiety.

As far as the deception, maybe the writer wanted NYO to say something that he didn't want to say. Since NYO is not rude, he probably just gave a generic answer.

Finally, many times NYO has referred to his shyness. My experience has been that after seeing him many times at the Gaiety, I introduced myself to him. He has never spoken to me since! Shy? or maybe he just doesn't like me!

RE: IMHO

NYO, After re-reading the "hate" message you received from an obsessed reader, I can't help but think that the author of this strange email was a dancer. One who didn't like his review and had a "bad" week. Perhaps he also works there in another capacity, is very close with Denise, and is quite educated. Any names come to mind?....

Let me just put my .02 cents worth into this discussion. First off, it's the generosity of the good patrons that keeps this place going. We pay $17 to see a weekend show, while Denise pays the dancers only $10 a show or $50 a day. Not enough to pay for their hotel room (running about 100+ a night) or transportation to and from the Big Apple. So how do these very handsome in shape dancers make the big bucks to keep wanting to come back?...Don't think tips, not enough to attract these guys. But, once again, it's the patrons who pay $200+ for a "private show"....

So, if someone working for Denise sees fit to send NYO this bitter letter (which in my opinion attacks all patrons and had the blessing of Denise), then think twice about who keeps you employed. Just where would you be if it wasn't for the generosity of the patrons? It's best to "make us happy and you'll be happy too!"

Finally, perhaps the "author" would like to join this board in sharing with us your views on the show. There are few of us who like to talk about the dancers in a very constructive way....Cooper

........................................ HEY LUCKY, if it helps, I'll be at the Gaiety this Friday for the 6:15 pm show. If you're there, I'll try to figure out who you are and introduce myself to you. I'm not "shy" and I always remember faces, not just the dancers...And you can be certain that whenever we meet, I'll always say "hello" and talk with you. That's just the way I am, it's called being friendly! Cooper! ;)

At this moment, i am planning to go too. This is only a plan though. So we might see each other and I would enjoy meeting you.

And NYO, I will say hi and re-introduce myself.

It would be a little odd to meet someone from the board, because I do think I am a different person socially than I am here. Here I am not shy.....

RE: OUT TO LUCKY

This is why I think we should have holiday get together there with "HELLO MY NAME IS..." tags in the Lounge at Gaiety one of these days. How many times have people from this board walked past each other (semi hard from the dancer on stage) and not been able to bond over the experience?

Wonder if Denise would mind a little merriment in the Apollo room?

RE: OUT TO LUCKY

We do not need the "D's" permission for nametags. However, I favor a secret handshake or a secret sound. We need to come up with a list of who will bring what for our Apollo Lounge Party. I will bring cheese and crackers, a festive fruit punch and some crystal meth.

Seriously, we should have a meet and greet.

RE: OUT TO LUCKY

Hello Lucky,

Cooper is correct - he will talk to you. He is so warm and friendly. He is the Gaiety cruise director and my personal erotic travel agent. Cooper is responsible for my 1st male lap dance! (well, he didn't do it personally but he told me where to go and how to act).

I would love to meet you Lucky. I am consulting my train schedule now as I won't drive in due to the grid lock alert. I will be wearing beige pants, a burgundy shirt and these really sexy boxers.

RE: LET'S PARTY!

Sounds like the makings for a fun time tonight, hope to see you all there! OUT TO HIJIN: After reviewing tonight's HOT line-up, don't think any of us will be just "semi-hard"!.... VDN, it's full steam ahead. :+ As for the party at Club "G", you can always count on me for bringing the chips, pretzels, bread stickes, and punch! Just think of it as being on the house. :9 LUCKY, People say I look like "Phil Hartman", don't know if they meant dead or alive! ;-)
