save a trip to Rio and hit San Antonio

I have posted this before but Main Street around the bars in SA last Friday night was like what I read of Rio bathhouses, except outdoors. I actually had an expensive escort in my car from this website and, as we cruised the street, I was interested in returning him safely to his hotel (though you are a real nice guy if you read this!) and returning to choose from among the smorgasboard of cute young Hispanic guys hanging around the Main Street bar area. There is of course risk involved, but so far I have met mostly fun guys and their rates are small slivers of the guys reviewed here. I usually drive them over to a fast food place and get them a bite to eat while I try to figure them out. If something seems not right - like if they talk about drugs or are obviously not clean, I usually give them a small bill and return them to where I met them. Some are very obliging to hang out at bars or cafes as fun company to guys visiting on business, like myself. Others are really hot and much fun back at the hotel. Most strictly avoid talk of money till much later on and only then do they say something like "my friend gives me $50 for this as a gift." On some week nights you will see just a few guys, but over the evening there could be dozens out. Perhaps posts like this will kill the fun but I'd like to share the info with those who like this scene. SA is a great town even without this little treat. Visually the old neighborhoods are New Orleans-like... kind of shabby-historic. There are some good restaurants - I like a dinner place called Silo, and walking the great historic neighborhood called King William is visually interesting.

...just be very careful guys. You know there have been big "stings" in certain cities where this type of activity occur. Think about that homophobic senator: his alleged crime transpired in an airport where there had been a sting operation set up!

This is an ancient thread, but I'm surprised no-one commented on this. The guy scheduled a date with this escort, picked him up but.... as soon as he spotted cheaper, younger guys walking around, he becomes "interested in returning him safely back to his hotel." No mention of paying the escort before searching for a better deal and that's probably where the "real nice guy" part comes in.

Can this still be true? I mean Laredo some 2+ hours south of San Antonio is morguelike 24/7/365.

Don't think it's true at all and never was. The area outside of San Antonio's very dank gay bars is sometimes filled with trannies, but rarely gl'ing guys wanting to play blow and go. You've also got SAPD lurking around, always looking for someone to pester. I'd advise against any of SA's street scene.
