New Message Center Software

I know it is new and probably not "twinked" yet, but for me on my PC it is REALLY REALLY slow when I click on the folder to be displayed, such as "Lounge" or "Ask an Escort"..........just takes forever to display. Is it because now all the people who have replied to each topic is also displayed? Also, the briefcase-type symbol in the far left column is not colored like it use to be when new messages had been posted for a particular topic. Is anyone else experiencing this?? Just wondering.

It's because:

a) Hoo is loading the reviews (he got a late start)

b) I'm making patches to the Message Center

c) The backup's are still running because of a) and b)

d) New York is starting to wake up

 

I've been watching the load carefully, we're starting to get the system back. Please be patient, we've got gerbals running pretty fast.

Yes, it is glacially slow for me as well. Perhaps there are faster ways to format the new program. For instance, if I "collapse" the topics, will that make less material for the program to load?

What I miss from the old system is: after the title of the Thread, there was always the beginning of the sentence which gave a little more insight into what the thread was about. And yes, it took three minutes for the opening list of threads to load, and I have satellite hookup which is usually a little faster than the norm.

It is still not lightning fast, but it does load MUCH faster if you "collapse" the threads rather than allow it to display all the replies on the front page.

OK, time is right now. I'd earlier changed my user option to the correct time zone, but evidently that doesn't put all the previous posts to the correct zone, so I thought it was still off. But my previous post has the correct time listed, so I guess it's OK now.

Daddy: is there a way to make that the default setting so that new people logging in for the first time don't get frustrated & leave? :-)

Whenever the software is updated, Daddy always upgrades. Usually previous bugs have been fixed.

I am not sure the blue/white color is a bug, but it sure is hard on my eyes!

I agree it looks good, but it takes forever to load ... even with a cable modem. I'm also having trouble staying logging in. I keep getting a "cookies problem" error message. Also, I see that the user ratings have been enabled again. :-( That feature does NOTHING to add to the discussion and resulted in lots of hurt feelings the last time around. I strongly urge that it be turned back off.

Hi. I'm using Mac OS X Jaguar, and the message center doesn't seem to be any slower or faster than before.

 

The upgrade isn't completely intuitive. I was looking for some older posts and couldn't locate the "archive." It finally dawned on me to click on "Show all folders" or whatever that was, and that revealed all the different pages available in a particular board. Hoo and Daddy: Can that be set as the default option?

 

It's annoying that there isn't an easy or obvious way to jump between topics and boards, as there was in the previous version with the option to click on "topics" or "conferences", or using the pull-down menu that was available at the bottom of each thread. It's also annoying that after posting a message there's no easy way to get back to the other topics in the thread. I finally figured out I could click on "Main" at the top of the page, but that's not exactly intuitive. Can we get those other options back?

Go to the "User Menu" in the Lobby. There click on "Edit your preferences"

 

Once there you can change your time zone.
